Yan Xi clenched his teeth as he watched the intense crimson aura surrounding Ling Yue. This was not her power. This was the form of another being, freed from its chains within her.
Bai Xuan quickly began to form a seal. "We can't leave her like this! If this curse takes full control, we won't be able to bring Ling Yue back!"
Mo Ye squinted his eyes. "But first, we need to survive!"
Because at that moment, Ling Yue—or rather, the being inhabiting her body—snapped its fingers.
The chained souls suddenly sprang to life. Their bodies shuddered, and the emptiness in their eyes was replaced by a deadly hunger.
The battle began.
Ling Feng swiftly moved forward, activating his Wind Eye ability to try and confuse the enemies. However, the souls blocked his movements as if they had already anticipated them.
Yan Xi called upon the Flame Seal, slashing through a soul that leaped out of the crimson mist with his sword. But the soul rejoined itself.
"They can't be killed!" Yun Zhi shouted in fury.
Bai Xuan opened his eyes. "Because the dead can't truly die!"
Yan Xi's breath quickened. "Then we'll seal them!"
But suddenly, the air shifted.
Because Ling Yue moved.
She took a step, and everything froze.
Time seemed to flow according to her will. Her crimson eyes locked onto Yan Xi, and she raised her hand—a blood seal appeared.
Yan Xi couldn't move.
"This…" he whispered.
And then, everything went dark.
