Chapter 4 - [4]

"Do I have more abilities besides being immune to vampires trying to control my mind or reading minds?" Sookie asks me after a while of us laying on my bed together with her head on my chest and her left leg thrown over mine, her left hand idly drawing shapes on my chest.

"Besides being vampire bait, you mean?" I tease Sookie and receive a hearty sigh and a slap to the chest in return.

"Come on Jace, I'm being serious, you can literally turn people into mist with the power of your mind and cure cancer with a touch of your hand…I have to be able to do something else besides hear people's thoughts!" Sookie grows more passionate with every word and I find my twin sister straddling me, both her hands on my chest, her face flushed, eyes filled with desperation.

"Well, we're only part fae…but I noticed something earlier…when you were upset with me, your hands…kinda glew yellow…I think you might have some kind of photokinetic ability…but it might be finite as in you use it too much and you lose it." I murmur my hands on Sookie's hips, my fingers starting to slide downwards, my resistance to my twin sister's sensuality slipping slightly in this situation.

"Sookie." My voice comes out thick.

"Jace…" Sookie's voice comes out soft and unsure, her hips starting to wiggle on top of me.

"Get off…" I murmur gently Sookie's eyes fill with reluctance.

"Please…we've never crossed that line Sook and I don't think either one of us really wants to." I mutter Sookie nods but her grinding starts to increase, seeing as she isn't going to stop on her own, I push her off top of me and onto the bed.

"I'm sorry!" Sookie shouts and I can tell she's crying as she jumps off of my bed and runs to the door that leads down into the shop, I release a sigh and cover my eyes with my forearm, a strong feeling of guilt for what I'd done to my sister but it was better than giving Bill Compton a blood connection to her…and for the guilt boner straining against my jeans.

"I'm sorry too Sook." I murmur to my empty home, though I'd never truly regret healing Sookie enough to never do it.

'My healing's side effect must be stronger for her because of some sort of resonance of us being twins and of Fae blood.' I internally process while getting out of bed, stopping to grab a work shirt I head down into my shop, and begin working on the finishing touches for a 52 Buick LeSabre, all blacked out but with white walls in the front.

"I love how much this car looks like it came right out of the old Batman cartoon." I murmur as I start putting the chrome back on it which I personally feel is a mistake and that it should have all new custom black chrome but the owner didn't like that she wanted to keep it as factory as possible.

"You know…now that I think about it…I haven't actually met the owner of this beauty in person…and our conversations is mostly through voice mails…unless it's night ti-ah fuck, I'm restoring a car for a vampire!" I groan as I can't help but remember the brown stains in the trunk and back seat upholstery, which I'm now starting to think wasn't from rust…not to mention how the car was just towed here during the day and left with the customer only calling after dark to ask me to restore to as near as new as possible.

Part of me wants to stop working on the car and push it outside and tell the owner to come get it but it's not the car's fault and money is money.

I complete the work on the Buick though the usual joy I feel at completing a restoration is muted almost completely absent now, looking out the open garage bay door I find sunset is rapidly approaching.

Letting out a sigh, the urge to just go upstairs and go to sleep is strong…when Sookie's ugly yellow little Honda rust bucket pulls into my driveway.

Sookie comes running over to me and nearly knocks us both to the ground in a hug that is more like a tackle.

"Sook, what's wrong?"

"Jason was arrested and Mawdet Perkins was found dead in her home!" Sookie cries against my chest.

"Ahh, shit!" I groan out, as something I knew but had forgotten about until now comes to the surface of my conscious thoughts…something moderately important from cannon.

"Jason couldn't have done it, he can't even hurt a fly!" Sookie sobs against my chest, and I arch an eyebrow at that, because Jason has literally killed flies his entire life…

"I'll call my lawyer Sookie, everythings gonna be alright, just let big brother Jace take care of it." I reassure and tease Sookie all at the same time but Sookie isn't in the mood for our usual teasing of who's the eldest twin at the moment.

Reaching into my back pocket I pull out my phone and hit the speed dial for Katelyn Shormire, a lawyer and lawman's daughter from the next town over who has an office in L.A.

"Jace is everything alright?!" Katia asks me her concern for me so thick in her voice I feel my head spinning.

"Uhh, yeah I'm fine Katie…I uh need your help Jason has been arrested as a suspect in a murder the woman was one of his many fuck buddies and a vampire groupie." I reply to her and hear Katie release an at ease sigh.

"I'll be there as soon as I can Jace, thanks for calling me…maybe we can get dinner…"

"I'd like that Katie…see you when I see you…" I reply to her happily, Sookie looks up at me with her watery blue eyes, a smirk on her face.

"See you Jace…" I can hear the happiness in Katie's reply as she hangs up.

"So your hot lawyer friend who you've had a crush on forever is your first call…" Sookie snickers and I wipe her tears away with my thumb leaving grease marks on her cheeks.

"Shuthup, crybaby…" I mutter while looking away from my big sister's knowing look.

Sookie giggles and stands up on her toes and kisses my lips nearly making me push her away, "Sookie what are you doing?!"

"It's funny seeing the way you blush!" Sookie snickers and pats my face with her right hand cupped slightly.

"You're evil!" I complain making Sooki giggle even harder.
