The four take the rest of the night off and sleep in an abandoned homestead... They get a good night's sleep. They all wake up the next morning and meet outside. Kai yawns as he walks up to them, Kai: "So what now?" Lysander: "Take a look at this." Lysander pulls out an eclipse shard. Kai's eyes widen, Kai: "HOW?!" Lysander: "I found it in the room i was sleeping in." Fumiko: "Wow! So this is an eclipse shard?! It's my first time seeing one." Kai: "pretty neat huh!" Fumiko: "mhm." ???: "How in the fractured world did you get your grubby little hands on that?" The group turns and sees Fen sitting on the roof of the farmhouse. Kai: "you!" Lysander: "what do you want here Fen?!" Fen: "I asked you a question, and I expect an answer." Fen's gaze is heavy and a bit aggressive. Kai: "We found it okay." Fen: " where in this farmhouse?!" Kai: "Yes!" Fen scoffs, Fen: "assuming there isn't more, I'm going to ask you to hand it over." Lysander: "And you think we'll just give it to you? Yeah no buddy!" Fen: "I thought you'd be difficult." Fen jumped off of the roof, creating a dent in front of the group! Kai's shocked at the amount of force his jumps exert. Fen cracks his knuckles. Fen: "I'm gonna go ahead and ask again. Give me that shard, or I'll use force" Kai grabs the shard and absorbs it's unstable energy. Lysander: "hey!" Rhea: "Leave him!" Kai then steps forward his body flaring with the shard's Aether, Kai: you and me, one on one Fen!" Fen: "you think you're capable of winning a fight like this small fry?" Kai: "why yes! I'm raring to go!" The two glare at eachother. Fen stares at Kai ready to obliterate him but he suddenly sees a shade of Kai's father and remembers the promise he made to Kai's father,
In the flashback Fen kneels down to Kai's father in the fractured hall. (Kai's dad was the former number 1 of the world 5 but Fen was still number 4) Kai: "Number 4, you are my best companion and frankly my favourite Eclipser." Fen: "thank you sir" Kai's dad: "Fen,I want you to promise me one thing." Fen: "Of course number 1." Kai's dad: when I die, please don't kill my son." Fen: "yes, number 1, I won't."
Back in the present, Fen seems hesitant to fight now as he made a promise to Kai's father (his treasured friend/companion). Fen: "Keep that stupid thing if you really want it!" Fen turns away, the others are confused. Kai: "you don't want to fight anymore?" Fen: "Don't get the wrong idea! If only you weren't his son!" Fen disappears leaving the rest puzzled.
