The first-year competition lasted only a week, and participation was not mandatory. If you want to participate, you can; if you don't, you can just watch from the spectators' stand.
A few days ago, an official message arrived from the academy to his email account regarding the competition. Today would be the start date of the registration, and within the next five days, any first-year student who wants to compete can register.
If you miss the deadline, though, that means you would be a spectator, not a competitor.
Though Aaron was given an S Rank contract and a lot of resources for the entire first year, those are not sufficient with his growing power. To make sure that he would reach the absolute best, he needs more resources.
