The Sage Art: Bath of Boiling Oil was incredibly powerful, and mastering it would not be easy. Jiraiya had already prepared himself mentally for the challenge.
For now, with the Second Great Ninja War yet to begin, he had ample time to train in Mount Myōboku. He had started to grasp the fundamentals of this Fire Release sage art and felt confident that a little more time would suffice to fully master it.

Currently, his main body was training with Fukasaku and Shima in mastering the Fire Release: Bath of Boiling Oil. Meanwhile, a shadow clone of his was practicing the Sage Art: Hair Needle Senbon on the side.
When a shadow clone disperses, its accumulated experience transfers back to the main body. So if his clone could master the Hair Needle Senbon, Jiraiya himself would gain that mastery as well.
However, progress was slow with just one shadow clone. The clone's ability to endure and train with Sage Chakra was limited, making the Hair Needle Senbon's advancement frustratingly slow.
Shadow clones could enter Sage Mode, but only for a brief period compared to the main body. The clone would collapse after two minutes, unable to bear the strain of Sage Chakra any longer. This limitation hindered rapid progress in mastering the technique.
"If I could learn the Multi-Shadow Clone Jutsu, I could create more clones to simultaneously train with the Hair Needle Senbon, significantly reducing the time needed to master it," Jiraiya mused.

Nodding, Jiraiya prepared for another attempt. Forming hand seals, he channeled Sage Chakra to produce oil, which he spat out in a massive wave.
Simultaneously, Fukasaku released Fire Release, igniting the oil in an instant. At the same time, Shima unleashed a powerful gust of wind from her mouth.
The oil ignited into an intense blaze, and the added wind fueled the flames, rapidly increasing the temperature. The surrounding landscape turned a fiery orange as the heat became overwhelming.
The water in a nearby pond evaporated visibly, and even the waterfall feeding the pond ceased to flow as its source was turned to steam.
After repeated attempts, Jiraiya and the two toad sages finally managed to achieve a preliminary mastery of the Sage Art: Bath of Boiling Oil.
Even Jiraiya, who was performing the jutsu, felt his skin sting from the intense heat.
As expected of one of the most powerful Fire Release techniques in the history of the Hidden Leaf, the power is truly remarkable,"Jiraiya remarked, satisfied as he surveyed the aftermath.
The pond had nearly dried up, and the ground around it was not only cracked but also vitrified, while molten lava oozed from areas rich in rock.
This was just their initial attempt. With further training, they could refine and enhance the technique. The three of them had yet to achieve perfect synchronization, and if they could fully integrate their abilities, the power of the Bath of Boiling Oil would increase exponentially.
"Jiraiya-boy, did you remember the feeling from earlier?" Fukasaku asked.
Jiraiya nodded. "Yes. I've got it."
"The Bath of Boiling Oil still has a lot of potential. If we can unleash its full power, the water in that pond could evaporate instantly, and the surrounding earth could be baked into molten lava," Shima added.
As her words trailed off, a light rain began to fall. The evaporated water had risen into the clouds, condensed, and returned as raindrops.
"Fuku-chan, since we've already got a handle on the Bath of Boiling Oil, let's find time to train Jiraiya in the Toad Confrontation Chant next," Shima proposed.
The Toad Confrontation Chant was an extremely powerful genjutsu, rivaling even the Mangekyō Sharingan techniques of the Uchiha clan, such as Tsukuyomi.
In the original story, Jiraiya used this genjutsu with the two toad sages against Pain, instantly taking down three of the Six Paths of Pain.
The Toad Confrontation Chant was one of Mount Myōboku's strongest genjutsu techniques. If an enemy was exposed to the chant for long enough, their spirit would be trapped in a genjutsu realm, bound by four enormous toads bearing the image of the Immovable Deity. Once sealed, the enemy would be utterly helpless.
What made this genjutsu truly fearsome was its ability to distort space, making it unavoidable, irresistible, and impossible to reflect or counter. The enemy's body and spirit would both be immobilized.
Unlike typical genjutsu, where victims could retain some cognitive ability to attempt an escape, the Toad Confrontation Chant offered no such opportunity.
However, this technique had a significant drawback. The process of activating the chant exposed the users' location, and a certain amount of time was required to trap the target in the genjutsu space. This made it vulnerable to interruption, necessitating coordination between multiple users for success.
In the original story, Naruto failed to utilize this technique during his battle against Pain because he and the two sages lacked sufficient coordination. As a result, the two sages were defeated by Pain's Shinra Tensei before they could complete the chant.
Jiraiya was deeply intrigued by this technique's power. When Shima handed him the scroll detailing the Toad Confrontation Chant, he eagerly took it and began studying it with great interest.
