Chapter 173 -  Caged Bird

One year later.

Penacony remained as vibrant as ever—the Planet of Festivities more dazzling than before.

Few seemed to remember what had transpired. Yet some, upon seeing a stray feather, would recall that day's searing flames—and dare not sin again.

Greedy capitalists now enforced welfare policies, guaranteeing breaks and paid leave.

Criminals turned themselves in, as if only prison could offer peace.

Clickbait journalists began documenting the truth—eternalizing those burning wings in history's annals.

This was still the Land of Dreams. Nothing had changed.

And yet, everything had.

Former Oak Family head Anming—who sought to merge Penacony into Eden—was slain by Harmony's Maiden, Robin. Stripped of Family status, he was branded an eternal traitor.

Goethe nominated Robin as successor. She refused. Sunday assumed the mantle instead.

On screens, Robin's stardom reached unprecedented heights. Her fans worshipped like devout believers, praising her every act.

Planets she visited flourished. Her white wings seemed magical, spreading happiness.

"To Save a Heart from Sorrow" achieved the impossible—all five singles simultaneously topped galactic charts.

There would never be another like her. The brightest star in the cosmos.

Future eras might call this "The Age of Robin."

Legends rise from hardship. The world suffered—so Robin brought light.

Her influence grew terrifying, eclipsing even Penacony itself.

To the masses, Robin was perfection—kind, beautiful, graceful. Every virtue embodied.

As if she'd become a "god."

Only Sunday knew:

Robin hadn't genuinely smiled since that day.

Every stage grin was performance.

"Robin."

"Hm? Thanks, Brother."

She let him polish her halo.

Sunday studied his sister. So close, yet untouchable.

Since that day, she'd become a stranger.

An invisible cage barred him from her heart.

The superstar persona never came off.

Anming's name turned taboo—never spoken, as if forgotten.

"Brother, I've got that meeting with Mr. Goethe tonight. I'll head home first." She smiled. "Don't overwork as Family Head."

"Goethe?"

"Just minor things."

With a wave, she drove off—

To that "home" she rarely visited now.

Hours early, she collapsed onto her bed, shoes still on.

The dim room was a mess—clothes strewn about, the mirror draped with coats, walls plastered with Anming's photos.

Her teal eyes reflected phone glare as she scrolled:

[Who gave him the right to judge? Playing god?]

[If not for Robin, Penacony would've been dust]

[Praise the Bird!]

[Wasn't he banging Robin?]

[As if he deserved her lol]

A single search for Anming summoned endless vitriol.

Robin knew the truth—Anming's heart had been pure. His methods, flawed.

Only Caspelinat-VIII had paid the ultimate price.

Penacony's judgment was reversed by her Harmony, rendered a fever dream.

She understood the hatred. To most, Anming was a would-be destroyer.

The Family's verdict and IPC's corroboration sealed his legacy.

This was his deserved end.

"Savages..."

The whisper tore from her lips.

How could they fathom what Anming meant to her?

Yet she had to smile at them daily—

Was this the world without him?

Her halo flickered wildly as she clutched Anming's photos. "I miss you."

What was so wrong with Eden?

At least he was there.

Silent sobs wracked her. No one remained to murmur, "Don't cry, little bird."

Anming had been her sky.

Without him, she was the caged one.

How could a trapped bird smile truly?

She'd gained the freedom she once craved—

At the cost of her soulmate.

Goethe's Office

Unchanged since that fateful day.

He gazed at Penacony's glittering night. "Years ago, Anming signed his contract here—to become Order's Child."

Robin smiled faintly. "Fate's tracks were laid long ago."

"Who could've predicted this?"

Goethe drew the curtains, stern. "You grasp the consequences?"

She chuckled. "What have I left to lose?"

"I upheld my vow—Sunday leads the Oak Family. Now you..."

"I'll honor mine."

The white feathers behind her ears darkened to black.

Her halo blazed with unprecedented radiance—

Harmony and Order intertwining in a singular melody.

"Become..."

"Order's Saint."
