Daniel knew he only had a few seconds left before the first Spiky Spider could reach them. However, he could not push away the urge to glance at himself. How was he going to fight wearing his beloved white sneakers? Was it even possible?
'You better have diamonds or tons of gold, you liar.'
Those clothes had cost Daniel a fortune. Though they earned him more kicks as the bullies complained he didn't have right to buy the same brand as theirs, he loved his only expensive outfit.
That's why, however much he tried to convince himself that there was no harm in fighting while adorning that jumper and cargo pants which were now too small and short for him and those sneakers which didn't fit in the picture of a battle, his mind refused to accept it.
With an angry expression, he glanced at Amellia. She offered him a smile then threw her right hand in the air as if preparing to throw a javelin.
Daniel watched as a mist of white sparks shimmered around her hand, a javelin that glowed purple appearing out of that mist.
What else did Daniel expect? His wife was a demoness. He was in a world of succubi demons. Many things, so strange and mysterious were likely going to happen amidst his eyes.
Meanwhile, Amellia was pushing her hand forward, the purple javelin shooting in the direction of the closest Spiky Spider.
As a purple beam cut through the air, Daniel saw the javelin spear nearing the Spiky Spider, followed by a squelching sound as if the crystal on the spider's forehead was made in mud.
Though the javelin was thrown with tremendous speed, Daniel didn't expect the spider to come to a sudden halt, its behind legs rising in the air to send it spinning.
'What the f...'
Just how heavy was the javelin? The thing must really have been so heavy. How else could he describe the impact its collision with the Spiky Spider made?
The big creature rolled to its sides, prompting Daniel to step aside so its spikes would not impale him.
"Boyfriend, step back."
Another purple javelin shot from Amellia's left hand, another forming in her right hand.
Not long after, purple light flashed inside the cave, then two more Spiky Spiders crushed in front of Daniel, making him step far far back.
Though Amellia was killing them with much ease, Daniel knew for him it would be different. Not only he wasn't experienced in battle, he also was in a body he still needed time to get used to.
And, not only the goddamned spiders were so big and scary, but also with spikes, so long and sharp as if they were spears embedded in their bodies. Without a weapon to throw at their weak spots, one had no way to pass past those spears in their bodies.
'Gods!'
The entrance to the cave was far away from the battle field, a maze of corridors serving as the path between the two. At the beginning, the Spiky Spiders had been emerging from the narrow corridor one by one.
Now it was still one by one but with much much more tremendous speed. It was only going to be a matter of seconds and Amellia's javelins would not be enough to contain the damned spiders.
That was not the only problem at hand. The space was also getting smaller and smaller as the spiders piled in front of him.
Daniel circled one of the fallen spiders to remove Amellia's javelin so he could also have a weapon. Surprisingly, there was nothing but a cracked crystal, vermilion liquid sprouting out of the crater in the crystal.
'Well! I'm not surprised. Not surprised at all. What else did I expect? That her javelin would be like a normal spear that...'
Amellia's sudden outburst interrupted his thoughts.
"Dismantle one of them, reach the heart and pull it out."
Daniel couldn't believe his ears.
"Why would I..."
"Hurry! We don't have time."
'Damn!'
Daniel had never even touched raw meat, let alone dismantling a monster of that size. Even if it could be a chicken, he didn't know if he would be able to do such a thing.
"Boyfriend hurry up!"
While behind a pile of spiders, Daniel could not see her. He could tell things were starting to get out of hand, though. That's why he hurried to look for the heart.
He scanned the Spiky Spider in front of him in hopes of finding a soft spot to reach the heart, but he couldn't find it.
All he saw was a hardcore carapace, so tough as a rock and without joints as a concrete floor.
"Where's the heart?"
"On the forehead, boyfriend."
Wait! Was there any biology in that? How could a creature carry its heart on the forehead?
As if Amellia knew what he was thinking, she shouted, "The heart is inside the creature. You can only reach it by removing the crystal then digging deeper into the hole."
Another purple light flashed on the ceiling of the cave, and something steel-like smashed on another steel-like thing. The carapaces of the Spiky Spiders were colliding with each other a second after another.
"Hurry up!"
'Damn!'
Daniel grabbed one of the spikes of the Spiky Spider and tried to pull it off its body. The damned thing was stubborn. He reached for the one far above his head and dangled on it, swinging his body to break the spike.
'Break you damned thing!'
This time, it obeyed. Daniel heard a cracking sound, then fell on the ground with a loud thud.
All that was left was to use the spike to remove the heart and tell his girlfriend that he was done.
'Oh! My girlfriend!'
He smiled when a crazy idea slipped into his mind. That was none other than asking her to escort him on earth, enroll into Elites Academy and help him teach some fools a lesson.
'Well! That will only be if we survive. Let's survive this then!'
With new found strength, he pushed the long and sharp spike into one of the spider's crystals, pushing it deeper and deeper.
He was about to pull the heart out when someone screeched in pain, her high-pitched voice echoing inside the cave.
"Boyfriend, argh..."
Like a professional mountain climber, Daniel reached the top of the spider bodies pile in no second. What he saw made him shudder.
