What I dreaded the most was happening!,, the NIGHT….. it was getting darker every minute, and I hated it…..
The NIGHT is when my mum come's back…the much more darker NIGHT is when dad comes back!…yea he comes much more later than her…he even sometimes comes back home by 12 am…very bad..
I hated the NIGHT so bad because it was time for unnecessary yelling,sometimes for disgrace and embarrassment and most times for not even given a listening ear….
It was 9pm when she walked through the door,actually we know she is the one,cause we heard her greeting our neighbors...
She entered and we greeted her.,.,..Tracy and Taniel went to hug her…. She smiled and was like "how are you","I am fine" they replied…
I only stood from a distance to greet her….come what may,she's my mother,but I just can't seem to get close to her…I feel like my siblings are more closer to her than me…which in actual sense was supposed to be me being closer to her! Hell I was the first born,the first girl…but I guess it's different over here…I just couldn't do it…well she does love me,but I just can't talk to her….she'd often say it,"always talk to me,I am your mother"! I tried it once actually but she did betray me….that would be a story to tell another day…..
We just never had that personal mother and daughter bond…
I went about my business doing nothing in particular just pressing my phone.,,,not in an actual sense pressing it….I was reading,…hold on,don't take it wrong ,when I say READING, I meant novel and the likes….reading romantic novels and all that shii….
I was so engrossed in it didn't know my name has been called about once?,twice?? I don't really know….,,,
Marilyn, mom has been calling you…. Taniel entered with her mouth full,and well? Milky…
"Oh ok I didn't know" I replied… dropping the phone on the bed.
She only rolled her eyes and went outside,I followed her immediately…..
Marilyn what have you been doing since, I've called you more than ten times!…..
And that's what I hate….when she over exaggerate like that...,
"I didn't know you were calling me,I didn't hear you" I said…..
"How would you hear me when you are pressing your phone" she asked me…..
"Go outside and buy me coke now!"
Ok ma….money??
"Check in my purse you would see the money there!"....
Closing the door behind me,I went outside,put on my slippers and went outside the gate to get what she asked for...
On getting to the shop of the woman,she wasn't there…so I had to still walk a mile down….uhhhh,I hate things like this….
On getting to the second shop,the man was still there,.,but seems like he had a full house….
He wasn't the only one there tho…about ten guys were sitting down there….just in front of the shop….
As if on cue,I changed my walking step as fast as possible ….automatically my voice changed….I don't just know why I love their attention on me….like hell yeah! Stare at me…
As gently as I could I told them to please excuse me,they made a little space for me…I walked in the middle of them feeling like a queen lol…
On a normal day if it wasn't at NIGHT,I would still try to buy time to stay as close to them as possible…but hell my mom was around!
She'd count down for me….who knows if she followed me down here?….
After getting the coke,I crossed to the other side of the road….I felt someone staring at me from my back,and i turned….I felt his eyes on me,but I couldn't see it .,.,.and I couldn't go back either…the thought of mom waiting for me was greater than my curiosity…..
So I ran without looking back
So sad!
