Chapter 17 - Wolfpack Of The Crimson Moon Pt8

Time seemed to slow as Kai and Tamer faced off, their eyes locked in a fierce stare. The air was heavy with tension, the silence between them oppressive. The clearing, bathed in the faint light of dawn, was a blur of trees and underbrush, the only sound the distant call of a bird.

Then, without warning, Tamer vanished. One moment, he was standing before Kai; the next, he was a blur of motion, his daggers slicing through the air with deadly precision. Kai's reflexes kicked in, his sword flashing upward to block the attack. The force of the blow sent shockwaves through Kai's arm, the vibration humming through the metal.

Tamer reappeared, his eyes blazing with intensity. Kai countered with a swift strike, his sword slicing toward Tamer's neck. But instead of biting deep into Tamer's flesh, the sword bounced off, the force of the impact sending Kai stumbling backward. The sound of clashing steel echoed through the clearing, the earth shaking beneath their feet.

Tamer retaliated, his daggers slicing toward Kai's chest. Kai raised his sword to block, but Tamer's attack was too strong, sending Kai flying across the clearing. Kai crashed to the ground, his body throbbing in pain. The scent of damp earth and leaves filled his nostrils as he struggled to get back to his feet.

Tamer approached him, his eyes gleaming with intensity. Kai launched himself at Tamer, his sword slicing through the air. Tamer blocked the attack, but Kai was relentless. He landed a series of swift attacks, each one aimed at a different part of Tamer's body. But Tamer's body was impenetrable, each blow bouncing off with a loud clang.

The fight continued, with Kai landing blow after blow, each one bouncing off Tamer's body. Tamer retaliated, his attacks sending Kai flying across the clearing. Kai's body was battered and bruised, his muscles screaming in pain. But he refused to yield.

The sky was lightening, the stars fading as the sun prepared to rise. The air was filled with the sweet scent of blooming flowers, a stark contrast to the violence of the battle. Kai stumbled backward, his chest heaving with exhaustion. Tamer's eyes gleamed with intensity, his movements becoming more aggressive.

Kai's eyes darted toward Shinji and Lila. "Lila, have you healed Shinji?" he asked, his voice low and urgent.

Shinji stood up, nodding his head. "I'm all healed," he said, his eyes fixed intently on Tamer.

Lila also stood up, nodding her head. Kai smiled, a fierce glint in his eye. "Okay, guys. Morning is about to rise. Let's hold out until then."

He turned to Lila. "Lila, get ready with your magic. Shinji, wait for moments to strike while I'm distracting Tamer."

Tamer smiled, his eyes gleaming with amusement. "Okay, so we don't have all day or should l say night. Are you coming or not?" he asked, his voice dripping with sarcasm.

Kai charged forward, his sword slicing through the air with a deadly whoosh. Tamer met him head-on, their blades clashing in a flurry of steel and sparks that illuminated the darkening sky. Shinji darted to the side, his daggers at the ready.

Lila stepped forward, her hands weaving intricate patterns as she unleashed a blast of magic. A wave of flame erupted from her hands, engulfing Tamer in a fiery inferno that crackled and roared like a living thing. The flames danced across Tamer's body, casting flickering shadows on the surrounding trees.

But Tamer didn't even flinch. His impenetrable body made him immune to the flames, and he countered with a swift strike of his dagger, sending Kai flying backward, crashing to the ground with a thud that shook the earth.

The sound of Tamer's dagger slicing through the air was like a deadly snake hiss, and Shinji dodged the attack with ease. But Tamer was relentless, and his dagger sliced toward Shinji's chest.

Shinji tried to dodge, but Tamer's attack was too fast. The dagger bit deep into Shinji's shoulder, sending him crashing to the ground with a cry of pain.

Lila's eyes widened in alarm, and she quickly stepped forward, her hands weaving intricate patterns as she unleashed a blast of healing magic. The magic washed over Shinji, healing his wounds and restoring his strength.

As Shinji struggled to his feet, Tamer's eyes flicked toward Lila, and he charged toward her. Kai quickly scrambled to his feet, his eyes fixed intently on Tamer.

With a fierce cry, Kai threw himself in front of Lila, his sword flashing as he intercepted Tamer's attack. Tamer's dagger hit Kai's, sending him crashing to the ground with a thud.

The sound of Tamer's dagger slicing through the air was followed by the scent of blood and sweat, filling the air with a metallic tang. Lila's eyes widened in alarm, and she quickly stepped forward, her hands weaving intricate patterns as she unleashed a blast of healing magic.

