James made his way downstairs with Leslie clinging lazily to his arm.
When they got halfway, she stopped him and gave him a quick kiss on the lips.
"Remember, we can't let my mom know yet," she said, before going back upstairs.
Janes smiled, shaking his head. He feels that he understands the reason why Leslie doesn't want to let Patty know of their relationship yet, which is because she's probably not yet used to the changes. But he feels that shouldn't be enough to keep it a secret.
"I will give her a little some time to get used to everything," he muttered, as he continued walking downstairs.
When he reached the dining area, he saw Patty already setting down a few light dishes on the table — a bowl of creamy chicken soup, a plate of golden-brown toasted sandwiches, a small side of crispy fries, and a large pitcher of cold, fresh orange juice.
It was simple, but the sight alone made James' stomach growl.
"Come sit, sweetheart," Patty said warmly, smiling at him.
