Chapter 18 - HUMAN OR DEMON

Malcon slowly opened his eyes as a cold breeze smashed Into his face, he felt his heart drop to his stomach as he remembered the name Uthred. The name alone came with an immense power that remembering it made Malcon sweat.

"What wrong?"

Tracing the voice, he found Bane staring at him.

"Nothing," Malcon replied sharply.

"Don't lie to me, I know something is wrong but whenever you're willing to tell me, am always here," he said, standing up from his bed, stretching.

"Good morning!" Lucas shouted, standing up.

"We're already running out of time mate, let's hurry and get our breakfast," he added.

"Is there anything special happening today?" Bane asked.

"Nothing particularly special," he confessed, "but they're going to be assigning us to our various classes," he added.

After taking their bath, they got dressed and went down to the dining hall where they had their breakfast. Malcon was grateful they had Lucas by their side, the school was big and if not for Lucas they wouldn't have known their way through it.

He led them to a room where they had pasted each of their names and their various classes.

"What class are you?" Lucas asked, as they all struggled their way out of the crowd that was yet to know their class.

"class C" bane replied.

"Same, class C" Malcon added, smiling.

"Odin and the gods are really on our side then," Lucas said, smiling. "The three of us are in class C," he added.

"Please can I have your attention," a loud voice echoed.

"All year one students should move to the conference hall" the voice ordered.

"Please tell me you know where this conference hall is ?" Bane asked, fully hoping on him.

"Follow me mate," Lucas commanded, with the ascent of a pirate.

He led them to a big, dark hall, where the only source of light was directed to a platform that was raised at the end of the hall.

The hall was a bit empty as many people were yet to arrive, they were still checking the class they had been assigned to.

After about twenty minutes the hall slowly got flooded with students.

A man Malcon remembered vividly walked up to the platform, he was among the men who visited them when they were in the hospital, the hall Instantly went quiet as he walked up to the platform.

He wore a black suit, his expression was still void of any feeling, like a mask. He had white messy hair and a bold scar ran across his left golden eyes. Personally Malcon thought his face was not something any first year student should behold on there first day.

"I Lord Sabstine Gray, personally welcomes you to Eldergrove" he began.

"You were all assigned to your various classes today and by tomorrow your classes are to commerce with an immediate effect. Each of your classes ranging from class A to class E currently has no point, but from tomorrow all that changes. Every action you take increases your class mark or reduces it, starting from the question you answer during your lectures, quest, competition, or any other activity the school presents for you this academic year." he said, taking a deep breath he continued again.

"Each of these five classes are assigned with an external captain, by external I mean that they are not students like you, but soldiers trained to guide each of the classes they are assigned to. At this point, I'll be introducing the captains."

Opening his hand, a paper slowly appeared, looking into it, he called out.

"Jonathan sky" he shouted, "would be in charge of class A."

The hall exploded in applaud as a young man with black long hair parked to a pony tall walked onto the platform, his glowing green eyes held an air of sincerity, and his smile ever warm.

"Laruis dam." Sabastine called another name, "Will be in charge of class B."

The hall echoed in applaud as another young man with blonde hair walked to the platform, unlike Jonathan, he wasn't smiling, his face looked dead as though he never wanted to be here.

"Solomon Godsman" Sabastin called.

Lucas clapped the most as the C class captain walked to the platform. He had black messy hair, his sea blue eyes tracing Lucas who was clapping the most, and he smiled at him, making him clap the more.

"Clara Dortmund"

And the hall exploded in applaud as a lady walked to the platform, at that point Malcon saw himself wishing he was in class D.

She had black hair that cascaded past her back, she looked very friendly as a warm smile crept to her face on climbing to the platform. Lucas looked lost in thought, his eyes fixed on her alluring fixtures. She had a well curved hips and Lucas head bouncing in rhyme to her boobs as she walked up to the platform.

"Fenades Lockhart" he called the final name.

The hall burst out in applaud as a tall young man with curly brown hair, walked up to the platform

"These are your class captains," Sabastin said, as the children clapped louder.

"I asked you to send me Vega!"

Creston shouted, as he opened the door where the other executive sat.

Looking straight ahead, his furious green eyes interlocked with a calm sea blue eye.

"Captain commander" he stammered.

"It's okay Sir Creston, am here now," The elderly man said, as a warm smile crept in his face.

"my brother," Creston starmerd, falling to his knees, his eyes clouded with tears.

The elderly man stood up from his chair.

"Ambrose is our brother too," he said, placing his hand on Creston's back. "And we all loved him very much," he added.

But Creston cried the more.

They was a knock on the door, then it slowly opened as a solider walked in, bowing.

"We've located commander Ambrose. He is seriously injured and his currently in the infirmary getting his treatment." The solider announced.

"Thank you so much," The captain commander addressed the soilder.

Bowing his head, the young solider left.

"Let us go and see our little brother," the captain commander said, with a warm smile on his face.

Leaving the hall, they all walked silently, yet briskly towards the infirmary.

"What in the seven kingdom happened here," Mrs. Rose shouted, as her gaze turned to all the dead bodies outside.

The dead solders were killed in the most brutal way, some had a big hole in their chest and others had there head missing.

"Please coming," a healer said, opening the door to the infirmary, as the captains walked in.

"Don't tell me there is not a single survival?" one of the captains asked, as they entered the infirmary.

"The only person that survived is captain Ambrose," the healer said, pointing at him.

He looked very thin, his skin pale with dark shade around his eyes, as though he hadn't slept in ages.

"We found him deep in the forest," the healer said,

"He lost an arm and a leg" he added.

"Brother."

Creston fell to the ground, his eyes clouded with tears.

"We've applied all level of medication we have and invited S rank healers, but they weren't able to heal his hand or his leg." The healer said.

"And is that the only thing you weren't able to heal?" the captain commander suddenly asked.

For a while, the room went quiet.

"Unfortunately, no." The healer replied, moving the blanket that covered Ambrose.

Creston took a step back in shoke. Ambrose body was covered in thick red veins, that spread with every second that went by.

"It won't be long before he transforms," the captain commander said, touching Ambrose.

"No, No, No!" Creston shouted.

"My brother is doing perfectly well, his just ill," he cried.

"I understand exactly how you feel Creston, but I strongly doubt as a holy knight Ambrose would want to transform into a demon,"

"No, don't kill my brother, please, I beg of you," Creston begged knowing the next option was to kill him.

"It's okay, son, it's okay," the Captain commander consoled.

"How long do we have before he transforms?" the captain commander asked.

"Roughly twenty-four hours," the healer replied.

"I want to find out the source of Ambrose illness?"

"What do you propose?" Vega asked.

"Contact a memory reader,"

"understood," Vega said, as he left the room.

"Creston I am so sorry about your brother, I truly am," the captain commander consoled creston who was crying bitterly

"And you know very well there is nothing we can do about it. If we don't kill Ambrose as a human, we kill him as a demon, but what I will promise you is that we shall get to the end of this."
