Keelion peered at him. He was as still as a statue.
"Why did she leave me?" he questioned.
Augustus responded, "It's not mine to tell."
The man rapidly began to nod his head. The hurt in his eyes was more than clear, and the worst part of it all was that he didn't even have the strength anymore—not to harm Augustus in any way.
What would be the point?
Alexis hurt him, but he loved her. He would rather swallow his pain than let her get hurt and Augustus was the one person who could keep her safe—who would keep her safe, wherever she was, away from him.
So, with a nod, he opened the box and took out the diamond ring, handing it over to him.
Augustus blinked at him. "Why?"
"It's hers. I was going to give it to her anyway, so let her have it. Take whatever you need." He turned and proceeded to leave through the door. But,
"Keelion." Augustus took a step forward and stopped right after when the man halted. "I'm sorry…" he mumbled, sincerely.
