Chapter 3 - ~{Chapter 1: Unexpected Friendship}~

On a cold winter evening, a new family moved into the house next door. Then a few days later, a bright doorbell echoed throughout the house. I quickly followed behind my mother walking to answer the door to take a peek at who'd be standing on the other side. It was the lady next door who had just moved in. The lady and my mother started talking and I was trying to eavesdrop on their conversation. "Hello, kiddo." The lady said, catching my attention. She had finally noticed me standing behind my mother as I took a peek at her, looking up at her as I tilted my head slightly. She chuckled at my curiosity, kneeling to my level. "I have a little girl around your age. But ever since we moved here, she has been trapping herself in her room. How about you go in there and become her friend?" She said, speaking in a soft voice. I started to look up at my mother who was smiling down at me before looking back at the lady. "I'm sure that she would love to become friends with your daughter!" My mother said. I started to pout at the way my mother answered for me. I just looked back at the lady, seeing how she was smiling at me. I only gave her a small nod. "Perfect! Her room will be up the stairs, to the left." I listened to her words before going to put my shoes on.

I had my winter hat on, walking through the cold winter air, watching as the cold air made my breath visible. The sky looked grey but blue, all of the trees were dead, and the grass had frost on it. I didn't like how this lady was basically already pushing me around and I also didn't like how my mother answered for me. I was willing to meet this girl, but I was going to choose if I wanted to be her friend or not. I walked into the house and saw boxes everywhere. The house looked empty but with a couple of items set here and there. My curiosity caught up to me as I started to look in one of the boxes, seeing a stuffed toy. It was a stuffed toy of a whale shark. It looked soft and fluffy as I picked it up, holding it in my hands. This must be that girl's plushie. I started to walk up the stairs, seeing the door that the mother told me about. I walked over to the door and knocked on it. "Hello? Is anyone in here?" I said as I tried to open the door. It was locked. "Who are you?? I don't recognize that voice?!" The girl said. She sounded panicked. I tilted my head as I started to speak again, this time a little louder. "Hey, let me in!" "Why should I?" She said back, sounding scared. I started to pout before I got an idea. "Because I want to meet you! Now let me in before I kick this door down!" I yelled back, smiling to myself as I prepared to kick. "Wait, you wouldn't, would you??" She answered almost immediately, sounding even more panicked than before.

I chuckled to myself, enjoying the way I made her panic. This was like a little game to me. "3... 2... 1-" Before I could start kicking, I heard the door unlock. I waited a couple of seconds to see if she would open the door for me, but she didn't. I opened the door to see her crawling, pushing her back against the window as she was sitting on what looked like a bed in the nook of her window. She looked scared and as if she had been crying. The room also looked dark but a little blue because of the cold light coming through the window I started to feel bad. I walked over to her, watching how she tensed up slightly. I watched how her eyes widened as she saw the plushie in my hand. "You found it?" She said, her voice sounding small and shy. My eyes followed her gaze, landing on the plushie in my hand. I gently held it out to her, watching as she hesitated but soon took it from my hands. "Yeah, I did." She stayed quiet for a couple of minutes, her body slowly relaxing ever so slightly. She squeezed the plushie a little, holding it closer to her body. "Why are you here?" she asked, making me jump a little at the sudden question. "Well, it's because I want to be your friend-" "My mother sent you here, didn't she?" she asked, cutting me off. I chuckled nervously, my hand going up to scratch the back of my neck slightly. "Well... Yes..." "Of course she did... She has been sending kids up here to be my friend and all of them have tried to out of pity. You're probably the same."

I felt a little offended as she said that. I started to cross my arms, pouting a little as I answered back. "Yes, she did send me up here, but I'm not here because I feel bad! I'm going to choose if I want to be your friend or not!" She looked a little shocked when I said that. She just looked away, looking out of the window before speaking up. "What's your name anyways?" I started to smile when she asked me what my name was. It made me feel all warm and happy that she was giving me a chance. "My name is Mia, what's your name?" I said, almost sound too energetic. "Mine is Abigale." She replied. I chuckled as I started to sit next to her, looking at her. This was when I got to get a closer look at her. She had beautiful, long, wavey, blonde hair. She also had greyish-blue eyes that looked oddly cold but comforting. Her face looked as if it was one of an angel's. Me and her soon became close friends. Wherever she was, I was with her. Me and her had so much in common, we were basically inseparable. It was as if we were twins from the soul. But as we got older, things seemed to change.
