Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: A 'Syndrome'

The thin layer mentioned that he is able to fully control his physique, and this prompt was a reminder from his body. Like how a body would turn hot to indicate there was something wrong.

In this case, however, that same reaction would actively remind him through this thin layer that was configured through the part of his brain that create hallucination.

How can Heins tell all of this? Well, perhaps that's the work of this reaction too. It made him wonder if the human physique is truly a peerless treasure.

[The amount of control is capped at 1.]

Heins furrowed his eyebrows. While he found this all intriguing and exciting, using his memory to judge this whole situation, he was at a loss when it mentioned the capped amount of control.

What does that mean? What can I do with it?

Heins tried various means.

"Activate!"

"Points to my toes!"

"Abacadabra!"

"Go go go!"

"AHHHHH!"

It was all in his mind, obviously. The only thing that will come out if he screamed would be a sheering wail. Wouldn't do any good to his image, not like it matters.

After an hour, Heins was still trying, unrelenting and steadfast.

After two hours, Heins became exhausted. It's not that he was mentally exhausted, but it's hard to stay awake with this physique.

As he was about to fall asleep, Heins impulsively murmured, "Ba... Ba..."

As a baby, that's the only thing that could came out of his mouth. However, something happened.

Heins's heart accelerated. Unfortunately, the toll of his extended consciousness was too much for his little body to bear, and his head crashed against the cradle's comfortable mattress.

A cradle has never been so comfortable...

A few days later.

"Who's daddy's boy? Who's daddy's boy? You are!"

A rugged, big man was acting coy to the baby he was holding, inciting laughter and chuckle from his wife, who was cooking a meal in the kitchen. Heins, with his matured intelligent, was utterly unamused, his beady baby eyes blank and his mouth pursed.

However, in the eyes of his parents, this was a sign that he was comfortable with Regner, and they cooed even more. After all, a baby a few days old could only do two things: nothing and crying.

After playing for a while, Regner finally settled down on the main seat of the dining table, with his wife sitting beside him. Heins was placed on Lenissia's lap, his obedience and lack of wailing only magnifying his parents' adoration on him more and more.

"I have never seen such an obedient child. Regner, this child... He is special." Lenissia gently hugged the baby boy. Heins remained silent, but one could see a light of comfort shining in his eyes.

In the embrace of his mother, there was no need for Heins to be on guard.

Regner's eyes softened, but soon he remembered something, his rugged face turned serious and solemn, "My dear, I'm afraid that the conflict between the Woshtern Kingdom and the neighbouring forces were getting tense. It seems like the accident a few months prior had incited the ire of these forces."

Lenissia frowned as she whispered, "Was it the Ninth Prince?"

"Hush, don't talk about the royal family so easily, my dear." Despite that, Regner did not deny what his wife said.

Afterward, they moved on to another topic. Conversations regarding the royalty have always been a taboo in the Woshtern Kingdom, with the current regime being excessively paranoid about its image and would not tolerate even a single stain on its name.

Of course, the more it was covered up, the worst it'll become. In the light, the King may be a benevolent, righteous ruler who would not tolerate any evildoers, but it became more and more apparent as he aged that he was not, by any means, a wise ruler.

It's fine to be righteous, but without wisdom, it became inconsiderate and utterly neglectful.

Even a mere peasant could see it. The Kingdom was at its last leg. However, it seems like the Woshtern Kingdom still has its providence, with the birth of the legendary Nine Princes.

As of now, the conflict between the King and his heirs intensified. The King wished to firmly hold the old agreement with the neighbouring forces, considering that peace was the Kingdom's foundation to prosper. The Nine Princes, with their prodigal perspectives, consider the King's decision foolish.

They knew that the only way for the Kingdom to prosper was one: to war!

For peace, war is imminent.

Of course, this decision was made by the nine siblings mainly because of the neighbouring forces's lack of respect towards the established border, excessively exploiting the resources of the kingdom's territory.

In the end, the King was no peacemaker; he was a coward.

It was an unprecedented predicament, where the Royal Heirs held no enmities for each other. They only have one thing in their mind: to make the Woshtern Kingdom prosper.