The magic washed over Kai, healing his wounds and restoring his strength. Kai struggled to his feet, his eyes fixed intently on Tamer.

"Okay guy it seems like the sun is about to rise, let's hold out till then," he growled, charging forward with a fierce battle cry.

Tamer met him head-on, their blades clashing in a flurry of steel and sparks. Lila stepped forward, her hands weaving intricate patterns as she unleashed a blast of ice magic. The air around Tamer seemed to freeze, the sound of cracking ice filling the air as Tamer broke through the frozen barrier with ease.

Shinji darted forward, his daggers flashing as he aimed for Tamer's exposed back. But Tamer was too fast, and he quickly turned to face Shinji. His dagger sliced toward Shinji's chest, sending him stumbling backward.

Kai quickly came to Shinji's aid, his sword flashing as he struck at Tamer. But Tamer's body was impenetrable, and Kai's sword bounced off again.

The fight continued, with Kai, Shinji, and Lila exchanging blow after blow with Tamer. But despite their best efforts, Tamer seemed to be gaining the upper hand. His impenetrable body made him nearly invincible.

The sound of villagers grew louder in the distance, their voices carrying on the wind, mingling with the scent of smoke and sweat that filled the air.

Tamer's smile grew wider as he gazed at Nobles. "It seems like we're about to have some unwanted visitors," he said, his voice dripping with amusement. "I don't want any of these villagers to know that I was the one controlling the wolves, so I'll be taking my leave."

The Nobles exchanged shocked glances, their faces pale with exhaustion. Tamer's sudden departure caught them off guard, and they stumbled backward, their eyes fixed on Tamer.

"But don't think this is the last you've seen of me, Kai," Tamer continued, his eyes glinting with malice. "You've given me a bit of entertainment, and I must say, it's been a while since I've had this much fun. I'll be seeing you again soon."

As Tamer spoke, his eyes seemed to gleam with an evil intensity, his smile twisting into a cruel grin. The Nobles felt a chill run down their spines as Tamer's gaze swept over them.

"And as a parting gift, I'll leave you with a little something to remember me by," Tamer said, his voice dripping with sarcasm.

Before Kai and his teammates could react, Tamer vanished and reappeared in front of Kai. "Kai, here is your goodbye present," Tamer sneered, holding up his dagger.

Shinji screamed, "Kai, look out!" as Tamer threw one dagger at Kai's feet. Kai grunted in pain as he tried to step away, but the dagger pinned his foot to the ground, holding him in place.

Tamer held up another dagger, aiming it straight at Kai's stomach. Shinji tried to run forward to intercept Tamer, but he was too far away.

Just as the dagger was about to stab Kai, Lila jumped forward, positioning herself between Kai and Tamer. The dagger sank deep into her stomach, and she cried out in pain.

Tamer backed away, a smile spreading across his face. "You're one lucky man, boy," he said, his voice dripping with sarcasm. "Not every lady would take a dagger for someone else."

As Tamer spoke, his daggers disappeared and reappeared in his hands. Kai jumped forward, catching Lila as she began to fall. Her blood soaked through her clothes, staining Kai's arms and chest.

Lila's eyes fluttered open, and she gazed up at Kai with a weak smile. "Kai..." she whispered, her voice barely audible.

Kai's face twisted in anguish as he held her close. "Lila, no, don't talk. I'll find a way to heal you, I promise.", Kai's eyes welled up with tears as he held Lila close.

Lila's smile faltered, and her eyes began to droop. "I'm sorry, Kai... I didn't mean to... get hurt."

Kai's grip on Lila tightened, his heart racing with fear. "Lila, no! Don't apologize. This isn't your fault. Just... just stay with me, okay?"

Lila's eyes fluttered closed, and her body went limp in Kai's arms. Kai's face contorted in despair as he held her close, his mind racing with thoughts of how to save her.

Shinji rushed to Kai's side, his eyes wide with worry. "Lila! Oh no, Lila!" he exclaimed, his voice shaking.

Kai looked up at Shinji, his eyes blazing with determination. "We need to find a way to heal her, Now."

Tamer's smile grew wider as he backed away, his eyes glinting with malice. "Goodbye, Nobles," he said, his voice dripping with sarcasm. "I'll be seeing you again soon."

Kai's gaze snapped toward Tamer, his eyes blazing with fury. "You'll pay for this, Tamer!" he shouted, his voice echoing through the air. "I'll make sure you regret ever doing this!"
