Chapter 57 - One Man Army

In a dimly lit yet opulent and spacious room, a sophisticated man sits on a large luxurious cushioned chair with wine swirling in his hand. Watching the sunrise through an intricately designed window.

Another well mannered man walked into the room, his movements opening the door and stepping forward was so polite and light that it was inaudible.

The man that walked in wore a formal three piece suit with a clipboard in hand.

"Forgive the late update, the source of this information was Living Cemetery, their innate uncooperative nature was the cause of this delay.

3 days ago, at around 3:22am, a man donning the anonymity cloak, sliced the throat of a member of the Living Cemetery with a pair of scissors according to witnesses.

The next day, members of Dawn Breakers and the hooded man seems to be cooperating, they escaped Living Cemetery's grasp by a well orchestrated deceptive tactic.

In the apartment they were hiding previously, room 061 of block #111, another dead body, appeared to be killed by a sharp object is found." The man in the black suit reports.

The man in the chair receiving this information, leaned back on his chair as if to think, then took a sip of wine before concluding,

"Jasper Harrington, Eric Stryker, back in action, but only one of them, and with Dawn Breakers...interesting. Noted, Hilton, thank you for the update."

"It's a pleasure, sir."

‎ ‎ ‎

"What?" Eleanor says half awake half asleep as I poke at her shoulders.

"Time to wake up, after this final match of the tournament, we're making a move."

"Oh."

It's now the final day of the tournament, the final match between Guillotine and Myth will commence at 8am, it's 7:14 already, Eleanor and Ken almost slept for 16 hours straight. Good for them, it's definitely not easy being on the run for this long.

After waking Ken, she asks, "What's the plan?"

"We borrow him." I pointed at silencer who's holographic image was displayed at the centre of the stadium.

"What?"

"Just leave it to me, this plan doesn't really require help from any of you guys."

"Alright." She said then did some morning stretches.

"You blushed." My uncle teases.

"I wasn't even looking."

"You definitely were."

Okay, maybe, she's really stunning, no single straight man will blame me if they had seen Eleanor.

The finals were far more interesting than every other match yet, because it's actually a close matchup.

There is actually a chance Guillotine gets defeated, which makes it a lot more exciting than all previous matches.

I watched as bullet fights against two Myth member, one Fighter and one Tank with only his double bladed sword, swung in ridiculous speed and controlled in tremendous precision.

The Fighter on Myth was named Vampiress while the Tank was named Werewolf. Cheesy naming by Myth not gonna lie, but their strength is definitely undeniable.

Vampiress wields short blades shaped like a fang that glows violet on both her hands, Werewolf has claws coming out of his hands with his forearms covered in thick blue fur.

Despite being outnumbered, bullet holds his own for quite a while using his larger and superior weapon, but eventually.

"Argh!" He was shot, an arrow through the chest, it was Myth's Marksman, Cupid, flying with his elegant white wings and wielding a meticulously designed golden bow.

Cupid is the 13th best player in the game and the second frag of Myth. His arrow that pierced through bullet's chest dealing 20 hp worth of damage proved his power.

He pulls the bow again, but the second arrow towards bullet was countered by Guillotine's Tank, magazine who rushed to the scene with her abilities that allows her to break the arrow in half with a snap of her fingers.

"What was that?" I asked my uncle.

"Magazine's Tank ability is one of the best in the game, it disables any attacking projectiles by just snapping her fingers. That glove she's wearing is her weapon, snapping her fingers with it triggers the ability. It's really strong."

Literally OP, unbalanced, deems the Marksman useless instantly.

"Stronger than yours?" I asked seeing as he's a higher ranked Tank.

"Hell no."

"Tsk." Cupid rants in frustration and all three Myth member took a few steps back upon seeing the arrival of not just magazine, but hammer and trigger too.

Hammer, the Support of Guillotine, raises his hand and clenches his fist, forming an eerie red aura around every Guillotine member present within the ability's range.

"And what's that?" I asked again.

"Another broken ability in Guillotine, boosts attack damage of players within a 20 metre radius by 33%."

Yeah, no wonder Guillotine wins every month.

Trigger pulls out one revolver on each hand, then fired both at the same time towards Cupid. The boost from hammer had a visual effect that made the bullets fired burning in red flames.

