Daniel Kane basically had to accept being an exorcist. Mostly due to him not wanting to be executed. But in order for that to happen, he needed training. Elizabeth suggested that he should receive training from all of them since each of them was specialized in a certain skill. The first one being Alita who was to teach him how to effectively control his spiritual power.
" The first thing you have to understand is that all spiritual energy comes from one's soul. Hence, improper use can lead to catastrophic results. Death being included off cause." She said as the led Kane through the dense forest.
They had been hiking for about an hour in the mountainous forest five kilometres from the city. Apparently each of them had an allocated training area where they practiced and Alita's happened to be in the dense forest of the Rimil mountains.
Kane was obviously getting tired and tired as he didn't remember the last time he had to use that much energy. Oh wait, he actually did. It was the last time he saw his mother. She had handed him to Elizabeth to live with her and right off the bat they were almost killing each other. This had happened on numerous occasions before and had always ended in a stalemate. More on that waaaaaay later in the story. Or maybe never. Depends if I have the time.
They walked for a little while before coming upon a clearing where a large boulder stood. Alita gestured Kane to sit on the ground and sat directly opposite him. Kane took his time observing her. Being the best archer in the school's archery team, Alita was quite popular was quite a wonder.
What was mostly captivating about her was the fact that she had a kind of happy expression but lacking emotion in it. And the fact she was as lazy as hell.
" In order to fully utilize your spiritual energy, you must first learn to control it an establish a continuous flow. The more refined the flow, the lower the risk of utilizing too much or too little energy in a fight." She continued.
" Now, I want you to close your eyes and imagine a flame."
Kane did what he was told, though he did not really get the gist if it.
" Ok, now what?"
" Now reach out for that flame. Feel it's warmth. Get to understand and comprehend it. And after that, allow it to envelop your body."
Kane's imaginative flame did not feel like anything, obviously. But as he allowed it to envelop him, he felt the centre of his chest burning. Then a golden light shone from there and Kane was enveloped in a golden aura.
" Good, you're a first learner." Alita remarked. She then let Kane do the same thing for another two hours before stopping him.
She then led Kane a little deeper into the forest to a nearby waterfall.
" Are you planning to give me swimming lessons?." He joked.
" Not really. Learning to controll your spiritual flow is one thing, but doing it under extreme conditions is another. From now hence forth you shall be doing the same spiritual exercise but under the water fall."
" Ok, sounds easy," Kane said, confident in his abilities.
He took off his shirt and made his way to a rock that was under the waterfall. The water was ice cold but it ws something Kane was used to due to his circumstances. He then sat on the rock as the force of the descending water weighed him down a bit. It took a very long while for him to adjust to it but he eventually pulled it off.
Then out of nowhere, the force of the water increased.
" You honestly didn't think that this was going to be easy now did you?" Alita asked from a distance." I've casted a spell that increases the weight of every single drop of water. So good luck." She bid him and went on to take a nap on a nearby tree.
And so, that's how his hell on earth began. Not only did he have to put up with the sudden increase in the force of the water due to a weight increase, he also control his spiritual flow that was not mentoined to him how taxing it was.
And the trials didn't end over there, Alita made him do the same thing in the middle of a burning field and on top of that she once dumped him in a snowy mountain and had him naked while undergoing the same training.
Over time< Kane came up with a theory on how to control and refine his spiritual flow. As a major fictional novel reader, he pulled out some inspiration from one called Grand Horizon. He established that he could extend a network that was in his body outside to a certain radius to allow his energy to effectively flow in a pattern
The only problem that this had is that it took too much spiritual energy which was actively being lost to his environment and he couldn't keep it for much longer. The other solution was to let do the same thing with the first idea but instead of extending his flow to a certain radius, he would limit it to his skin. This allowed him to use the same amount of spiritual energy but prevent it's loss to the environment hence allowing him to keep up the flow for a longer time.
Over the next 3 weeks he would put his second theory to the test. He not only did it while training but he also did it during his day to day activity. This in turn saw him get an increase in perception, agility and strength which came as a result of refining his flow. By the end of February, he was good enough for Alita to give him a pass to move on to the next person, Fergus.

" By the way, you are a Gifted right?" Kane asked.
They were next to the waterfall, with Alita resting on the tree. He looked at him below.
" Yeah. What of it?"
" Nothing really. I was just thought you weren't one sine I haven't seen your mask."
" Is that so?" Alita descended from the tree and landed in front of Kane. She turned away from him and took off her shirt and bra, much to Kane's surprise. He immediately covered his eyes,turning red but he eventually looked at her back. That's when Kane saw her mark of a lage bow with a flaming arrow pointing downwards on her back.
" Now you've seen it. It's called Flame Arrow." She said to a flustered Kane who quickly yelled at her to put on her shirt.
