Hearing Smith's words, Fox was deeply shocked. Many things today were beyond her comprehension.
"Quick, let me try out this combat power detector."
"Is this thing really that magical?"
"Let me see what my combat power is first."
Smith turned to look at Fox. Soon, a value appeared on the screen: 6 points.
Seeing this number, Smith wasn't surprised at all. Although Fox was stronger than John Wick, that advantage lay more in her skill and gun-fighting technique. In terms of raw energy, the difference wasn't that significant.
"6 points."
Fox froze for a moment at the single-digit number and asked with uncertainty:
"Is that high or low?"
Smith thought for a moment and replied:
"It's one or two points higher than an average person."
"You can compare it yourself."
As he spoke, Smith removed the combat power detector and handed it to Fox.
Fox took the detector, put it on, and then looked at Smith.
The numbers on the lens started to flicker and soon settled on a fixed value.
"9 points. Smith, your combat power is 9."
"That's 1.5 times mine."
"Let me check others' combat power."
Fox then looked toward the battle happening in the chapel. One by one, under the scanner, people's figures and combat power values appeared.
"5 points."
"This one's also 5 points."
"Oh my, there's even a 3."
"John Wick also has 6 points? How is that possible?"
"I don't think it's that hard for me to kill him."
After testing, Fox removed the detector and handed it back to Smith.
Smith put it back on and explained:
"This combat power detector mainly measures a person's bio-energy."
"The higher the bio-energy, the stronger the combat power. If one's value exceeds the opponent's by 1.3 times, it results in a crushing victory."
"As for you thinking it's easy to defeat John Wick, it's because of the skills from our Assassin League, and those techniques aren't shown in the numbers."
Fox understood the basis of the detector's judgment after hearing Smith's explanation.
As she marveled at the usefulness of the device, John Wick's fight had come to an end. Two women rushed out of the church, and soon, smoke began to billow from within.
"Smith, John seems to have set the place on fire. That's a big loss for Viggo."
Smith nodded, but neither of them cared about the burned cash, antiques, artworks, or even the evidence tying Viggo Tarasov to corrupt government officials.
In their view, John Wick walked out of the church but didn't leave. Instead, he chose a place to set an ambush.
Seeing his actions, Fox commented:
"You know what? I'm starting to admire the guy a bit—he's really competent."
John hid in an abandoned shipping container outside the church, unaware that Smith and Fox were watching from a nearby rooftop.
Soon, Viggo received a call from one of his surviving men and rushed over with his team. After checking the basement, he came out fuming and shot the priest who had helped open the vault door for John.
"Damn it! Everything's burnt to ashes!"
Viggo cursed and turned to his advisor/lawyer:
"Can we still recover from this?"
The advisor shook his head and said:
"Viggo, you know what was in that basement."
"The money doesn't matter."
John's actions left Viggo furious.
At that moment, hiding in the shadows, John Wick emerged with a Coharie Arms CA-415 assault rifle and began firing at Viggo's men.
"Ta-ta-ta!"
As the gunfire rang out, Viggo turned to see one of his men get shot and fall.
He instantly ducked behind a car for cover.
"Shit! Return fire!"
His men pulled out their guns and returned fire, while John used the surrounding cars as cover, occasionally firing back.
Unfortunately for Viggo, his men were terrible shots—practically human outlines—and posed no threat to John. Instead, many of them were taken down.
Fox, watching the battle through binoculars, remarked:
"These gangsters are terrible shots. They're just wasting ammo and serving themselves up to die."
Smith nodded in agreement and said:
"John Wick is a retired Marine and earned the title 'Boogeyman' at the Continental Hotel. If he weren't that skilled, he wouldn't be alive today."
"Back then, before retiring, John actually worked for Viggo's Russian mob."
"He earned his retirement by completing an impossible mission."
"And now, his own son screwed him over. Tsk, tsk..."
While they were talking, John had already taken out eight of Viggo's men. But his luck ran out—a loyal bodyguard of Viggo's ran him over with a car.
Boom!
John was knocked unconscious but didn't die.
Fox, seeing this, commented:
"Smith, your target might die here."
Smith smiled and replied:
"Don't worry. He won't die."
As the gunfire ceased, Viggo ordered his men to tie up John Wick and bring him to a warehouse for a little chat. Fox was speechless.
"Is Viggo stupid? Why doesn't he just kill him?"
Smith looked at Fox and said:
"When facing an enemy, even if they're unconscious, you should always shoot to finish the job."
"Talking too much gives them a chance to turn the tables."
If Viggo knew that this one mistake would cost him not only his own life but his son's as well, who knows how he'd react?
Smith and Fox tailed Viggo's group and hid outside the upper window of the warehouse. Thanks to Smith's skills, he and Fox didn't make a sound.
Inside, Viggo ordered his men to tie John to a chair and remove all his weapons. They also found a Dragon Ball on him.
Looking at it, Viggo sneered:
"What the hell is this? A kid's toy?"
He tossed it aside onto the pile of John's confiscated weapons: 3 knives, 4 pistols, and 2 grenades.
Smith hadn't activated the Dragon Ball's function for Viggo, so he had no idea what it really was.
As John slowly regained consciousness, Viggo began his monologue:
"John, let me put it this way. My men are going to tear you to pieces."
At this point, one of Viggo's men placed a chair in front of John, and Viggo walked over to begin his long-winded speech.
