Chapter 45 - Chapter 45: Fire Among Shadows

The battlefield was a roaring abyss.

The lesser creatures slammed into Echo-Zero's defensive lines, but the true horrors weren't among them.No.

They stood at the front.

The Four Dark Generals.

Pablo vs. Tharok, the Void Lancer

Tharok moved with deadly grace, his black bone lance humming with corrupt energy. Each thrust tore cracks into the air.

Pablo didn't speak. He blocked, dodged, and struck back with disciplined brutality.

Tharok seemed to enjoy the duel—twisting his weapon mid-strike like it was part of a dance.

But Pablo, cloaked in his battle aura, began to read the rhythm.

—Don't dance with me —he growled—.Die.

A lunge.A feint.And a clean slash to the General's throat…

Which instantly regenerated.

—Great —Pablo muttered—. One of those.

Romina vs. Aelira, the Bleeding One

Aelira's armor pulsed.Every drop of blood that fell to the ground… became a dagger.

Romina wrapped herself in protective runes, summoning shields and traps with every step.

But Aelira didn't stop.Every wound she received only fed the armor—making it stronger, heavier, more alive.

—Your body is your weapon? —Romina hissed—Then I'll shatter it from within.

She gathered all her energy into a single rune:an explosion of absolute ice, aimed at Aelira's heart.

The creature dropped to her knees. But the blood… didn't freeze. It evolved.

And Romina realized—

this was only the beginning.

Patricio vs. Vexan, the Bound One

Vexan floated, his bandages marked with ancient curses. Each one could seal, disrupt, or reflect power.

Patricio didn't strike first.He studied.

He read every rune, every symbol, every lie written on the General's flesh.

—I can see your soul —Patricio whispered—.And it's hollow.

Then he extended a radiant cross of blessed energy. The bandages lashed out to bind him…

But light cannot be chained.

It was a battle of faith versus corruption.Wisdom versus deception.

And for a moment…

Patricio gained ground.

Captains vs. The Heartbearer

This General never spoke. His staff pulsed. And with every beat came a wave of dark energy.

The captains encircled him, striking in tight, trained formation.

One distracted.Another struck. One sealed with magic, while another held the line with brute force.

But the staff's heart absorbed their energy.

—Stop feeding it! —one shouted.

Too late.

The staff glowed like a corrupted sun.A blast hurled all four captains through the air.

But they survived. And they rose again.

Because even if they couldn't destroy it…they could endure it.

At the center of it all…

Zhar'Kan still didn't move.He simply watched.

And Diego…

Waited for the exact moment to strike.

Because when a god watches…

the world trembles.
