The next morning, Frima set off for the location of the organization's door, coordinates of which had been sent to him by Ray. As he walked, he muttered quietly to himself.
"Geez… I didn't expect Ray to contact me and send the location. We're literally in different dimensions."
When he arrived at the location, Frima squinted suspiciously. The door to the headquarters was seemingly hidden inside an abandoned house. He spoke to himself in his mind.
"Am I seeing this right? The coordinates clearly point here… But why an empty house? Don't tell me this is a setup."
A few minutes later, a dimensional gate suddenly appeared at the front of the house. From within, Hina stepped out, waving cheerfully.
"Good morning, Frima! Come on in, everyone's already waiting in the meeting room, including Commander Rhaze," she said warmly.
Frima nodded and returned the greeting. "Good morning, Hina. Alright, I'm ready."
"Great, let's head to the meeting room," Hina replied as she walked beside him.
When they finally arrived at the meeting room, Rhaze greeted Frima with a warm smile.
"Welcome, Frima. Please, come in," he said.
"Thanks." Frima replied, genuinely pleased by the warm reception.
But the moment he stepped inside, he could feel something was off. The other members were giving him cold, judgmental stares—except Rhaze and Hina.
Feeling nervous, Frima was about to freeze up, but Rhaze spoke up to ease the tension.
"Relax. Don't stress yourself out, just be cool," he said with his usual laid-back tone.
Frima took a deep breath and slowly exhaled. After calming himself a bit, he introduced himself.
"My name is Frima Erlangga. I'm the newest member of the Keeper of Dimension Door organization. Nice to meet you all, and I look forward to working with you," he said politely.
Rhaze clapped his hands and gestured to a small girl with blonde hair and heterochromatic red-blue eyes.
The girl stood up, her expression blank and cold.
"Nice to meet you. I'm Rachel L. Slyvain," she said curtly. "Even if I'm a half-vampire, don't expect to get close to me."
Frima felt awkward at her icy tone. He chuckled lightly and scratched the back of his head.
"Haha… Alright, fair enough."
Next, a bulky, muscular hobgoblin stood up enthusiastically.
"I'm Benn! A strong and mighty hobgoblin! Nice to meet you, brother!" he said with a big grin.
Frima stared blankly at him. For some reason, his mind immediately flashed to the first episode of that infamous goblin-slayer anime.
"Why… why did that have to come to mind now…?" he thought.
Lastly, a man with dark hair and piercing golden eyes stood up. His calm presence stood out among the group.
"Nice to meet you. I'm Rezha Dragnail. A human with dragon blood," he said in a cool but distant tone.
Frima scanned the room, slightly confused. The number of members was far fewer than he expected.
"Huh? That's it?" he blurted out without thinking. "And why didn't Ray and Hina introduce themselves?"
Ray, who had been casually sitting in the corner of the room, responded without even glancing up from his cup of coffee.
"What for, idiot? It's a waste of time," he said flatly before sipping his drink.
Frima instantly felt irritated by his response.
"Idiot?! The nerve of this guy…" he grumbled internally, fighting the urge to fire back.
After the introductions were over, all the members returned to their respective seats. Rhaze turned to Frima.
"Frima, have a seat next to Rachel," he instructed.
Frima nodded and moved toward the chair indicated. He glanced at Rachel and gave her a friendly smile.
But instead of smiling back, Rachel shot him a cold glare, a silent warning to not get too friendly.
Frima immediately reacted in an exaggerated manner, slouching with mock despair and pretending to cry.
"So cold! I just wanted her to smile," he lamented inwardly.
Rhaze chuckled lightly at their interaction, then cleared his throat to draw everyone's attention.
"Alright, since we have a new member with us, I'll go over our core duty again as members of the Keeper of Dimension Door," he said, now with a serious tone.
"Our mission is to lock and safeguard dimensional gates from threats that seek to disrupt the balance between worlds," Rhaze continued.
"This task is not to be taken lightly—one small mistake could lead to catastrophic consequences. Understood?"
The other members nodded in understanding, clearly already familiar with the weight of their duty.
Frima, however, raised his hand, signaling he had a question.
"May I ask something?" he said.
Rhaze gave a nod, signaling him to go ahead.
"What happens if we fail to lock a dimensional door?" Frima asked seriously.
The room went silent for a moment. Rhaze took a deep breath before responding, his expression more solemn than before.
