"You have a lot of explaining to do Exorcist." Chief Wilson said with an angry tone to his voice. I sat there and smiled as I rested the cane against the chair.
"let's start with the beginning, shall we?" I asked as I leaned forward to see him looking annoyed already to my calm tone.
"We have reports of unusual things happening in Auraville." The Chief explained as he pulled out reports before he kept going. "A man whose blood has been drained from his neck, a woman with a slit face, cult activates in the abandoned theater. The list goes on and on." I sat there taking mental notes.
"So, you are asking for my help?" I asked clearly knowing the answer to the question.
"It was Mia's idea, but I don't like it, I think you are involved somehow."
The Chief explained as he studied me over to see any sign of dishonesty but not find any.
"I need a location to work and live from." I explained in a calm but serious tone.
"What type of location?" Officer Mia asked as she took out a notepad,
"A shop that has a small room or apartment that I can live in." I went on to explain.
"Why do you need that?" Chief Wilson asked
"To get work in this small town." I answered Chief Wilson before saying. "I think I am going to stay for a while." Chief Wilson looked at me surprised.
"Help us then we will talk." He told me as he handed me some photos. I
looked at the photo taken of a woman wearing a mask and wearing a nice dress.
"Kuchisake-onna or slit-mouthed woman." I said as they looked at me and how serious I got.
"What is that?" Chief Wilson asked.
"A spirit normally in Japan. But there is something about this town that brought it here." I explained as I looked at them before asking. "Where was she seen?"
Outside on the street where the fresh blood stain took a sad look. I walk up and pulled out my pocket watch and clicked it open. Den floated out and swayed around.
"What is that?" Officer Mia asked as she looked at the Den floating around.
"You've seen the death of a loved one before, haven't you? I asked as I saw Den float to where the body was.
"How do you know?" Officer Mia asked caught off guard.
"You can see, Den; that is how I know." I said as I got closer. Officer Mia stopped me. "Don't step on the blood."
"There is an item over there I need to grab." I pointed at where Den was.
"I don't see anything." Mia answered me as she looked at the area.
"Den bring it over please." I said nicely to my spirit. I looked as if a broken blade was brought over. It is from a broken scissor.
"Gloves please Officer Mia." I said I looked at her. Mia handed me a pair of gloves. I put them on and took the broken blade. I looked at it. "It is the slit-mouthed woman. Shit." I said as I looked at her before saying. "We need to find her."
"You can't be serious about it being a spirit." Officer Mia asked as she looked at the broken blade I was holding. Mia put on gloves and tried to grab it but her hands went through the blade.
"What the fuck?" Officer Mia was confused.
"You can't touch what you don't believe." I explained. "Try to believe and then touch it." Officer Mia rolled her eyes as she halfhearted tried. I saw her grab the blade and picked it up.
"Holy shit it worked." Officer Mia was surprised. She studied it. A moment later I saw a woman appear to grab the blade before turning to Officer Mia.
"Am I pretty?" The woman asked Officer Mia. I grabbed Officer Mia and moved her before with an ungloved hand I grabbed her face and pushed her to her back on the ground. The officers gathered around seeing me hold the spirit trying to claw my arm but unable to touch me.
"Everyone back away!" I shouted as I looked at her teleport away. She was standing there without her mask I was holding it.
"Am I pretty now?" It asked with I looked at her teleporting around.
"Den create a barrier now!" I shouted as I took off my suit jacket! A glowing blue barrier appeared as I looked around. My glowing runed hand as I stood there
"Barrier created Runic." Den said with a worried tone, before continuing, "How are you going to handle her?"
"Duto lubo rava meta!" I shouted a chant as glowing runed hands tried to grab the slit-mouthed woman, but she teleported away.
"Am I pretty!" The slit-mouthed woman shouted as it rushed at me. I jumped back as I looked at it. Any occult expert knew of the slit-mouthed woman. Well, the stories. An idea came to me.
"Yes, you are!" I shouted making it stop in it tracks. I looked at it as I saw tears running down her face. The salty tears mixed with the blood coming from the slits. I walked up.
"What are you doing in America miss?" I asked taking the scissors.
"I, I don't know." It said as it looked at me confused. I saw her change her form into a Japanese woman. I walked up to her with a heavy heart. I looked at her and touched her face.
"You are a beautiful woman." I said as I saw her face start to heal.
"Duku luva rava nato." I chanted as I saw her vanish and the barrier dropped. I opened a glass jar and a glowing white orb flew into it. The scissors shrank to a normal size. Den took the glass jar, and it vanished.
"Um, what did you just do?" Officer Mia asked as she stepped up.
"Saved your life silly." I said as opened an enchanted baggy and put the scissors into it.
"So that was the slit-mouthed woman." Officer Mia said as she looked like she realized the danger she was just in? I looked at the officer confused.
"Kuchisake-onna is a real yes." I said as I took a step walking by everyone looking at me. Den grabbed my suit jacket and dropped it into my hand I put up my hand. I put it back as I walked to Officer Mia's cop cruiser. I stood there waiting for Mia.
"Why did you save me?" Officer Mia asked as she walked up.
"I don't like mortals dying needlessly." I explained as I saw her unlock her cruiser. We sat inside the cruiser, and she looked at me. "Thank you."
"You're welcome." I said back seeing her put the keys in and drove back to the station.
We pulled up to the station as I saw the other officers walked up seeing at them staring at me. I stepped out as they clapped and nodded at me.
"Thank you for saving Mia." One of them shouted as they made a pathway to the station doors. Walking into the station I saw Chief Wilson walking around clearly unable to believe the stories that he was hearing.
"You Exorcist my office now!" Chief Wilson shouted at me as he walked to his office. I walked into it and saw him sitting there at his desk. He flipped the monitor showing me slamming the Slit-mouthed woman to the ground before she could decapitate Officer Mia. We saw the spirit teleport away.
"Your ass better start explaining now!" Chief Wilson shouted at me bout to have a panic attack.
"Believe me now about me being an Exorcist and occult expert?" I asked with a smile.
"I don't know what you are, but we thank you for saving my officer." Chief Wilson said calmer.
"So, my shop and living space?" I asked as I saw Chief Wilson sigh.
"We will put in the paperwork. But in return how would you like to be a consultant?" Chief Wilson asked as I looked at him.
"Can I choose who I work with?" I asked as I popped my knuckles.
"Who you had in mind?" He asked in response.
"Mia Chanti." I answered as I looked at him not being surprised. He nodded as he motioned to get up. We stepped back out to the desks and officers talked to each other about what they saw today.
"Officer Mia Chanti!" Chief Wilson shouted before continuing. "Step forward!"
"Yes, Chief?" Officer Mia asked scared.
"This man is your partner and consultant." Chief Wilson said as he stood there. I stood there and waved.
"Okay, I can work with this sir." Officer Mia responded as she motioned for me to follow her to her desk.
"Oh, Exorcist." Chief Wilson said.
"Yes?" I answered looking at him.
"What the fuck is your name?" He asked as he looked at me.
"Drakklin Evenglade or Runic. Either or is fine." I responded as I as he took mental note of the names. He took a walk back in his office as Mia and I sat at her desk. I looked at the papers. I saw reports of paranormal stuff going on around town.
"So, what first?" I asked as I looked at Mia.
"We got to find you a shop location Drakklin." Officer Mia answered as she got up.
"Wait what?" I asked.
"A deal is a deal. The town is willing to pay for you to open an occult shop." Officer Mia said as She motioned for me to follow her. We walked out of the station the day feeling a little brighter.
