In a word, it directly made Olik clear about Rin's determination to kill.
"In that case, then you will give me death." Olik roared, muscles flexing as he kicked his feet into the ground, using Soru-like speed to launch directly at Rin, his fist barreling toward Rin's head.
Seeing this, Rin smiled coldly. He raised his Thunder Tribulation Blade, its edge already crackling with ghostly energy, and slashed at Olik's incoming punch.
Olik twisted mid-air, dodging, and circled around, launching another heavy punch.
The two clashed continuously, exchanging blow after blow. Their movements were a blur quick bursts of speed, powerful strikes, and sparks from each impact lighting the surrounding battlefield.
Watching the duel, Artoria and Casa stood a few paces back, their eyes tracking the fast-paced skirmish. Artoria let out a breath and smiled softly.
"It seems we're not needed for this one," Casa said with a wry chuckle. Under Rin's Pandora Field, a technique that mimicked the disorienting nature of an Advanced Conqueror's Haki-infused aura and illusion, all of the regular pirates were driven into a frenzy tearing each other apart like mindless berserkers. Only Olik resisted the influence completely.
"Huh?" Casa's eyes narrowed. Just past the raging crowd, one more figure stood their ground barely conscious, resisting the maddening influence of Rin's Pandora Field.
"That guy..." Casa's lips curled into a grin. "Looks like their first mate can hold his own. That one's mine."
Without waiting, Casa leapt forward, drawing his dual scimitars as he charged.
"What's the rush?" Artoria laughed gently. "Don't worry I won't steal your prey."
She turned her gaze to Rin's battle, watching his figure weave between strikes. Her expression softened again. There was something solid and reassuring in Rin's back that made her heartbeat stir with an unfamiliar rhythm. She shook her head, cheeks pink.
"I'd better go loot Olik's ship for anything useful," she muttered to herself, quickly retreating through the forest toward the ship docked on the nearby cliff's edge.
——–
Meanwhile, Rin and Olik were still in the thick of battle.
Their fists and blades collided again and again, with bursts of Haki clashing in the air. Rin's Observation Haki read every step Olik made. The pirate captain was tough, stronger than the average pirate, but he was already starting to show fatigue.
They finally pulled back for a brief pause.
Standing a few meters apart, Olik panted, blood dripping from the side of his mouth. Rin simply smirked, lowering his stance slightly.
"The warm-up's over," Rin said coldly, his blade humming. "Time for the killing stroke."
'Shave!'
The moment the words fell, Rin vanished from view using Soru—a technique from the Rokushiki martial arts system once employed by CP9.
He reappeared behind Olik, arm raised.
"Gravity Style Single Blade Flow: Signal Slash!"
Rin's voice echoed as his strike came down, infused with gravitational force derived from the Uchu Uchu no Mi the Space-Space Fruit.
Olik's eyes widened. The technique had reduced the blade's weight, increasing its velocity dramatically. Too fast to dodge.
'Slash!'
The blow landed a clean, deep gash tore across Olik's back. Blood erupted into the air.
"Agh damn it!" Olik hissed, staggering forward and then leaping back several paces to escape Rin's reach. He landed hard, digging his claws into the earth for stability.
"You've really pissed me off now."
Olik's voice deepened, feral. His body began to transform fur rippling across his torso, limbs elongating. His jaw cracked forward into a snout, canines extending.
He was activating the full hybrid form of his Zoan-type Devil Fruit the Inu Inu no Mi, Model: Gray Wolf. Similar to Rob Lucci's Leopard Form, but darker, leaner, with primal fury.
Muscles swelled, and his eyes glowed red.
"Wolf Strike!"
With an explosive roar, Olik launched himself forward, his speed now several times what it was before. This was the natural enhancement of a Zoan user's physical attributes upon transformation something Rin had expected.
His claws slashed down, carrying the gleam of embedded Armament Haki.
"If I didn't have Haki, that would've been dangerous," Rin muttered. With no time to dodge, he raised his Thunder Tribulation Blade.
'Clang!'
Olik's claws met Rin's blade in a flash of sparks and a wave of pressure that flattened the grass around them.
Despite the block, Rin was forced back half a step.
"Zoan users really do get ridiculous boosts in hybrid form," Rin acknowledged. "No wonder the Marines used them in Buster Call squads."
——
"Die!!"
Olik roared again, using Soru-like movement to blink out of sight. He reappeared behind Rin mid-air, aiming a crushing fist at the back of Rin's skull.
But Rin's Observation Haki warned him just in time.
With fluid grace, he ducked low and spun, avoiding the strike.
"No," Rin said coldly, eyes blazing. "You die."
He slashed upward as he turned, the Thunder Tribulation Blade cutting cleanly into Olik's abdomen.
'Slash!'
Blood burst out in an arc. Olik howled, pain ripping through his nerves.
"You're DEAD! I'LL KILL YOU!" he screamed in a frenzy. Red mist clouded his vision as he charged again, his fists pounding the ground, tearing trees from their roots as he swung wildly at Rin.
Each punch created shockwaves that shattered stone. But Rin moved like water, dodging with efficient, Haki-aided precision.
Then Rin stopped, took a deep breath, and raised his blade again.
"Ghost Slash!"
Purple-black ghost qi—a fusion of spiritual force and the corrupted aspect of his Pandora Field surged down his blade.
He struck once.
'SLASH!'
The strike tore through Olik from the face down to the groin. A massive, gaping wound split his chest, bone and flesh ripped open. Blood gushed out like a waterfall.
Olik's eyes widened. His mouth opened to say something but no words came.
He collapsed, unmoving, his transformation fading.
Rin exhaled and lowered his blade, flicking the blood off the edge.
"I told you already," he muttered, sheathing the Thunder Tribulation Blade. "It's you who dies."
He looked around.
All of the other pirates had succumbed to the Pandora Field each one slain in a chaotic frenzy. The battlefield was littered with bodies, weapons, and blood.
Only Casa remained standing, dueling the first mate in a clean one-on-one.
