"I'm looking for someone, I've been looking for that person for a while now, over two years and I haven't got a lead. I came here because something in me told me that I would get some answers here. So will you please help me find this person, I'll do anything you say" she bit her lips as she finished.
Klaus stared at her with a frown on his face and a vein bullying on his forehead.
"Who is this person? Is he very close to you?" He growled out, rougher than usual that even Gaius stared at him.
"Yes, the person is very close to me and very important."
Klaus's hands clenched in a fist as he breathed harshly, Serena wasn't looking at him, she was looking down with her hand across her chest as if in mourning. She cut a sorrowful sight and looked like someone who was pinning for someone who wasn't coming back.
Seeing that he could not say anything, Gaius decided to ask the next question.
"Who is this person and do you have a picture?"
"Erm, yes I did but its in my jacket which I lost"
"Here is your jacket" Klaus trapped a black fluffy jacket and threw it at her, Gaius rolled his eyes at him. Thankfully, she caught the jacket with a happy smile and rummaged around in it before finally bringing out a rectangle sized picture which she stared at carefully with a warm smile before handing it to Gaius. A burst of laughter erupted from his mouth immediately he saw the picture, Serena and Klaus both stared at him in confusion. Gaius gave her an apologetic look.
"I'm sorry...its just...nothing...I'm sorry" he took a deep breath before handing the picture to Klaus.
Klaus took the picture silently and stared at it, immediately, his eyes widened in shock as he looked at Serena and back at the picture. Serena and Gaius now were confused at his reaction.
"She is your grandma?"
"Yes, do you know her?" She asked hopefully.
Klaus didn't answer her but turned to look at Gaius.
"She was the pack's elder, but she disappeared fifteen years ago, five years before that event"
Gaius's eyes popped open, "Oh shit"
"You said she was the pack elder? What is that?"
"In simpler terms, she was a mediator where we used to live with other shifters"
Serena faltered and sat down slowly on the bed. The news was a shock to her, does it mean grandma was also a shifter?
"You are looking for her, where did she go to?"
Klaus demanded forcefully, his eyes ablaze with interest. Serena shook her head helplessly.
"I don't know. I have no idea, I told you I have been searching for almost two years now. She suddenly disappeared and since then I've not heard from her but something in me feels I will find the answer here".
Klaus immediately stood up, a serious expressions on his face.
"We have to leave, I have a feeling everything is tied to each other. She left fifteen years ago suddenly with no trace, then she leaves you and we meet. She must have known I would need you. What about your parents, do they have any idea where she might be?"
"Are they even alive?" Gaius supplied drily.
She nodded sharply, "Yes, they are but when they discovered that grandma had left they acted as if nothing was wrong. And when I decided to search for her, they tried to persuade me from doing so but I stuck to my plans and went ahead. I've been searching since."
Klaus and Gaius is swore under their breaths.
"I'm guessing that is a dead end." Gaius muttered, Klaus nodded as he ran his hands over his face and through his hair. Serena had to look away to stop herself from staring at him with ab enraptured gaze, it would not look good on her, especially when she was thinking of such a delicate matter as her grandma's whereabouts.
"Your bags, where are your belongings?" Klaus asked her.
"They are back in my hotel room, I wouldn't be out there at night if it wasn't for my bag which I had left there" she said as she gestured to her bag.
"Gaius, go get her bags" he looked at her, "Give him your keys and don't worry, he will find the motel you are staying"
She looked at Gaius in question, he grinned at her, "I'm the best tracker there ever was. This will be a piece of cake..." he has a thoughtful look, "...and speaking of cakes, I really want one now"
Serena chuckled as she handed him her keys, with a wave he left the room. Silence reined between them until Klaus cleared his throat and asked a bit uncomfortably.
"So...do you have a boyfriend?"
"Huh?" she tilted her head to the side, her hair fell like a curtain to that direction.
"A husband?"
"Huh? Why"
He cleared his throat, "Someone you can call and notify them of your absence"
She hid a small smile trying to form on her lips, "No, I don't have a husband nor a boyfriend and if I wanted to notify somebody, it would be my parents who already know what I'm off to and they wouldn't worry much because I'm barely home."
"I see" he nodded, his shoulders relaxed a tad bit as he sat on the couch and closed his eyes.
She was silent as she watched him, her gaze raked his body from his long, shiny black hair to his thick boots. Suddenly, a phone rang, she immediately thought it was hers and frantically searched for it to answer.
"Its mine" Klaus grunted, she stopped her searching and nodded as she watched him answer the phone.
"Yeah?" A deep frown covered his features as he stood up, his shoulders tensed and he gritted his teeth. After a while, he blew a breath and muttered.
"Just bring the things here, we can leave when you get back" then get hungry up the phone. Serena stared up at him, curiosity was intent in her eyes.
"Gaius just called.." he pressed his lips together.
"Yeah?" She nodded for him to continue as she stood up.
"The motel where you booked was attacked yesterday night, everyone was killed."
"What!" Her knees gave out and she fell but he made it in time to hold her as she stared in dazed shock into nothing.
