Chapter 44 - Chapter 44: First Kill of 100 Monsters

Upon opening the first reward chest, Lin Fan found five sausages, three iron ingots, five pieces of coal, one name tag, and an enchanted book with Silk Touch.

His eyes instantly lit up—not because the rewards were particularly amazing, but because they were much better than those found in dungeons.

Although the chest didn't contain the specific items he was hoping for, Lin Fan was certain that if he kept exploring the Nine-Story Monster Tower, he would eventually find what he wanted.

Maybe he could even get some diamonds for free.

After all, he was only in the first room of the first floor.

The further he progressed, the better the rewards would be.

After storing everything in his backpack, Lin Fan proceeded to the second room.

It was similar to the first, except that the monster spawners inside were spider spawners instead of zombie spawners.

If Lin Fan had to fight an entire room of monsters alone, it would be nearly impossible.

But with Lilian by his side, it was a piece of cake.

The second room's rewards were about the same as the first, so Lin Fan took everything and moved on to the third room.

This time, things were different.

The monsters inside this room were Creepers.

This world was different from the Minecraft world.

In Minecraft, Creepers were slightly rarer than zombies, but still fairly common.

However, in this world, Creepers were incredibly rare.

Encountering a wild Creeper in the wilderness was almost impossible.

As a result, no one had ever gotten the first kill on a Creeper before.

Moreover, Creepers were more difficult to deal with compared to other monsters.

The reason? They could self-destruct.

At point-blank range, without armor, a Creeper's explosion could instantly kill a fully healthy player.

To defeat a Creeper, one had to master hit-and-run tactics—hit once, retreat a step, hit again, retreat again—repeating this until the Creeper was defeated.

If the Creeper only had 20 HP, it wouldn't be too hard to manage.

But these Creepers had 40 HP, which made things much more difficult for Lin Fan.

In this world, all monsters had double the HP—and Creepers were no exception.

Fighting one Creeper was manageable.

Fighting 10 to 20 Creepers at once—while ensuring none of them exploded—was a nightmare.

But now that the door was already open, running away was no longer an option.

The moment Lin Fan opened the door, all 18 Creepers inside simultaneously turned to face him.

They had four short, stubby legs, large, hollow eyes, and sad-looking mouths, covered in green-gray mottled skin.

As they moved, they rustled like dried leaves, sending shivers down Lin Fan's spine.

The 18 Creepers let out a terrifying "SSSSSS" sound as they crawled toward Lin Fan.

Lilian immediately entered full combat mode.

Gripping her iron sword tightly, she frowned and warned in a cold, calm voice,

"Be careful. Creepers explode."

Just as the Creepers closed in to four blocks away, Lilian charged forward first.

She swung her iron sword at a Creeper's head, landing a clean hit.

The injured Creeper let out a pained hiss and started to detonate, but before it could explode, Lilian swiftly jumped back two blocks, causing it to return to normal.

Seeing that this tactic worked, Lilian continued her relentless assault, holding back all 18 Creepers on her own, preventing them from reaching Lin Fan.

Her speed was incredible—so fast that Lin Fan could barely see her movements.

The iron sword, with a base attack speed of 1.6, was being wielded like a katana, slashing at lightning speed.

Because iron swords had a knockback effect, Lilian effortlessly controlled the battlefield, keeping the Creepers at bay while skillfully dodging their explosions.

Finally, when one Creeper's HP dropped to 4, Lilian suddenly kicked it toward Lin Fan.

"Master! Quick! First kill on a Creeper!" she shouted.

Lin Fan instantly understood her intentions.

He dashed forward, gripping his iron sword tightly, and slashed at the weakened Creeper.

With a final "ARGHH", the Creeper collapsed and died.

[Gold Coins +20]

As the coin notification popped up, the server-wide World Channel also issued an announcement.

[Ding~! Congratulations to Lin Fan for achieving the first Creeper kill! Reward granted!]

The moment the first-kill announcement appeared, Lin Fan's status bar underwent a massive transformation.

His entire body started glowing a fiery red.

On his status interface, a bold line of text appeared:

"Nine Nether Buff."

Nine Nether Buff?

The Nine Nether Buff?

What is this buff?

As the server-wide notification rang out, countless players who had just entered the Nine-Story Monster Tower were completely stunned.

"Wait, didn't you guys just say Lin Fan entered the Nine-Story Monster Tower a few minutes ago?"

"Yeah, he literally went in three minutes ago!"

"And now he's already secured a world first kill? In just three minutes?!"

"I'm inside the Nine-Story Monster Tower right now. The monsters here have armor, okay? They're way tougher than the ones outside. I can't even kill a single one. I feel like crying."

"You're lucky you even got inside. I got blocked by a zombie outside the entrance. I didn't even dare go in!"

"How the hell did Lin Fan do it?!"

"A first kill on a Creeper? What kind of rewards did he get?!"

"Has anyone even seen a Creeper before? What kind of monster is it?"

"Never seen one. They don't spawn in the wild, so they must be exclusive to the Nine-Story Monster Tower."

"Actually, I think I saw one once. It was this ugly green thing with no arms and four legs. Just looking at it gave me the creeps, so I didn't dare attack it."

"Congrats, bro. You just missed out on a first kill."

"This is Lin Fan's fourth world first kill! Is he even giving us a chance?!"

"Creepers, any comments on this tragedy?"

"Creeper: I was just as surprised as you guys."

Just as the players were still heatedly discussing Lin Fan's achievement, another server-wide notification suddenly rang out.

[Congratulations to Lin Fan for achieving the first 100 monster kill on 100 monsters in the Nine-Story Monster Tower! Reward: Access to the second floor.]

[Ding~! Congratulations to Lin Fan for achieving the first 100 monster kill in the Nine-Story Monster Tower! Reward: Access to the second floor.]

Everyone: "???"

"Nani?! What the hell is going on?!"

"Didn't someone just say Lin Fan entered three minutes ago?!"

"100 kills in three minutes?! What is he, a spawn machine? That's literally impossible!"

"Holy crap, I'm at the scene! I swear, it feels like the entire first floor is empty. Can you believe that?!"

"I thought the Nine-Story Monster Tower was supposed to be insanely dangerous! Why does it look like Lin Fan is just taking a casual stroll?!"

"Bro, I'm losing my mind! 20 gold per monster, that means Lin Fan just made 2,000 gold in three minutes?!"

"Stop talking! Let's hurry inside before there's nothing left!"

"Lin Fan, have mercy! Leave some monsters for us!"

"WTF! Lin Fan, you bastard! Hold up, I'm coming over right now!"