"That's a good question," he said. "If we fail to seal a dimensional gate, it could lead to a forced fusion between two dimensions. This would disrupt the balance and could be devastating to all life within."
Frima swallowed hard, tension creeping into his chest at the thought.
Rhaze continued, his voice heavier now.
"In the past, before I joined, the organization once failed its mission. They weren't able to lock a gate in time… and two dimensions collided and merged forcibly."
The silence in the room deepened. Even Ray, who was usually unfazed, stared at the table with a grim expression.
"And the result?" Frima asked quietly.
Rhaze sighed.
"All life in both dimensions… was wiped out."
Frima felt goosebumps rise across his arms.
"It was one of the greatest disgraces in Keeper of Dimension Door history," Rhaze added. "After that, the central authority tightened regulations to ensure such a failure never happens again."
He ended his explanation, letting the heavy atmosphere hang in the room. Frima was starting to grasp the full seriousness of his new role—this wasn't just a job, it was a matter of survival for entire realities.
Frima slowly raised his hand again, still troubled by a lingering question in his mind.
"Rhaze, I have another question," he said. "How is it that all of you can speak Indonesian fluently? I mean, we're clearly not in a world where that should be possible, right?"
Rhaze gave a faint smile and tugged down the collar of his shirt just enough to reveal a small band circling his neck.
"The answer's simple," he said, patting the band. "This is a translator collar."
Frima squinted, examining the collar with curiosity.
"All of us wear one so we can communicate across different dimensions. It automatically translates any spoken language, allowing everyone to understand each other."
Then Rhaze pointed toward Ray, who was still lounging in the corner, sipping his coffee without a care in the world.
"And him," Rhaze continued, "he's the one who invented the collar and also built the entire operator's room. Ray is the reincarnation of a genius scientist."
Frima stared at Ray in disbelief.
"A reincarnated genius scientist? You've got to be kidding me."
After answering the question, Rhaze returned to the main topic.
"Now then," he said, his tone growing more serious. "It's time for me to explain the rules of this organization. Listen carefully."
He looked around the room, making eye contact with each member before continuing.
"First, we are strictly forbidden from using dimensional keys for personal gain."
"Second, once you obtain a key, your top priority is to seal the dimensional gate before anything undesirable can slip through."
"Third, never delay your duties. Each gate has a time limit, and negligence could lead to disaster."
"Fourth, missions must be taken according to your level and rank. No one is allowed to randomly choose missions without proper authorization."
Rhaze paused for a moment. His gaze grew sharper, and his presence suddenly felt much heavier, weighing down on everyone in the room.
"And lastly…" his voice turned cold, almost chilling. "Anyone who commits treason—"
His eyes swept over each of them, intense and unflinching.
"I won't hesitate to personally execute them."
The room fell into utter silence. Every member instinctively lowered their heads, the gravity of Rhaze's words pressing down like a dense fog. Even Frima, still new and just getting used to everything, could feel the suffocating tension that radiated from their leader.
After finishing the explanation about the organization's duties and rules, Rhaze bent down and pulled something out from under the table, placing it right in front of Frima.
"Frima… this is for you," he said, sliding over a set of items: a uniform, a translator collar, and a pair of earphones.
Frima looked at the items with a mix of feelings swirling in his chest.
"Starting today, you are officially a part of the Keeper of Dimension Door," Rhaze continued. "I hope you carry out your duties well... and that you find your purpose here."
Rhaze's warm smile hit something soft inside Frima. He accepted the uniform with a hesitant heart, but still nodded firmly.
"Thank you, Chief Rhaze. I really appreciate this," he said sincerely.
However, as he got a clearer look at the uniform in his hands, his expression began to shift. His eyes narrowed slightly, and a confused furrow appeared between his brows.
"Huh? Wait a minute... this is just a white shirt and black slacks?" he thought, stunned. "Isn't this what people wear to job interviews or office work?"
Slowly, he lifted his head and looked around at the other members. They were all wearing the exact same thing—white and black uniforms—but their faces radiated pride and confidence, as if this were the most epic outfit they could ever wear.
Frima fell silent, staring back down at the uniform in his hands.
"Seriously? There's no cooler design than this?" he muttered internally with a sigh.
But seeing the others wear it with such conviction, he could only surrender to the strange but sincere aesthetic of it all.
"Well... at least it's something I'm used to wearing," he thought, resigned.
