The sunlight illuminated Damarion's face, causing his eyes to shimmer like black diamonds as he stares out at the kingdom through the window. I walk over to him and stand beside him.
I watch as the people who look as small as ants, thanks to the distance, move through the streets of Blood Crescent.
"I'm afraid." He whispers, and I raise a brow as my eyes once again find his face. But his eyes don't leave the view before us. Not once.
"Hundreds of kings have succeeded in their duty. They all kept the oaths they took when they became king… To keep Blood Crescent at the top of the realm no matter what…" He begins, and I turn back to the kingdom. At the stone-paved streets and lavish houses.
"But I fear now that it's my turn, I will fail. I just might be the king people will remember as the one who brought about Blood Crescent's downfall." He continues, and I let out a breath before turning to look at him, and finally, he looks at me.
