Chapter 18 - A Kid

'Wait!'

Luis stared at the dice, suddenly feeling something strange, something he only realized now because he hadn't really thought about it before.

When he stared at the dice, he felt that there were some of them also staring at him.

And he could feel a faint sense of life from them.

'Is it possible?'

He became more shocked as he suspected something.

Those dice were probably living creatures and possibly monsters.

Walker also looked at Luis as he talked to Thomas, yet he showed an unconcerned expression.

Thomas had many friends, it wasn't strange that one of the random people he had met was suddenly with him.

Only, Walker was clearly not interested in this dice game.

He preferred playing cards with the other players which was basically not fighting the machine at all.

"Thomas, are these dice monsters?" Luis asked.

"Ohh, have you realized? That's right, they are all monsters, Dice Monsters. They are unique monsters with no levels and no powers at all. And they can all share their thoughts and determine the number they will roll after being shaken. And they cannot be ordered by anyone including the croupier. There are many strong Awakeners who ensure that they will not cheat such as changing the numbers they have decided. Usually, they have already decided what numbers they will release in one day. If we're smart by watching their movements, we can actually guess the numbers. Some people succeed somehow, that's why sometimes there are winners in this game." Thomas explained.

Luis was a little incredulous to hear that, but it seemed real.

"Why does this casino use living creatures as dice instead of regular dice?" he asked in confusion.

After all, with normal dice where the results are completely random, things can be more difficult considering there are ten thousand of them.

"If it's like that, not many would be interested in playing. The bookie might cheat and the bookie is also afraid of players who might have special powers that cannot be detected. Monster Dice are more reliable and they are happy to use them. So far, their business was doing well because of them. They always get players and they very rarely have losses," Thomas replied.

Luis might be just a small person in his eyes, but he seemed not uncomfortable at all being asked constantly by him. In fact, he answered in such detail that Luis was unknowingly made to believe that he was a nice guy with a friendly personality.

After all, even good people would usually get annoyed if they were constantly questioned.

He thought deeply after knowing all that.

It seemed that this game really relied on intelligence to understand those strange monsters. No wonder the man in the white coat at the imperial school called the student who won this game intelligent.

Who knew how he could guess.

Luis was not a man with a high IQ, he was quite aware that his brain would not work here.

It's just that, his abilities might be of use.

He just wondered if one Dice Monster could influence the minds of a hundred thousand other Dice Monsters. Perhaps later he would need to seek more information about these strange monsters.

The second game continued and the result was still the same, none of them succeeded.

Luis couldn't tell if Thomas was playing seriously or not. He never once looked serious, unlike Milo and the others who seemed to think deeply to understand how this game worked.

After all, the materials to build a Power Core weren't the only thing they could get if they won. Even those who already had a Power Core could choose other rewards with high value.

"I think I'll just stop and watch," Luis said.

He still had eight plays left, but for him, it was too boring.

He really couldn't stand it.

"Ohh, why, keep playing," Thomas replied.

Luis shook his head, handing his ATM card back to him before taking a step back.

"Hmph, Luis, you don't know how to thank me. Thomas basically gave you that but you don't appreciate it," Milo said suddenly.

From the looks of it, he didn't like him from the start so he was being sarcastic.

Even though they basically had no business at all and never interacted, there were always people like that who suddenly hated others just by meeting once.

Luis was too lazy to respond, acting like he hadn't heard his voice.

After all, Thomas was just silent, so why was he the one who seemed offended.

Of course, being ignored by him only made him seem more unhappy.

Luis himself began to look the other way, especially Walker who was playing poker.

His betting figures while playing were truly astounding.

He was betting with stacks of chips that were worth 1000 Dollars each.

It seemed that he was also good at playing because he won more often than he lost.

When he got bored enough of watching him, Luis started to walk around and he was actually just looking for a quiet place where he could use his cell phone to look up information about the Dice Monster.

He wandered around the slot machine area as there were some areas in that area that were very quiet.

The number of slot machines in this casino was indeed too many for everyone to play. It might only be a new night and then it would be full.

In one area, he finally stopped because there was only one player.

To his surprise, the player even looked 12 years old.

He was a kid with bright blonde hair that signaled that he was from the empire.

His good looks were obvious, when he grew up, he was probably the envy of many girls.

His whole body was dressed in luxurious clothes that only his watch made Luis feel dazzled.

He was playing one slot machine leisurely.

Luis who passed by him unconsciously looked at the bet and it turned out to be 1000 Dollars in one spin.

One spin may only take 1 second. In one minute, it was practically 60 thousand dollars.

He hadn't seen anyone betting that high. Even seeing someone betting 100 Dollars in a slot machine was very difficult.

The total balance he had deposited was even more than 10 Million Dollars.

'Maybe his father is a super-rich man from the empire,' he thought.

The empire was too rich, they had many businessmen who had trillions of dollars in wealth. Being their son, it wasn't hard to earn a few tens of millions of dollars.

Luis couldn't help but have thoughts of kidnapping the boy.

Who knew how he could be in such and such casino on Velos 33. Normally, the elites of the empire were only on Velos 1 or Velos 2.

Of course, Luis didn't think he could kidnap him easily. Although he was not an Awakener, his body might be hiding a secret weapon that attacked people with evil intentions.

Luis was planning to go to the end but suddenly, as he passed the boy about three steps away, the boy suddenly called out to him.

"Hey you, wait there, do you want money?" he said with a sharp cold tone.
