Chapter 6 - Reunion

"Sorene has also been reincarnated, would you know in which body?"

"Your daughter's."

"Yes. She didn't want to reveal it yet, she wanted to wait a little longer, I agree with her. We still weren't sure that you were reincarnated."

"What do you mean?"

"Our reincarnations weren't at the same time, I've been reincarnated for two years, Sorene and I reincarnated together, and after a few months Vespera reincarnated. You were the last. My hypothesis is that the time of death had an influence, we didn't all come together. Another hypothesis is that time passes differently here, even though there's a 24-hour day, two years apart from our deaths, but that shouldn't have been more than a few seconds or minutes in our world."

"If we're here, wouldn't it be dangerous, aren't the hero and the others hunting us?"

Cal stared at me.

"I need to apologize in advance," he said, bowing.

He explained what had happened, I wasn't angry with him, but I didn't like what I was hearing.

In my world there is something called dark practices, these are practices with spiritual energy that were considered forbidden, at a certain time, humans and demons agreed not to use it and over time this knowledge was lost, we only knew it existed because of some stories, but no one ever knew what it actually was or what it did.

He had access to the library of the great demon families, discovered some secret books, and learned how to use the forbidden practices. In short, he used this knowledge to make us reincarnate in our world, in bodies that he created and that were under my Castle, but there was some mistake and we reincarnated in another world and in different bodies.

He also didn't have an answer as to whether we were reincarnated from birth or whether we began inhabiting the bodies of dead people. He believed that our memories just took a while to appear.

Sarah entered the room.

"Kneel in my presence, you son of a baronet," she laughed. "I apologize, but it's funny that I'm in a superior position to you."

She was always like that, she liked to get on my nerves, but in a way, I liked it and even missed it a little.

At the mansion I hardly saw her, she always stayed further away from me, perhaps she just wanted to find the best moment for us to talk.

"But I have to say something, Eleonor, is this serious?" She paused and walked over to a sofa and sat down. "You could come to my room too, I'm your first fiancée, so I have priorities."

She was serious, but I didn't know if she was joking or serious, that was her problem, I never knew when she was joking or not, I only knew when she said it was a joke.

Yzi was laughing too.

"I apologize for that. Tonight I'll come to your room and satisfy your sexual desires. If you want, we can call Yzi too. One day I can call all four wives for a more intimate moment."

"What?"

"I apologize for that, but I couldn't control myself, I needed to play with you a bit."

"That's not all," Cal sat back in his chair. "I put in some devices, they were activated when the Castle exploded, the Castle and some parts of the capital were destroyed, maybe their King was killed too, so we didn't lose out, even if we get stuck here, whoever stayed there will be able to continue the plan."

I remained silent for a while.

"How did you manage to do so much without consulting me?"

I interrupted Cal before he had finished speaking the first word.

"Not that I'm angry, but I'm asking, you planned a lot without consulting me or informing me. I wouldn't have refused, I could only have asked for it to be done differently, but nothing too different."

"I'm sorry, it was my idea and it turned out that I only told the two of you after I had almost everything ready."

Cal really was the best and most intelligent of the four of us.

I still can't call him Carl. But I can name the other two.

We continued talking, he updated me on the whole plan he had come up with. But he didn't even know where to start on how we can get back to our world. So we must be patient.

"As I still don't know what to do, we need to live our lives in this world, so let's continue being ourselves in private and non-public environments, we're these humans."

It made sense, in this world there were demons, in fact several kinds of demons. Some lived peacefully with other races, such as elves, dwarves and beasts.

"I was going to forget, this isn't something everyone knows, but here there is the Demon Lord himself and he's very strong and much more cruel than any person and demon we know, but he reincarnates from time to time, so we don't need to worry for now."

"By the way, I was about to forget..." Yzi was trying not to laugh. "As you're now going to marry Sarah, you need to show off some achievements, so you'll be taking part in a tournament that will take place in a few months' time. Also, we're going to simulate an attack. You and Carl will travel to a neighboring town and be attacked by some bandits, you will defeat them and show that you have skills. That will be necessary."

That wasn't funny, but seeing me having to prove that I'm strong is something she would definitely laugh at.

But there wasn't much to do, so all I had to do was train to regain my former strength. But Carl also hired me a magic instructor, she's a beast who was considered one of the best magicians in the region, a Baroness.

I wonder how much money Carl managed to accumulate.

I got used to it after they kept repeating the name over and over again.

To be quite honest, I was gradually getting used to the routine, I practiced swords for two hours, just to keep fit, I also did some exercises, in the afternoons I practiced magic, I was a bit bad, but gradually I got the hang of it, but spiritual practices are much better than using magic.

After several days in the routine, Carl called me to go on a trip, Sarah and Yzi would stay at the mansion, and only he and I would go. There was also a coachman, which was atypical since a man in his position didn't usually walk without a lot of protection.

But that was the plan, to appear defenseless in order to attract more bandits and finish them off.

I wasn't very excited about having to fight for real, partly because I had no motivation and didn't know the real strength of the bandits. Fighting blind is not something I like.

Before long, we were attacked by a gang of 12 men, wearing torn clothes and masks.
