Turning the corner, Joey saw Killua and Gon, both currently in Ren—an intense, full-power Nen state. They were clearly drenched in sweat, showing they'd been maintaining this condition for quite a while.
Across from them sat a young woman, about the same age as Killua, with her blonde hair tied in a bun. She was flipping through a bodybuilding magazine. Upon hearing footsteps, she looked up, her cheeks flushed slightly, looking somewhat adorable.
"Hey? Handsome, who are you?"
"Nice to meet you, I'm Joey. Pleasure." Joey greeted politely.
The girl quickly stood up, tucked the magazine behind her back, and extended her hand, "Hello, I'm Bisky."
Joey shook her hand, "Is Bisky here to train Killua and Gon?"
"Just call me Bisky," she smiled warmly. "Yes, I was brought here by Palm. Are you also planning to return to NGL?"
Bisky's gaze shifted to Joey's bandaged left hand. "Though it's our first meeting, I'd suggest you just give up."
Joey blinked in surprise. He hadn't expected Bisky to be so blunt. "Thanks, but I don't plan to return. I just came to get a meal, and if possible, I'd like to train my Nen and develop my abilities."
"Develop abilities?" Bisky studied Joey intently and then shook her head. "You've only recently awakened your Nen, right?"
Joey nodded, having expected Bisky's sharp observation. "Strictly speaking, I've been using Zetsu for about forty hours."
Bisky shook her head. "Then you should focus on the basics, not developing your ultimate move yet."
"I'm a Specialist," Joey replied, offering his reasoning.
"Eh?" Killua, Gon, and even Palm, who had been preparing dinner, all exclaimed in surprise.
"Specialist?"
"That's right." Joey extended his Zetsu and took a leaf from a nearby flowerpot. He carefully channeled the wallet's aura into it. Almost immediately, the leaf's roots began to grow at an impossible speed.
"Life force?" Bisky's eyes widened with excitement.
"Exactly. My Nen contains life force, and I intend to develop it into a power that can imbue touched objects with life and make them come alive." Joey explained his plan.
Specialist Nen was probably the easiest type to develop, as the unique nature of the Nen could lead to faster conclusions on what to do. The possibilities weren't infinite, but one could quickly find a clear direction.
Bisky's gaze flicked between Joey's amputated hand and his serious face. "You want to restore your hand?"
"Mm." Joey's sharp 八字眉 relaxed into a serious expression as he nodded.
"I can't help you with that." Bisky shook her head.
"Why?" Joey blurted out, but then his expression darkened. "Sorry, I was too forward."
Indeed, from the moment he met Bisky, he'd been too hasty, not properly understanding her. He was relying too much on his knowledge from the manga and not enough on reality. Why would Bisky help him? They weren't close, and he wasn't some precious gem.
Then, he thought about how he'd exhibited Emission powers during the Nen test.
Sure enough, the description of being hasty, careless—those traits matched him well.
"It's fine. I say I can't help because you don't need help. You already have a goal and an idea. As long as you firmly believe in yourself and work toward it, you'll develop your Nen. Why would you need my help?" Bisky said with a gentle smile.
"If you want to learn the basics of Nen, I'd be happy to help. After all, I'm staying here for these two idiots, so I might as well pass the time." Bisky added, gesturing toward Killua and Gon.
"Thank you," Joey smiled, sincerely grateful.
"Let's eat." Palm called out from across the room, clearly ready to move on from the conversation.
Killua and Gon still hadn't finished their training.
After the meal, Joey continued his training with Zetsu. Following Bisky's advice, he focused on feeling his Nen as it interacted with different objects.
In the beginning, nothing happened when he channeled his Nen into inanimate objects. But gradually, as his belief in the process grew stronger, the objects began to show slight changes.
It wasn't much, but it caught both Joey and Bisky's attention.
"Your belief is quite strong," Bisky commented as she watched the slight changes in the leaf. Her eyes then flicked to Joey's amputated hand. "Belief and the soul are inseparable. The stronger the soul, the more powerful the belief. With your powerful belief, I'd wager your soul is extraordinary."
"Mm, I have some confidence in my soul," Joey said, wiping sweat from his brow. He had his doubts before, but thinking about his missing hand made him even more determined.
And, with the power of Gold Experience in mind, the key being life force, he firmly believed that he could create Gold Experience.
"Hatsu is essentially the fusion of mental belief and life energy. Different people have different beliefs, and depending on the Nen system they excel at, that's how they end up creating countless unexpected Nen abilities."
Bisky explained the basics of Hatsu to Joey, "Based on what I've seen, your Nen is imbued with boundless life force. Giving life to objects is its core ability. Your idea can definitely be realized. As long as your belief is strong enough and your determination to create life is unwavering, success isn't far off."
Bisky didn't say this, but Joey understood: If he could create body parts to heal himself, his future would be limitless.
Bisky had a high regard for Joey, especially after their short interaction. She had come to understand his character: polite, humble, persistent. These were great qualities. He could be a bit impatient and careless, but those flaws didn't seem to hinder his progress. In fact, in a Specialist like Joey, they gave him a grounded and likable nature.
Joey smiled slightly. Bisky's approval felt like the highest praise.
It made him even more confident in his plans.
And now, with Gold Experience's potential in mind, Joey knew he could use his new ability for more than just personal gain. Once he could restore his hand and reveal this skill, his status within the Hunter Association would surely rise.
Maybe even V5 would extend an invitation to him, acknowledging the power to heal wounds—a valuable asset in the dangerous world of Hunters.
But for now, Joey was focused. Once he regained his hand, he would return to Emission training, starting from the basics, while Gold Experience and his life-force creation would remain a secondary power, more for healing and intelligence gathering. Combat would always belong to Emission.
And besides…
He didn't trust the wallet.
