Chapter 31 - Chapter 32.

Nyx was stunned for a moment, his hand holding his glass pausing imperceptibly. He blinked and looked away, the corners of his mouth curling up gently, but his tone was a little twisted, "... Kinda good at talking."

Ellis didn't say anything more, just stood with him in silence for a while.

Under the night, the corners of Nyx's mouth rose slightly, and the anger in the bottom of his eyes had long since dissipated, replaced by a kind of pleasure if nothing else.Although he didn't say it explicitly, Ellis knew that this time it was considered to be over.

After another moment, Nyx finally put down his wine glass, stretched his back, and said in a lazy tone, "Alright, seeing as you have a good attitude, I'll reluctantly forgive you."

Ellis nodded slightly, his demeanor as stoic as ever, "Thanks."

Nyx raised an eyebrow, "That's quite the attitude you have."

Ellis looked up at him, "You deserve it."

Nyx's movements paused, then he grunted coldly, twisted his head and stepped back, "Alright, it's late, go back."

Ellis looked at his back, sighed softly, and finally followed.

Nyx resumed his usual playful demeanor, as if the previous cold war had never happened. It was just that Ellis soon realized that this demon had learned a new trick - selling out.

For example, one time he pranked a scholar's lab again, turning it upside down, making magic potions change color, reagents fly about, and even letting his lab assistant's quill scribble some gibberish on the parchment by itself.By the time Ellis found him and sullenly asked him to explain, Nyx immediately changed his look to one of pity.

"Ellis ..." he trailed off, his eyes looking at him accusingly, "Do you know how boring it is in the Abyss?Do you know how long I've been alone?Look at these eyes of mine, eyes of loneliness, of sadness, of no one understanding ..."

Ellis: "..."

The scholar next to him, who had just had his hair blown out by the prank: "..." He had a feeling that Nyx shouldn't have done it on purpose, but only because of his demonic nature.

"Can you bear to chastise me for being so pathetic?"Nyx sighed and covered his heart as if he had suffered from the world, "Look, I haven't even had a good meal, and even my magic power is about to dry up ... you really bear it ..."

Ellis' gaze shifted slightly downward, landing on the unfinished piece of honey cake in his hand.

Nyx's eyes blinked and he quietly hid the cake behind him.

Ellis speaks in a calm tone, "So can you put down the snack in your hand first when you're selling yourself short?"

Nyx: "..." Careless, I forgot to make a draft in the midst of all the mouthing off.

The scholar is instantly sobered, no less, by the demon that's got him wound up.

Failed to sell misery.

But that didn't stop him from trying.Failure is the mother of success, Brave Nix, never give up.

Then one day, Ellis took him to one of the old libraries of the academy to check out some ancient texts. When Nyx was bored and wandering around, he saw a teaching assistant holding a stack of books walking down the long corridor, and with a twinkle in his eye and a flick of his magic, the illustrations in the books suddenly came to life, jumping and popping out of the pages, scaring the teaching assistant so much that all of the books fell to the ground.

Ellis sniffed and frowned at Nyx.

Nix quickly adjusted his state, his eyes filled with tears and his tone of voice was sad, "Ellis, you know what?Ever since I came to this world, I've been empty inside.I try to find the meaning of existence, try to use these insignificant actions to make myself feel real ... but this world is so harsh to me, can't I even have a little entertainment?"
