Synopsis
"How can you miss a spot? Oh you are such a dummy. I can't believe my brother is married to you." Bella rolled her eyes and looked at me like I was trash. "Yea, even I'm surprised you're my wife." Alec stepped in, tall And handsome he was. If only he wasn't always so cold like this. "You're too dumb, all the time letting my mother and sister speak to you like that. I wonder when you'll ever stand up for yourself." "Can we talk, in private?" I said as polite as I could. Alec just looked me with disgust and shrugged. "Well, good night everyone. I'm off to this fancy hotel to have a gooood night!" He said, ignoring me. I hated that he did that, but I just wished I had the boldness to correct him and teach him to treat me right. "I hope you bring home a new girl. This one expired 3 years ago." Lolita said. "Mom, I married her three years ago." Alec said and they all bursted out in laughter.

Chapter 1 - Last Tears

Meghan's POV

"This is why you'll never be loved by my son," this wasn't Lolita's first time saying this. And every time it hurt me to my chest when I hear her, well because it's mostly true. There is nothing I wouldn't do for Alec, my husband I've been married to for over three years now.

"What did she do now, mom?" Red hair girl, Bella, advanced forward. Bella was the annoying little sister of Alec who hated and despised me, just like everyone else in the family too.

"She missed a spot here. Can you imagine? I told her to clean here but she skipped right over there." Lolita said, patting herself on the shoulders. Lolita was slender and beautiful like her daughter, but her black hair was real, compared to her daughter's artificial.

I wonder when you'll ever stand up for yourself."

"I'm confused, are you on our side or hers?" Bella frowned.

"Can we talk, in private?" I said as polite as I could.

"Alec, I need to talk to you." I insisted, standing behind him. He walked past me, nearly pushing me away from my spot. "But Alec--"

"--what what! Damn it, whatever just talk already." He groaned out in frustration. "You have two minutes. Come outside now."

Lately, something in me had been getting fed up and tired of the way Alec and his family treated me. It was our anniversary and I had been doing chores all morning, only for me to relax, then Lolita and Bella came to visit and now they won't leave, even though it's late like this already. And now, Alec was heading somewhere without me.

I heaved in a deep sigh and followed him outside. When we were alone, I vowed to pour out my mind. "Okay. Where are you even going to?" was the first question I was forced to ask seeing how he was in such a hurry.

"What do you mean? I gave you two minutes and I'm keeping up to time. I'm not so slow and dumb like you forcing yourself on me just because of money." He spewed out.

"Because of money?" My heart ached. This was the man I've crushed on since I was in college. Then when my grandfather mentioned getting married to him or two other names on the arranged marriage list, I was instantly filled with joy because I chose him at once.

"What? So your grandfather has little money, that old and fragile man. But you're useless in the family, you won't work or do anything to make money for yourself, and you think you can stay and enjoy my money?"

"Alec, you're...you're not making any sense!" I spat out then regretted my actions instantly. Alec's tall domineering stance covered me as he stepped forward with slow steps. When he halted, his eyes swallowed me up, this time it wasn't disgust, rather pity.

"So what? You're here married to me because you love me?" My heart sank as I heard him doubt me.

"You'll never know it until I'm really gone. And I pity you for that." I was forced to say out of anger.

Instead of him to walk out or yell at me, his head fell back and he roared out in laughter. His shoulders shook and when he reached for his stomach, patting himself carefully the way he did when he tried to manags his breath, I began to wonder what really was so funny.

"You don't believe me? Of course you won't, not now. I care for you, Alec. Ever since I was in college. I did everything to be by your side, and I've never been happier. Every time I see you, you make my heart skip a beat, but in a good way. I love you more than anything in the world, I guess I even love you more than my life, considering the sacrifices I had to make--"

"--Stop making me laugh already. My stomach is starting to hurt, ha!" He calmed down a bit, rubbing his already teary eyes from too much laughter. "You know where you had me at with your act of foolishness and stupidity? When you said I'll miss you when you're gone. You? Where would you go to? You're nothing without me!"

I froze right on spot there. True. I couldn't imagine my life without Alec in it. "I just want you to respect me--"

"--no tell me, where would you go? Back to your family? You don't even have a job. You're nothing without me."

"Is that why you treat me like trash?" My face flushed red now of embarrassment having admitted how much I cared for him, but I just didn't care anymore.

"That's pathetic of you. I don't treat you like trash, none of us do. You just allow yourself to be used because of this...fake love you claim you have for me."

"Where would I go? I could leave. Damn it, you all would really miss me and regret having looked down on me like this."

"Then leave. Be free from my life once and for all! Look at you, you're getting old from all that cooking and chores--"

"--you know how your family treat me, you can stop them from looking at me like that, from treating me wrongly like that." I cried out.

"You're an adult and can make decisions on your own. Stop being so dependent on me, woman. Your time has elapsed."

"You think I can't leave you? That I don't have a life of my own that doesn't revolve around you?"

"Yes! Exactly, you don't. Now get out of my sight, you've successfully wasted five minutes of my life." He turned to leave, ignoring how crumbled he had left me with his harsh words, then came back almost immediately. "By the way, I have a little red stain on the collar of my shirt, the one on the bed. Wash it for me and iron it too."

"We have maids, Alec," I said in a soft whisper.

"I know. Take it as a little punishment, because I know you'll do it." A satisfying smile flashed in his eyes as he turned to leave. I hated how confident he was...the way he sounded...looked at me...

Was I such a fool, a moron who would leech on a man for years even though he never loved me back once?

A tear rolled down to my cheeks and when I wiped it off, I vowed this would be the last tears I cry for Alec--no. For any man.
