Ethan's pov
It's been six hours and Claire isn't awake. The doctor said she just got drained out due to stress and hunger.
She was given glucose infusion to regain her strength but then she's not opening her eyes. I wonder if she eats that much and still looks like this? I literally felt nothing when I carried her. She seems weightless.
I find myself almost sleeping beside her before David and my chef bring dumplings and porridge soup with fruits and veggies.
"Really! When did you start staying with a sick person?". David teased nonchalantly.
Well I have asked myself that question but I felt responsible for her state. Didn't she work out all night for the meeting? I threatened to fire her in the morning too.
"I heard you chased her out of the house, now you seem to care! Do you want her back home?" He demanded but I ignored. I blamed myself for asking him to come, he wouldn't stop running his mouth
She can't stay with me and that is it. I declared firmly
I felt I shouldn't be here with her but then I wanted to inform her personally that she can take enough time to rest and if she needs help I can send maids over to get help.Besides for many years she's always on duty. I thought briefly.
"Anyways, I have to go now, " David interrupted my thoughts. Make sure the media don't have access to what just happened. I warned him before leaving with the chefs.
I wanted to take my leave too but then I don't know what got me stuck. I watched her sleeping peacefully and for the very first time in years I realized Claire Beauty is quite different from Sophia. She looks naturally charming.
Did I just compare her to Sophia? hell no!.. What's wrong with me? I must have been overthinking.
I decided to use the restroom to stop myself from thinking irrationally. I just stepped in when I heard the sound of the knob. I thought it was David but then I heard a sharp feminine voice.
"Oh my poor sister! What did he do to you? I wanted to open the door to see who the hell was that but then I heard Claire's soft voice. She's awake, at that moment I don't want her to see me anymore.
"Have been so worried I couldn't reach you all day. I have to get in contact with that son of a bitch before I can get here". Who's that? Claire asked softly, holding her sister for support.
"Daniel Carter I guess. Since I couldn't reach Ethan himself. I called your company line, I was told to go find you myself". Emily paused and hissed with her hands in the air.
"What happened sister? It's barely two nights staying with him, what did he do to you?" She questioned while helping Claire to sit up and continued.
"You know I don't really like him. You should back out from the marriage now" she said bluntly checking Claire's body for any marks. I watched carefully from the doorholes. Did she really take me as a woman beater or what?
I was fuming in anger as the young lady continued to blarb out. I gripped my first ready to ripped out her tongue
"Ethan is not like that, he won't even allow me to stay with him". I didn't bother listening to Claire defending me. Women are deceivers.
I jerked the bathroom door open, with my eyes burning with fire. if the young lady wasn't Claire's sister she should be begging for her life now.
They were both in shock gasping for air. I didn't bait an eye on Claire as I stormed out of the wards calmly maintaining a deadly look.
