Chapter 11 - Subjek A447H [Doctor Plague]

Doctor Plague is one of the most well known or more accurately, most misunderstood Hard Class anomalies. He first appeared in the collapsed zone between Level 038 and Level 121 within Level Space, wearing a long ashen black robe and a beaked mask reminiscent of ancient plague doctors. His body has never been directly seen, and temperature or pressure sensors have never detected any physical presence, even though he is clearly visible and capable of speech.

What makes him unique is not merely his appearance, but his capacity for thought. According to tests (ironically conducted by himself), Doctor Plague possesses an intelligence level approaching the "omniscient" archetype, capable of dissecting concepts, laws of existence, and the structure of reality with ease.

But he is no ordinary scientist.

He is a mad scientist, and his entire life... is an experiment.

Designation: A447H

Doctor Plague does not conduct experiments for destruction, healing, or power. He experiments simply because he wants to know what would happen if someone crossed the line and he's more than willing to be the first to do it.

Some documented examples of his experiments include:

Testing multiversal structure within a human body: He injected a fragment of The Broken Storage into an agent's bloodstream. The body exploded... but after three days, it was reborn with two consciousnesses one human, one error.

Creating conscious symbiosis between humans and anomalies from Easy to Extreme Class: Several attempts failed, but two results have since become permanent negotiators between the Real World and Level Space.

Developing a "conceptual language" that can be understood by beings from the Circle of Darkness to angels of Heaven. This language uses no sound, script, or symbols. It is simply experienced. And only Doctor Plague can teach it if he feels like it.

Unlike many other Hard Class anomalies, Doctor Plague can be spoken to. In fact, he seems to enjoy conversation. He can explain phenomena even the Transdimensional Foundation's top scientists fail to comprehend but he always refuses to explain anything in full.

"If you knew everything, you'd erase your own existence just to forget the answer."

Stranger still, Doctor Plague doesn't speak only with humans. He's been observed conversing with the Void Knight, commenting on Cripty Supervisor's experiments, and even injecting the concept of pain into The Cruelty Knight's armor just to see if entities from the Circle of Darkness are capable of empathy.

The answer he recorded?

"They can. But they hate it."

No one knows where Doctor Plague came from. But fragments of ancient records found in The Storage mention the name "Plague" in a language resembling "the one who touches between knowledge and misery." One missing page from The Ancient Book is written in ink remarkably similar to Doctor Plague's notes.

Some researchers theorize...

Doctor Plague isn't an anomaly.

He is a being born from a failed attempt to rewrite the structure of reality itself.

"Your body doesn't suffer because of a virus. It suffers because you refuse to accept that pain is how reality speaks to your existence."

"I never wanted to rule anyone. I just wanted to know if a single human had a reality structure as vast as Hell itself... would they still pray?"

Conceptually vast, physically moderate.

Doctor Plague does not kill directly. But the effects of his experiments can cause permanent glitches in the Real World or open rifts into realm-level zones that should remain sealed. And yet, it is precisely for this reason that he has not been terminated.

Many high ranking members of the Anomaly Foundation consider him too valuable to destroy. Some of his experiments have even been used in countermeasures against Level Space Collapse and in studies on Void Contamination.

"My experiments will never end. Because reality itself is an unfinished experiment."

"And I'm just the doctor who happens to know where the wound is."
