Chapter 13 - Chapter 13: Disgustingly Good

"Hello, teacher."

Teacher Li crouched down to look Jingxi in the eye.

"Hello, little Jingxi."

His gaze remained fixed on Jingxi.

Couldn't help but marvel, this little guy is so adorable.

Jingxi just stood there silently, allowing the teacher to look at him.

As it went on for a while, being stared at like that became a bit uncomfortable... he pursed his lips in dissatisfaction.

"Teacher, if you keep staring like this, Jingxi will get shy."

The child's innocent words made a few parents around laugh.

The corners of Ye Xinluo's mouth couldn't help but turn up too.

This guy...

Teacher Li snapped back to reality and awkwardly smiled.

"Little Jingxi is too cute, I couldn't help but look a bit more."

"Teacher, please take care of Jingxi, sorry for the trouble."

Seeing the teacher's awkward situation, Ye Xinluo spoke up to help her out.

Teacher Li gave a knowing smile and nodded, feeling grateful for Ye Xinluo's help and her goodwill increased significantly.

"Jingxi, be good at school, Mommy will pick you up after school, okay?"

Ye Xinluo bent down, ruffling the little guy's fluffy hair.

"Okay."

Jingxi obediently nodded, unlike other kids who were crying and causing a fuss.

"Tingting, come here."

Teacher Li called out to a little girl not far away. The girl looked at the teacher, then at Jingxi, blushing instantly.

But she still walked towards the teacher, hiding behind her, staring unblinkingly at Jingxi.

What a handsome little brother.

Ye Xinluo couldn't help but be amused. Seeing that the girl was about Jingxi's age, such a young child could blush too.

She felt a bit helpless.

Her son's charm is too much...

"Tingting, why don't you take little Jingxi to play?"

"Okay."

The girl named Tingting walked up to Jingxi, taking the little guy's hand.

"Little brother, shall we go play?"

Jingxi didn't resist, letting her pull him into the classroom.

Ye Xinluo watched the two little ones enter the classroom, finally feeling relieved.

She had been worried the little guy wouldn't adjust.

Looks like she worried too much.

"Teacher, please take care of our Jingxi."

"Okay, rest assured."

After chatting with the teacher for a couple of sentences, Ye Xinluo finally turned to leave.

Jingxi turned his head and saw that his mommy had already left, so he decided not to pretend anymore, shaking off the little hand holding his.

Tingting was obviously startled by the little guy's sudden action, her eyes turning red.

"Little brother, what's wrong?"

"Nothing."

Jingxi said, sitting alone in an empty seat.

He took out the pen Ye Xinluo had prepared for him from his backpack, his expression gloomy and silent.

He looked like he didn't want to be bothered.

Tingting, not expecting him to act like that suddenly, was stunned for a while before she regained her composure and sat in the seat in front of Jingxi.

"Little brother, what's wrong?"

"Little brother, let's go play a game."

"Little brother, you're so handsome!"

"Little brother, your eyelashes are so long!"

Jingxi felt like a mosquito was buzzing around his ear.

Buzzing, so annoying.

What eyelash, those are eyelashes. Do you even know common sense?

Finally, unable to bear it any longer, he laid his head on the desk and went to sleep.

"Little brother, shall we go play on the slide?"

"Little brother, let's play house?"

"Little brother, pay attention to me..."

I don't want to play with you.

Jingxi snorted in his heart.

Girls are just troublesome, always just want to play house, so childish.

When I find a wife in the future, I don't want someone so childish.

Not only childish, but also stupid, not even knowing what eyelashes are.

I don't want to play with little kids.

I hate kids the most.

So annoying.

Evidently, the little bun forgot that he was still a three-year-old child...

Seeing Jingxi continuously ignore her, the girl pouted and left.

He looked up at the little girl who had walked away.

Ah, finally gone...

Ye Xinluo left the kindergarten and on her way home received a call from an unknown number.

She glanced at the caller ID, frowning.

This was the number she used in America and hadn't had time to get a new one after returning.

Why would a stranger call her?

She swiped the screen to answer.

"Hello."

"Hello, is this Miss Ye?"

A woman's voice came from the other end of the line.

"May I ask who you are?"

Ye Xinluo confirmed that she didn't know this person.

"I'm from Beichen Group's HR department. Did Miss Ye submit a resume to our company a few days ago?"

Ye Xinluo then realized that she had indeed submitted a resume to Beichen Group that evening.

Did they decide to hire her?

"Yes."

"Here's the situation, Miss Ye. After consideration, our company believes you are a good fit for the position."

"You mean I can start working at your company?"

Ye Xinluo couldn't believe it. She had applied just to try her luck, but she didn't expect to actually get accepted.

"Yes, please come to the company to report at 9 AM tomorrow. Someone will speak to you about the specific details of the job then."

"Sure, thank you."

Ye Xinluo thanked the caller and asked what she needed to prepare for onboarding, then hung up.

She even made a detour to the phone carrier to get a new phone number.

Sitting in the taxi, she inserted the new phone card into the phone and rebooted it.

She imported her contacts into the new number and opened her contact list to send a text to Gong Shaoyu with her new number.

"This is my new number, call this from now on."

After ten minutes, there was no reply.

He might be busy.

She exited messages and opened WeChat.

There was an unread message from Lan Shan approving her friend request.

She had added Lan Shan on WeChat the previous night, probably after 11 PM.

The girl must have been asleep, approving the friend request only this morning.

She accessed the settings page to change the linked phone number.

She replaced the old number with the newly acquired one.

After making these changes, she returned to the chat interface and opened Lan Shan's WeChat.

Twenty minutes earlier, Lan Shan had sent her a message.

[Shanshan]: "What are you up to?"

She typed a few words on the keyboard, replying to her message.

[Luo]: "I just dropped Jingxi off at kindergarten."

She thought Lan Shan might be busy and unable to reply soon, but shortly after hitting send, Lan Shan responded.

[Shanshan]: "Are you outside right now?"

[Luo]: "Yes, I just changed my phone number to 187××××××××. Use this number from now on."

[Shanshan]: "Got it. By the way, how is your job search going?"

[Luo]: "Reporting to Beichen Group tomorrow."

[Shanshan]: "Really? Ah..."

Ye Xinluo could almost imagine Lan Shan's exaggerated reaction through the screen.

After a few minutes, Lan Shan sent another message.

[Shanshan]: "I just jumped up in excitement, and my colleagues got scared. I have to get back to work, let me know when you're in the office tomorrow. Signing off now, bye."
