Chapter 10 - Chapter 10: Blood Oath

John Wick woke up and quickly observed his surroundings. Nearby, he saw his confiscated weapons and a Dragon Ball lying on the ground.

"John, let me put it this way — I'm going to have my men tear you to pieces."

"You're always so bold, you know that?"

John Wick raised his head to look at Viggo and replied,

"Really?"

Viggo smiled and said,

"Yes."

"I have to admit, even after five years, you're still as sharp as ever."

John asked again,

"Really?"

Viggo leaned in closer and said,

"People don't change much."

"But time… it does."

Thinking about the fire John Wick had started, Viggo's tone grew agitated.

"You know what was in that basement?"

"Art? Cash? Maybe those aren't worth much…"

"But my criminal network in this city — videos, recordings, evidence, blackmail materials…"

"They're priceless."

By the time he finished, Viggo was practically yelling, his flailing arms making his anger all too obvious.

"Priceless."

John Wick, completely expressionless, replied calmly,

"Is that so? I actually quite enjoyed it."

Viggo laughed in disbelief,

"Of course you did."

"Are you laughing at me?"

Bang!

Viggo punched John Wick square in the face, nearly knocking him and his chair over.

Outside the warehouse, Fox and Smith were observing from a window and couldn't help but feel amused. What kind of mob boss talks this much?

Fox whispered, "You think John Wick still has a shot at turning this around?"

Smith didn't answer, just pointed in a direction. Fox looked through his binoculars and saw a man with a sniper rifle aiming at the warehouse from a rooftop.

"Damn, someone actually came to save him."

After that long conversation, Viggo, still annoyed by John's words, finally gave the signal for his men to kill him.

His two men placed a plastic bag over John Wick's head to suffocate him.

Just then, Smith Doyle made his move, firing two shots.

Bang! Bang!

The bullets shattered the glass, curving through the air before striking the two men square in the head.

Smith Doyle jumped down with Fox in his arms and appeared right in front of John Wick.

Outside, Marcus, who had been ready to provide backup, saw the sudden intervention and realized John Wick was safe.

John was surprised to see them save him.

"Thanks for saving me."

Fox cut the zip ties on John's wrists with a knife.

Smith said,

"John, you look like hell. I thought you were going to join Helen."

John nodded. For a moment, he really had thought he was going to die.

"Thank you, Smith."

"I owe you my life. If you ever need anything, I'll do everything I can."

Then John started gathering his gear, stashing weapons and slipping the Dragon Ball into his suit's inner pocket. He picked up the Kel-Tec KSG shotgun and asked,

"Is the assessment still ongoing?"

Smith nodded,

"Still ongoing."

Fully geared up, John said,

"Smith, once I'm done with this, I'll come to the Continental with the blood oath."

"Let me handle this first."

Smith nodded, and John rushed out of the warehouse.

Fox turned to Smith,

"A blood oath?"

Smith explained,

"An oath guaranteed by the Continental. The holder can ask the oath-taker to do anything."

"If it's broken, the Continental enforces punishment."

Then Smith waved at Marcus's location.

Marcus realized he'd been spotted, but after witnessing Smith's abilities — jumping from that height while carrying someone — he decided it was best to just leave quietly. Luckily, Smith wasn't hostile. He was even grateful that John had been saved without his needing to act.

But Marcus couldn't help but wonder — how did John get involved with the Assassin's Guild? Wasn't he retired for five years?

Fox chuckled,

"Scored a free blood oath. No wonder they call you the future GOD."

Smith smiled without replying, simply saying,

"Let's go. Back to the Continental."

Meanwhile, John Wick had already blocked Viggo's car, standing atop the hood. He shot the driver with his shotgun and questioned Viggo,

"Where is he?"

Viggo didn't answer, so John shot the man next to him and pointed the gun at his face.

The message was clear: "Talk, or you're next."

Realizing John was serious, Viggo spilled the address where his son was hiding and, under threat, canceled the bounty on John Wick.

John, having gotten what he wanted, hesitated for a couple seconds. He didn't kill Viggo.

"This is personal."

As John walked away, Viggo breathed a sigh of relief.

Smith, meanwhile, didn't follow John or pay the outcome much attention.

Back at the Continental, Fox said,

"The bounty on John Wick has been canceled."

Smith nodded,

"Looks like John and Viggo reached an understanding."

Fox was surprised,

"An understanding?"

"No finishing the job?"

He couldn't understand why John let Viggo live. But Smith, though knowing the reason, didn't bother explaining.
