Chapter 25 - The start of raid

"You guys interested in working together…"

Forsyx just sighed and shook his head.

He was damn tired from all these meetings, nor did he have much interest in them.

As for forming a dead-end team, he had no interest in that.

With him going quiet, the other two also remained silent.

Drakim just stared at them for a moment, and then he also went quiet.

Forsyx simply enjoyed the meat snack in the silence while thinking about the coming raid.

He could already imagine that, except for a few players, everyone would be more focused on finding those snake eggs. But one thing he still wasn't sure about was what those radiant bastards were planning.

First, they wanted to limit the raid group, but they had no problem with those guild members calling their team members.

It was like they wanted most players with tasks to take part in the raid, but they weren't after killing that monster Hibiki snake.

Forsyx just closed his eyes and lay back on the sofa.

He was also sure they weren't after those eggs.

Wait, what if they were after the nest? Yeah, there was a chance. A unique-grade snake that snuck into the beginner village must have had some good stuff in its nest. Did they want something from there?

The more he thought, the more he felt he was onto something.

There was a high chance that the snake nest might have more than just those eggs.

Well, he had already planned to search for the nest. Now, this possibility only increased his reason to follow through.

He glanced at Luka. If these guys were after the nest, then for sure they didn't know its location, or else, with their strength, they would've gone directly to the nest themselves.

Well, the good thing was, Hibiki snakes formed their nests underground, and only a snake could understand other snakes best.

Others may have their plans, but he wasn't some clueless chick following them.

He had his own thing going. It was just a matter of hours before everyone found out who would come out on top.

Two hours passed much faster in the game.

The moment they reached the time limit, all of them stood at the same time and started walking out of the butcher shop.

As he walked out, he saw only a small line in front of the butcher shop.

It looked like those guys did a good job.

Not caring about others, he changed into the Pipler bird and flew high up into the air.

He saw that most of the players were moving around the front part of the forest.

A lot of them were also at the market, and he could hear a few of them talking about some fake big snake rumor.

Well, he expected this. With no solid proof, only a few would choose to believe it.

But it didn't matter. The moment that massive Hibiki snake stood up, all of them would rush out of the village on their own.

He flew down to the village gate.

There, he saw others gathered on the side. He sat on a branch and switched back to human form.

Others looked at him and nodded.

That was the signal, as Cion took the lead with his guild members while the others followed from the sidelines.

They continued to move when Cion shouted, "Where should I place the meat?"

Elish shouted, "The middle part of the forest will be good!"

Cion nodded. While running, they encountered a few goblins and foxes that Cion's guild members easily dealt with.

Soon, they reached the middle section of the forest. At that point, Cion took out the meat and placed it on the ground.

With that, all the members spread out and started looking around.

Nothing seemed abnormal for a minute, but then they heard a loud hissing sound.

Hissss.

It was so loud that the sound vibrated throughout the forest.

Then, from the left side, they heard the rumbling sound of trees falling.

Forsyx gulped as he saw this 2-meter-thick massive behemoth uprooting one tree after another.

It was so massive that its slithering shook the surrounding area.

Every one of them started shaking—partly from the vibration, partly from fear.

From behind, he heard loud screams.

"Look, there! The snake!"

"Oh my god, is that thing really a snake?"

"Shit, how can we even go against that thing?"

Those guys were way more animated, but even he had the same feeling.

Fuck, this thing was at least 50 meters long.

Its dark scales reflected the light, and the scattered white scales gave it a surreal feeling.

This massive snake resembled those world-eating serpents he'd read about in fantasy stories.

While they were stunned, he heard another loud sound—this time, a screeching howl.

Aaaaaaoooooooooooo!

Forsyx stared wide-eyed at Cion and shouted, "Dude, who's the boss monster of this village?"

Cion stomped in frustration. "Fuck—it's the female red fox."

"Shit, shit, shit!" Forsyx cursed as he switched to bird form and started flying away.

Others did the same.

The next moment, they heard one howl after another from the depths of the forest.

Aooooooo! Aooo! Aaaaaaooooo! Aaaao!

With his heightened senses, he heard hundreds of different howls—and even the loud stampede coming from the deeper core of the forest.

He shifted his focus behind him and saw hundreds… no, thousands of foxes and wolves running from the deep forest, all toward the Hibiki snake.

Not only that, thousands of players were also running from the front like headless chickens, all toward the Hibiki snake.

Not caring about any of that, like a true boss, Hibiki just stood there.

Even with more than half of its body still on the ground, it was still three times the size of the biggest trees in the forest.

The massive beast, with no care in the world, hissed loudly to the sky, then jumped down with its fangs open.

He noticed that the place it fell was the same spot where Cion had dropped the meat.

When he saw the beast, a fire lit inside his eyes, and he flew to the left.

He wasn't the only one.

All those who knew about the egg left the snake and fox beast behind as they started running in the direction the snake had come from.

It was the start of the first-ever playerless raid.
