Chapter 5 - Chapter 5. One Month

It's been a month since what you could call my rebirth into this new family.

Right now, I'm lying in my cradle. It's made entirely of wood—smooth, polished, and carved with patterns which I couldn't quite make out. It looks nothing like the cradle I knew back home, which were mostly metal or plastic. But this one has gold-lined finshes that looks luxurious.

And that's not all—I've seen more gold trim in this room and around the house than I ever did in my entire life.

Speaking of house — it is massive, like a manor, with a luxurious wooden finish. Of course, I can't even crawl yet, but my mother occasionally carries me around.

No matter which direction she turns, a whole new hallway appears, lined with countless rooms. And every few steps, a maid or butler bows and greets us as we pass.

She takes me through the grand kitchen, where she gently gives orders to the maids preparing meals. Then to the garden, stretching endlessly under the sun. And sometimes, to the dining hall, where a long table sits covered in elegant decorations and every kind of fancy food you can imagine.

Just seeing all that fancy food makes my mouth water—but I don't get to eat it. When a maid asked why she bring me along, my mother simpled and said she just wants to be around me—and that melted my heart.

And sometimes, to father office, where I see him mostly working with papers.

But whenever I'm brought to him, he stops all his work just to play with me. Well, I may be a baby on the outside, but inside I'm still me. I've promised myself—I'll do anything to make him love me. So sometimes, I put on the cutest face I can manage… and it always gets a massive reaction from him. A warm smile, a soft laugh, or even a kiss on my tiny forehead. Moments like these... they make everything feel worth it.

They're both more loving than I ever could've expected. And eveyday I started to grow a little attached to them.

One more thing—I noticed that I always see my parents in noble-looking clothes, fancier than anything I've ever known.

And after living here for a month and strolling with mother, I've started to get a rough idea about my new family. They're not just ordinary people—they are rich.

Actually 'rich' might not even be the right word. it's more like...I've been reborn into a noble family, not just one that's wealthy.

The way they dress, the massive manor with gold trim, the garden that stretches far, and the maids and butlers bowing whenever we pass—it all feels unreal. The food is fancy, the rooms are grand, and my parents have certain noble aura. But what truly confirmed it was when mother took me to the garden, and I overheard father giving orders to some guards about tax collection.

That's not something just any rich person can do—only someone with real authority. It all makes sense that they're not just wealthy... they're important nobles in this world.

...

Apart from Mother and Father and their nobility, I started learning about the people around me —One of the first was Father's personal maid, Elise..."

She is father's personal maid, Elise. Whenever mother's away, she's the one who takes care of me. She's around twenty-six or so—technically younger than me if you count my past life. With her soft honey-blonde hair and matching eyes.

she loves to cuddle me and tell bedtime stories—ones filled with magic that sound all too real in this world the way she tells them.

Then, there are those I haven't met yet, but already know are part of my family—like my second mother Anneliese, my brother who is older than me, and my grandfather.

I heard about my second mother from maids. When maids suddenly became more talkative than usual once word got out—my second mother would be arriving soon.

And the words came to me, when neither Mother nor Elise was around, two or three maids were stationed to look after me. That's when I heard them whispering about her.

"Oh no… Lady Anneliese is coming back," one maid said, a look of horror on her face.

The other maid, who must've been new, tilted her head. "Lady Anneliese?

"You're new, right? She's Lord Edric's second wife and she has a son, and he's older than Lady Serenia's baby."

"How, I thought that Lady Serenia is first wife."

"Right. But here's the thing—Lady Serenia is Lord Edric's first wife. She struggled with childbirth for years and couldn't conceive.

Then, not long after Lady Anneliese gave birth to his son, Lady Serenia finally conceived."

"So… the second wife gave birth to the first son, and the first wife gave birth to the second son?"

"Exactly. And listen—one more thing. Lady Anneliese is strict with the maids. Like, really strict. You'll want to be extra careful when you're serving her."

After hearing all that, I couldn't help but feel a little uneasy. Where I came from, having two wives wasn't exactly normal—it often led to tension and broken families, like what happened in my previous life. But then again, considering how noble and wealthy this family is, I guess it might be common in this world.

Still, I just hope it doesn't bring any trouble to this family. More than anything... I just hope my second mother will love me like a real mother too.

As I was lost in thought, the door creaked open, and a pair of familiar voices filtered through—it was my mother and father, talking to each other. Slowly, their footsteps came closer and closer until finally, my mother appeared above my cradle.

"My sweet little baby, looks like you're awake. Sorry it took me a while to finish my dinner," my mother said with a warm smile.

"So, my little boy is awake, huh? He must be hungry. Good—he needs to eat more so he can grow big and strong," my father said, planting a kiss on my forehead.

"Well, that's not a problem. I'm here for that,"my mother said, gently lifting me into her arms. Once I was in position, I began to drink..

To be honest, I am hungry. I've actually gotten used to drinking breastmilk now. It's not bad—even though I used to hate milk in my past life. Still, I miss the variety of food—meat, some veggies, and especially rice.

I once tried to grab a piece of meat when my mother took me to the dining hall during dinner… but they stopped me before I could get a piece.

"Hey Eddy, we should go to watch the stars. I think our baby would love it," my mother said to my father.

"Well, that's not a bad idea. Watching stars with your family—sounds peaceful," my father replied.

Ha...thats not a bad idea. Sure, they might be rich and noble, but there's no TV, no phones, no manga here to pass the time. Watching the stars was something I always dreamed of doing with my family in my past life—but it never happened. Maybe… this is my chance.

Let me put on my cutest happy face to show how much I agree with their idea.

And immediately, I stopped drinking and made the most adorable, excited expression I could manage, earning an instant reaction from both of them.

"Ooooh, look Serenia! I think he really likes the idea of watching stars—he looks so happy and excited," my father said with a wide smile.

"Yes, I agree with you, Eddy. He looks thrilled with the idea. My sweet little baby… if you keep looking this adorable, you're going to kill your mother," she said, holding me close with one hand and resting her cheek against mine.

…Well, maybe I overdid it.

"Okay, looks like he's full now and excited to go. We should get going, Eddy," she said.

"After you, my love," my father replied with a noble bow.

With a chuckle, my mother said, "Both father and son are really going to kill me with their charm."

"Haha… not kill, but to make our lady fall in love with us even more, we will do things like this often. Right, little guy?" he said with a laugh.

I just giggled softly. I wasn't acting this time—I really was happy.

"Okay, let's go, Eddy."

"As you command, my Lady."