Cupid was shot, losing 20 hp despite only one bullet landing. That's the boosted effect alright, there's no way trigger's attack can be on par with Cupid's in terms of damage otherwise.

Trigger continues firing away at Myth's three members, forcing them to remain passive hiding away behind rubbles, until someone else arrived flanking Guillotine from behind.

Suddenly, the Guillotine members were enveloped in a ball of flames, as if being caged by the surface of the sun.

And like the surface of the sun, the flame cage has hot gas spicules ejecting from the surface and onto the caged players rapidly, dealing damage slowly and steadily over time, each spicule that lands dealing 3 hp worth of damage.

Magazine's finger snaps were ineffective, the game doesn't consider this attack a projectile, so the whole Guillotine team suffers rapid damage.

"That's...insane." I commented

"That's a Mage to you, a top 15 one at that." Eleanor said, she's now fully awake and energised by the excitement of the match.

It was Phoenix's ability, the leader of Myth and the 12th strongest player in game who's also an overpowered Mage class.

Her alone trapped all four members of Guillotine that was active in battle in a ball of flames, dealing rapid damage that will eliminate all of them in minutes.

She seems to be struggling though, her extended arm was trembling as she keeps the spell casted, intact, and undamaged by trigger and bullet on the inside who were continuously attacking the fire cage to get rid of it.

Her eyes were glowing bright orange. No pupil, no iris, no sclera to be seen, the entire eye was just glowing orange. This seems to be a visual effect for all Mage class players when they cast their spell or their weapon.

Speaking of which, the other guy in this match with glowing eyes has just entered the battlefield to crash the party.

Silencer's here with one dramatic entrance. He was propelled upwards by his own attacks into the air, so high up that he leaped over a nearly 40 story tall skyscraper before falling down into the battlefield.

While in mid air, he summoned lightning bolts with both his hand in different direction, one towards Phoenix and the other towards Cupid, Werewolf and Vampiress.

Oh god...every single one of them lost 40 hp from that one lightning strike.

Phoenix was struck and launched out of her concentration, causing her spell to be lifted and the Guillotine members liberated.

Silencer lands with lightning bolts bursting out in all direction upon contact with the ground, cracking the asphalt road that he landed on.

That menacing eye that glows bright blue can be seen again, the other eye still under his hair, but the death stare from that singular eye was enough to send shiver down my spine. Gonna be negotiating with that guy later, I shouldn't probably pray for my survival right now before I do.

The Support of Myth was next to Phoenix but wasn't struck with lightning bolts as she wasn't posing any threats, she's a healer that rushed to Phoenix when Phoenix was struck.

She swings her magic staff in mid air, drawing a pattern on top of Phoenix which slowly falls down on her healing 15 hp.

Silencer clearly didn't like that, he sent out two lightning bolts again, one on Phoenix and the other on the healer, named Angel.

Oof, another 40 hp lost by Phoenix, she is now sitting on a measly 35 hp, one more attack from silencer and she's gone.

The other three members of Myth after getting struck by silencer was also getting overwhelmed by bullet and trigger.

Phoenix pukes out blood, lets out a disappointed sigh before yelling,

"RESIGN!!!"

That's a feature in the tournament, to prevent too many casualties every month. A team can resign the match when the leader reaches under 50 hp, and only the leader can trigger the resignation.

By yelling 'resign' out loud, the game ends with Guillotine's victory, live broadcasting of the match stops and it's replaced with the holographic announcers as well as holographic figures of the five members of Guillotine's tournament team.

"Victoryyyyyyy!" All the holographic hosts declares in unison enthusiastically, and the stadium followed.

"LET'S GOOOOOO!!!"

"LET'S GOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!"

The stadium erupted in celebration, with only a few frustrated and disappointed at the result.

At the same time, a door appeared at the centre of the stadium with red carpet laying itself out from the door to the elevator lobby.

That's where they'll exit I presume, that's where I should be.

"YOOOOO!!"

"WOOOOOOOOO!!"

Ah it's not gonna be a simple task, every player now can move freely towards the centre of the stadium, the red carpet will be absolutely crowded...

Sighs

It's gonna be a pain squeezing through this crowd...

The stadium as if detecting the imminent harassment of the competitors that's about to exit, rose barriers from the ground around the red carpet.

Door opens up, it's not them, it's Myth.
