Chapter 1 - Leaving by

Where am I?

Looking around, wondering how she got here, remembering nothing from where she was before and vaguely recalling who she is.

But memories decided to not help her, like something was blocking them. That's a first, she thought while trying to understand her surroundings. But there was nothing that could help.

Nothing was comprehensible, this place could be seen as both anything yet nothing at the same time. A painting, a beautiful one, a seemingly infinite space with some small dots of light casually tinted in a canvas full of black with some tonalities of blue. Is it casual? Or does it have a more complex scheme?

While focusing on the vast area around her, it seemed like she started forgetting what she knew, and her doubts became more and more…

Before asking a new question to herself, she took a small second to think, memories were leaving her… Is this a sort of ability? Am I in danger?

A sudden attack could be one of the possible answers, but it wasn't the case, no… it has no sense, no one is attacking me so what is this?

But, while questioning herself she started to lose more memories, until she forgot who she was in the first place.

Luckily she noticed this and instantly realized the hidden threat.

"Focus," she said to herself, shouting in order to regain her senses. "This is not the moment to be lost in thoughts… I have to do something… but where am I?"

The effect was just too strong to rebel, but she didn't want to give up that easily.

Moving her hand with the intention of slapping herself, trying to regain some of her memories, but that never hit… What??? Why??? How???

She tried to do that again, but the result didn't change, she couldn't feel the warmth of her hand touching her cheek, neither the pain was a thing.

Not understanding what was happening she continued to try, but it never hit… she tried to use her other hand but it was the same.

Continuing to move all of her limbs, but none of them was responding to the command. Soon she discovered why…

She didn't have them. In this open field there was only her consciousness, that was slowly fading, and her eyes.

Understanding that her awareness was growing dimmer, she moved her eyes in search of something that could entertain her and make her aware.

Slowly scanning around, trying to search for something different all of the time, spinning around herself many times… What is this? What am I even searching for... But was this really the time to consider her actions?

Continuing to spin around, not caring if it was useful or not, she hoped to find something.

And finally she saw something that didn't belong there.

It was floating across this endless place, a white sphere not far from her… How haven't I seen this before? It is too close for me to notice now, what if… what if it appeared now?

'Is it coming closer?! No, I'm the one moving? How?' she thought .Before she couldn't move whatsoever except for her sight, but now it seems like the sphere was attracting her.

'Wait…Something is inside? Or better someone…'

Someone was inside this sphere, but it was yet too distant to see any important detail. However she was slowly approaching the sphere, it would take some seconds to see more.

And finally she was able to see who's inside, a woman was sitting inside this sphere. Everything felt strange the moment she saw this woman,

Something is wrong, this woman is not normal. Her mind made her come to this conclusion, even though she doesn't know why.

The woman was seemingly unconscious yet continued moving along the sphere. Her eyes were closed and some parts covered by her long white hair, but a hint of sadness could be seen in her lips. Nothing more could be said by the woman except that she was beautiful.

Then she stopped thinking, realizing that concentrating on this woman was taking her consciousness away. Even though she was without a body she unconsciously shook her head.

But the woman inside the sphere mimicked her nonexistent movement.

Then the woman slowly opened her eyes, watching straight to her, red eyes weren't common at all, yet she didn't seem surprised by them, like she was used to seeing them.

Then she went back to thinking that those red eyes were strange, searching back in her memories she remembered knowing someone with those unusual red eyes.

Yes, someone with red eyes she knew… It was… herself.

Taking another look at those eyes, many emotions were visible yet sorrow was dominating them all.

The space seemed to crack all over the place, completely destroying the reality she watched until now, and suddenly she woke up from this weird dream.

Instantly she watched her surroundings and nothing was out of place, seeing the room she was used to calmed her down… What a weird dream it was.

Getting out of bed she started her daily routine as nothing strange happened, it was all a dream after all. And mostly this was an important day for her.

It was the day where she would finally start her journey on this corrupted world.

After some time she was ready to leave her home for the last time, but before she decided to stop in a room.

It wasn't a large room and it was mostly empty, except for an altar.

After arriving there she knelt down, giving a last prayer to a forgotten God, forgotten from everyone except for her.

Although religions weren't a thing anymore after the advent of the apocalypse, many stopped believing and after many generations the memories of Gods that many believed in stopped existing. Yet she continued to believe.

And she prayed, a prayer that she learned from the one who took care of her as a father figure.

Coming to an end she left the room, and was finally ready to leave the home she lived all of her life. A nostalgic smile was imprinted in her mouth, reviving all of the happy moments she could remember.

But it was finally time to start her journey in this world, so she went on her way.