Throughout the history of the Woshtern Kingdom, it was the first time the royal heirs act like brothers in arms. It was truly a magnificent sight. An expert even said that this was not a tribulation, but an enormous opportunity!

Of course, all of this has nothing to do with Heins's parents. They were merely a family of three, their status somewhat distinguished due to Regner's exceptional merits, raising his status to that of an Earl.

Heins listened as they talked with each other. At times, he would tried to hold on when his parents became chummy with each other. He expected that in a couple of years, he would definitely has a sibling, at the very least.

In an attempt to distract himself, Heins became entrapped with the thin layer in his eyes.

[Language Comprehension: 0.0001]

[Leg Power: 0.0001]

[Arm Power: 0.0001]

[Potential Growth Hormon: 4.9996]

After a few days of contemplation, Heins finally figured out the function of this thin layer.

An ability, for example, Leg Power, could be obtained by following the right procedure to train the corresponding ability. Leg Power could be trained by kicking his legs, while Arm Power could be trained by waving arms, or other similar practices.

As for Potential Hormon, Heins received it automatically. After all, potential always depend on how one's grow up, and it would grow until one reached their peak age, usually 17 to 25. An infant who was fed with the right nutritions and exceptional intake would have better growth compared to a malnourished infant.

And the best part is, for every ability he obtained, he will received one point. Each ability's lower cap is 0.0001, hence every newly gained ability had 0.0001 points allocated into it. He could decrease it further, but an instinctive warning told him that he would be utterly incapable of the said ability, so he refrained himself.

Imagine if he is incapable of Arm Power. That would be disastrous, equivalent of having arms but can't use them.

As for the importance of this cap limit?

Every single point is equivalent to an ordinary person. That mean as of now, his potential growth is 5 times that of an ordinary human being.

The difference is only 5 times in the surface, but the effect was no longer confined in such a small number. Of course, if a direct ability, such as Arm Power, it would work that way, but Potential Hormon Growth is different.

It's like a perpetual machine, where a small difference could exponantially grow. After all, growth afflicted not just an unit, such as arms and legs, but the whole body. Every single cell has its growth accelerated in a manner that would not initiate self-destruct, which was a miracle in itself.

If he could grade his abilities, Arm Power, Leg Power and Language Comprehension would be White Grade, while Potential Hormon Growth would be Purple Grade, possibly Orange Grade.

Perhaps this is the magic of this 'Controllable Physique Syndrome', a name he came up with.

Since this system-equivalance came from his physique, and it was an unique situation, it wouldn't be strange to call it a 'syndrome'.

For the rest of the day, Heins was desperate to fully utilize what time he has in his 'early' phase, trying to break the cap limit as much as possible.

Unfortunately, a baby's constitution was just too... Insufferably weak. He'd only been awake for three hours before exhaustion took over.

Heins slept very well in his mother's arms, with his mouth sucking the nutrition necessary for his growth.

Before he fell asleep, the thin layer appeared again.

[Digestive System: 0.0001]

[Points Unused: 0.9999]

When he wake up, he found himself in the same cradle he slept in just yesterday. Heins narrowed his eyes, prying for control over his body.

With the Potential Growth Hormon enhancing his growth, even as a few days old baby, Heins could do some simple exercises. The baby boy stared upward blankly.

In the world where mankind could excavate their physique, Heins was determined not to be a cannon fodder. At the very least, he could survive. No need to contend for supremacy.

With steel-like resolve setting ablaze in his heart, Little Heins tried to sat up, his movement steadfast and desperate. After a few struggles, he could sit up on his own!

Heins narrowed his eyes and laid down once again. After gathering his momentum, his baby physique vigorously sat up like an awakening dragon, his beady eyes solemn and unprecedentedly focused.

After repeating the procedure a few tines, Heins had became exhausted. Although there was no sweat, the strain was quite great.

It was only after a few times of sit ups that a prompt finally appeared.

[Constitution Enhancement: 0.0001]

Just as he was about to enter the blissful dreamland, Heins quickly put it all in Potential Growth Hormon.

[Potential Growth Hormon: 6.9994]

With a satisfied smile on his baby face, Heins's big head crashed against the mattress. It would certainly be a blissful sleep.
