Kane quickly shot past the school gate just as the bell rang. Dangling from his mouth was a candy strip that threatened to fall should he lose focus. So far he deduced that he was doing good due to his pace and that he could make it to the lesson in time. Everything was well calculated. From the route to the exact time it should take him to reach his class. All possibilities were tested and accounted for. Every possibility except for one where a girl coming from a branch of the way, colliding with him.
They both fell and their bags went flying as books and other belongings poured out from them. Kane immediately got on his knees and began helping the girl to pick up her things. She did the same.
" I'm so sorry." Kane apologised as he began arranging her books in the bag.
" No worries, I'm also at fault here. Guesse I should have looked ahead while running," she said.
As the girl helped pick up Kane's things, she spotted a deck of cards that had a zodiac on it.
" Say," she began," Do you believe in the supernatural?" She asked , curious.
Kane guessed where the question had come from and quickly grabbed the deck that a few feet away from him.
" Um, I don't really believe in the supernatural ." He replied.
" Then why have a fortune telling deck?"
" Oh, well I kinda liked it's design plus I thought it would look cool for my collection."
" Shoot, I'm late. Listen , sorry for all of this but I've got to go. Hope I'll see you around," he said as he stormed off, leaving the girl standing up alone. She smiled.
" Daniel Sullivan Kane. Quite an interesting fellow."
