Ren woke up slowly, awareness creeping into his consciousness like a thief in the night.
He opened his eyes, the only thing above him the blues of the sky as the sun slowly peaked over the horizon. He'd slept sitting with his back against cold stone, his head resting on it as he gazed at the sky.
There was a layer of water on him from where the mist had set. He sat up, his hand coming up to his neck to massage the crick that had formed in it.
He looked around him, at all the headstones that had been replaced in the past few months. The cemetery hadn't been hit too hard by the bomb that had taken out the castle but a lot of the headstones had been hit hard.
He slowly rose to his feet, walking around to stand at the front of the two headstones at the edge of the cemetery. He stood for a moment, gazing at the two of them.
The first read, "Here lies Abram Ross. He died on his feet, as only the strongest do."
