Chapter 2 - Chapter 2. Edric Everhart

"Serenia, my love! I got message that you-!" A man steps into the room, but after saying a few words, he stops at the sight of me and starts looking at me with eyes filled with warmth.

He looks very tired, as if just ran a marathon.

A voice breaks the silence in the air.

'What's the matter, Edric? Are you just going to stand there? Don't you want to hold our son?'"

It's my mother's voice, and she is calling me 'our son.' So...is he my father?

I took a good glance at him. He looks tall, with a fine physique—neither overly muscular nor too skinny. His dark hair complements the immense aura he carries. Yet, despite that overwhelming presence, I can sense a softness in him, one filled with depp emotions. And right now, those emotions radiate pure joy and happiness.

"Serenia... h-he is our son. My blood...my own flesh and blood," he says, his voice trembling, on the verge of tears.

It's clear that he is overwhelmed with happiness, unable to fully express just how much this moment means to him.

As the man remains frozen in place, still trembling, she slowly rises from the bed, cardling me in her arms as she steps towards him.

Closing the distance, she gently hands me over,"Take him, Eddy. He's waiting for his father."

With shaky hands, the man carefully takes me from her and holds me close to his chest.

The emotions he had been holding back came forth in the form of tears— one of them falls onto my cheek. In that moment, it felt like I was looking at a true father—someone who would do anything for his child.

"So, how does it feel, Eddy?" She asks.

"It feels like my family is complete now....After waiting so many years, it's finally real."

"I..I just want this moment to stay exactly as it is. Serenia, thank you... Thank you for coming into my life and giving me this moment of pure joy."

"Eddy, I love you, and I'm so gratefull that I found you," Mother says with a smile.

"And I love you just as much, Serenia," He replies.

Man, they're littrely making me emotional. And now, even worse — awkward— as I watch them kiss.

"Hello! Just get a room."

Breaking apart, the man looks at her with a smile that trembles on his lips, but something flickers in his eyes—something deeper. A silence stretches between them, not awkward, but heavy with emotion. His gaze lowers for just a moment, and a shadow of guilt crosses his face.

He exhales shakily, then speaks, his voice softer than before.

"I'm sorry, Serenia. I couldn't be here when he was born. I...I'm really sorry. I promised to be a husband who would never disappoint you, and yet... I wasn't here. I let you down."

"What are you saying, Eddy? you never disappointed me. It was just unfortunate that it happened earlier than expected.

But still, you crossed a journey that should've taken weeks... yet you made it in such a short time. Honestly, I thought you wouldn't be here for weeks. But I know the moment you received the message, you must've dropped everything and rushed back to us. Your eye tells me that you traveled through the night just to make it in time. That's not something just anyone would do, Eddy... and that's exactly what makes you....you."

"You never let me down. You're more than I could have ever hoped for. In fact, after seeing everything you did just to be here... I'm even happier. Knowing how hard you worked, how much you pushed yourself—it's more than I could've asked for."

"Waiting those five days was nothing compared to everything you went through just to be here."

"You're the perfect husband any woman could ever wish for," she said, pulling him into a warm, heartfelt hug.

Woo, they're made for each other! I couldn't help but think.

Wait a second... something just clicked in my mind.

Wait… five days?

What are they even talking about?

I literally just opened my eyes a moment ago, right after that incident.Has it really been five whole days since then?

That can't be right... can it?

Hello? Can anyone explain this to me? Which, of course, no one can—because I'm stuck in the body of a baby. And babies can't talk. To get answers, you need to ask questions, and how am I supposed to do that? Man, I hate babies—they're the lamest. Argh....Guess I'll have to wait before I get any answers.

Oh man… there's really nothing I can do except lie here and stare back at them!

After what felt like an eternity wrapped in each other's arms, they finally parted—just slightly—still holding onto that unspoken connection. Then, together, they turned their eyes toward me, their smiles full of love and warmth, all directed at me.

They're just staring at me… completely unaware of the flood of questions building up inside. I want to ask so much—but I can't even move my lips.

But yet, despite all that frustration, I kind of don't mind. The way they're looking at me—with those warm, loving eyes—it's oddly comforting. I can feel it, the love, the joy… it's calming. Maybe, just for now, I should stop worrying and simply let myself enjoy this moment.

"Serenia, look at him—he's staring at me. Ooo, his face looks so adorable… like an angel." The man says.

"Yes, he does. So adorable you can't stop looking at him. And I bet he'll grow up to be as handsome as you, Eddy." she says.

"Wait a minute... I just noticed his hair. It's… half and half?" The said in sprised.

"What, you just noticed now, Eddy?"

"Yeah, I was so focused on his cute little face, I kinda missed it."

"Woo, this is great—he has both our elements! half black and half white hair. But I think he has more of my element."

"Hey now, you're wrong. Look closely—he definitely has my elements more."

Oh, so I have half black and half white hair, huh? Kinda unique.

"No, Serenia, you're wrong. Look again—the black side is definitely more dominant."

"Okay, Eddy, don't start. You're not even looking closely. You just want to one-up me—but that's not going to happen."

"Alright, alright… let's call it a draw. He has both our elements—half and half. Maybe it's a sign that in this matter, neither of us wins."

"Hahaha, yes—I can settle for that." She said with a laugh.

"He looks so cute... Serenia, thank you again—for this moment of joy you gave me. I love you more than anything."

"And, Eddy, I love you more than anyone."

Man… this feels like a dream.

Their smiles, their love for each other, and the affection they show me… it all feels like the dream I always wished for.

(Author's Note: In private, Serenia refers Edric with nickname "Eddy" as a sign of their deep bond and affection.)
