When people tell you they will teach you magic, you would imagine learning how to manipulate the laws of the universe to bend reality, you don't expect that you will study old Arabic, Latin, and Greek.

Aside from reading books all day, the Ancient One decided that I also needed to learn how to fight with my body, magic was useful but not everything was weak to it.
And so, aside from destroying my mind with boring language lectures, they also began destroying my body, hand-to-hand combat, Bo staff, sabres, chains, and a jian, day after day, this process continued.
In the blink of an eye, a week had passed, my knowledge of dead languages had reached a sufficient standard to start studying old tomes, and my body going through a transformation thanks to the constant physical and mental strain, I felt powerful before, and now I felt godlike.

The progress of my skills and my stats made me feel like a brand new being, my muscles were finally starting to become visible, my flexibility had improved marginally, my thinking speed made a second last a lot longer than it did ever before, my perception of the world made it look more colourful.
My daily meditation also helped with the progress of mind fortress, my control over my emotions while not under the effect of my powers developed quite nicely.
When I finally closed the nth book about how their dead language would become the most developed language in the world, the Ancient One called my name from behind me.
" Adrian, I feel you might be ready."
" Ready? For what?"

" Where do I have to go?" I said quite quickly, the mention of the possible death of kids made me immediately go into serious mode.
" Italy, Milan, here is a picture of an area near the building where the group is."
I snatched the picture, catching every detail so I didn't teleport wrongly, when I felt like I was ready, I stored the picture and looked at The Ancient One.
" Can I have a Jian and some chains?"
He smiled, making the items appear in front of me, which I quickly stored, the sword appeared on my side with a scabbard attached to my belt, the chains instead remained inside my inventory.
I snapped my fingers and a portal opened, on the other side, the green forest of the picture could be seen.
" I will be back."
The Ancient One remained silent, his calm facade remaining until I went through the portal, his eyes flashing for a second with worry.
