Chapter 43 - Chapter 43 - Bravery

As the Hogwarts Express continued its journey towards the legendary castle, Harry found himself seated comfortably in the compartment with Hermione and Neville. The atmosphere was warm, filled with the gentle hum of the moving train and the occasional chatter from students passing by. Hermione, ever the inquisitive one, couldn't help but express her excitement.

"I still can't believe we're actually going to Hogwarts! There's just so much to learn! I've already read through 'Hogwarts: A History' twice!" she gushed, her eyes shining with anticipation.

Harry chuckled at her enthusiasm, while Neville shifted uncomfortably, clutching his toad, Trevor, close to his chest. "I just hope I don't mess up. Gran keeps telling me I have to uphold the family name, but I'm worried I'll end up in Hufflepuff or something."

Harry observed Neville carefully, sensing the turmoil in his mind. It was subtle, but there was something off about how his thoughts flowed—a hint of confusion and self-doubt that felt artificially planted. Internally, he speculated that perhaps Neville's lack of confidence was not entirely natural, but he pushed those thoughts aside for the moment.

"Neville, just because someone tells you who you should be doesn't mean that's who you are," Harry said thoughtfully. "Bravery isn't about recklessness or never being afraid. It's about doing what needs to be done, even when you are scared. The fact that you're here, willing to take on a completely new world despite your fears, already proves you're brave."

Neville blinked in surprise before a small, grateful smile formed on his face. "Thanks, Harry. That actually makes me feel a bit better."

Hermione nodded approvingly. "That's a very wise perspective, Harry. I personally think Gryffindor would be a wonderful house, but honestly, all the houses have their strengths. I'd be happy anywhere that allows me to learn as much as possible."

"And you, Harry?" Neville asked curiously. "Do you have a preference?"

Harry leaned back against his seat, a thoughtful expression on his face. "I'm okay with any house. Each of them has something valuable to offer. Gryffindor has courage, Ravenclaw has knowledge, Hufflepuff has loyalty, and Slytherin has ambition. All of those are qualities worth having."

Hermione nodded in agreement, while Neville seemed to take a moment to let Harry's words sink in. Before the conversation could continue, the train's whistle blew, signaling that their destination was near.

"We should probably get changed into our robes," Hermione suggested, already pulling hers out of her trunk.

Harry and Neville agreed, and as they prepared for their arrival, an unspoken sense of camaraderie formed between them. They might all be heading into the unknown, but at least they weren't alone.
