Students chanted, some screamed hysterically as Nicki Minaj's super freaky girl filled the air.
" Show me what you got, Blondie." I say.
"Oh yeah?" Nathan nodded, moving his body to the beat he winked at me and I rolled my eyes joining him.
" Ohhhh"
" Damn"
I could hear several people comment, they were already starting to stare.
I smiled, feeling the thrill of the moment and dancing with reckless abandon.
For a split second, Nathan's eyes met mine, an unmistakable flash of desire in his as he danced on.
I swallowed hard and closed my eyes, letting the beat take over,
I felt carefree and alive as I moved my body to the rhythm of the music.
I've missed this.
The crowd around us cheered and whistled some even joining us where we were, an obviously drunk girl bumped into Nathan and I chuckled, he laughed too, quickly regaining his balance, we danced in sync as the music came to an end.
They cheered and I smiled at Nathan whose face was dangerously close mine.
" Not bad." He says
" Not bad?"
" Okay, very impressive but not better than me, obviously." He says and I chuckled, moving away.
" Sure, your majesty."
" You're as good as me though, and as they say every King needs a Queen." He moved closer to me.
My stomach churned, this isn't good.
I was about to speak when,
" Coco! My, you look beautiful." Evan appeared out of nowhere saving my ass again. Nathan whispered a 'fuck' and leaned on the wall.
" You invite me to a party and then disappear? Not cool nerd." I joked.
" I was looking everywhere for you, turns out you were killing it on the dancefloor without me." He says offering me a drink but I shook my head.
" So how's the party." Evan ask I shrugged.
" Have you seen sid and Tyler? They went off with some weird dude when we got here and I haven't seen them." I asked.
" Uh yeah...they are over there by the blue couch, and wow, your girl sid? She wild!" He chuckled.
" What do you mean?" I frowned.
" She been having drink-offs with the other guys. She's broken all the record. Eight bottles within one hour!" He says.
" What? I'm gonna go check on her." I say, taking a quick glance at the wall but Nathan wasn't there anymore.
" Al'it" he says. I turned and squeezed my way through the students, some dancing, some screaming and laughing for no reason, some drunk, some practically dry humping each other and others, just staring creepily with weird smiles playing at their red-ish lips, their eyes were different shades of red and some of them occasionally drank from a plastic cup. It felt like they were staring intently at me. They were in random places around the room.
The feeling of dread from earlier was back,
One smiled at me and I got a glimpse of his teeth, they looked sharp and the canines slightly resemble that of cats.
A chill ran through my body and I quickened my pace, walking to where sid was chugging cup after cup.
" Sidney." I called.
" Coco! That's coco.... my f...friend,the one....I was.... selling.... telling..." She hiccups.
" Time to go, sid " I said, hoping she would listen and stand up.
" N...n...no!" She folded her arms. I sighed.
Looking around for Tyler, I spotted him talking to... Paris.
" Stay here okay... don't go anywhere. I'll be right back." I told Sid who just hiccuped.
After making sure Tyler was going to be fine, I walked back to sid but someone pulled my arm.
" What the fuck!" I snapped turning to look and was met with a chilly gaze.
It was the guy....the one who smiled at me!
" Let go of me, creep." I said, his eyes shone brighter, his lean and frail physique bending towards me.
" Where's the fun in that, beautiful." He spoke. His voice icy, his fingers digging into my skin.
"Don't make me repeat myself, m* therfucker!" I threatened, trying but failing to get my arm out of his grip, he was really strong.
" Feisty! I like me some spice. Maybe I'll take you to my dorm tonight after all." He says. I panicked, I tried to signal for help even though I knew most people were drunk but it seems like no one could even see us.
" Let me go!." I used my left foot to kick him between the legs but he just stood there, unfazed, with a sadistic smile.
I felt pure fear coursing through my veins,
why couldn't anyone else see us? If they did, why can't they help? What was he gonna do to me?!
" Don't be scared, baby. It would be totally painless." He says in a sing song voice.
What TF does that mean.
Suddenly,
" Get your filthy hands of her, fucker!" I heard someone say.
" Ay. I saw her first, man, have some manners."
" How bout I teach you some fuckin manners, Roy." And with that, the boy was yanked off me and thrown across the wall.
" Woah." Students gasped, most turned to see what happened.
I stared in disbelief, awe, and maybe a little bit of fear.
" Are you alright?" He says his eyes scanned my face before moving to my body, his jaw tightens and an unreadable expression graced his handsome features.
" Yes." I say.
He looked at everyone as if to say,
What the fuck are you all looking at?
They averted their gazes and he turned to me.
" What are you doing here, little girl." He says, voice laced with anger.
I was gonna thank him for saving me but no.
" None of your business, Xavier." I snapped, moving away but he held my arm.
His touch seemed to make all my thoughts fly out the window. The sparks I felt were... intoxicating, his grip was firm and gentle but at the same spot where the boy had squeezed.
I winced.
" Hurt?" He asked, I nodded.
He releases his hold, staring at the spot which was now turning red.
" Who invited you here!" He asks, rage swirling in his dark eyes but I knew they weren't directed at me.
" Why do you care?" I snapped.
" Answer the fucking question."
" No. Fuck off."
" You know what? Don't answer. Come on, I'm taking you to your dorm." He grabbed my other hand gently and tugged me away.
" No! You can't tell me what to do!" I argued as he pulled me.
" I want to stay at the party!"
" A party where you almost got killed?! Yeah, not happening." He says.
" What? Killed? Don't be so dramatic, worst case scenario, he takes me to his dorm and have his—" I was suddenly pinned against a wall.
" Enough! Don't." He says, I swallowed hard as I took in his face up close.
Fuck, he is handsome.
He raised his hand and pushed a stray strand of my hair back, making me close my eyes at the tingles I felt.
" Let me take you back, mi Cielo." He says.
I nodded, figuring out he wouldn't rest until he does what he wants.
He let me go and moved a bit.
" Sidney. I have to get Sidney. She's wasted." I told him, pointing to where sid was.
Just then Evan showed up.
" Hey, leaving already?" He asks.
" Why the fuck would you invite her to somewhere like this, Hansen." Xavier seethed angrily.
How did he Evan invited me?
And what TF does he mean by that.
" Chill, Xavier. I had an eye on her. She's fine." He says calmly but the next second Xavier had grabbed his shirt, pulling him aggressively.
" You had a fucking eye on her, hunh? Where was it when that idiot fucker almost killed her?!" He yelled at Evan whose eyes were wide as saucers.
" Let him go, Xavier, what the heck is wrong with you?" I struggled to release Evan, my efforts equivalent to a rat trying to pull two bulls apart.
" Never again, Evan." He growled. Evan's black eyes were now kinda red too.
" I'm sorry. I won't." He says, staring at Xavier.
" Let him go, it's my decision whether to go to a party or not." I say to Xavier, he whipped his head to face me and his expression softened a bit as he releases his hold on Evan.
" I'm so sorry, Evan." I say.
" No, I'm sorry. I didn't know Roy did that and... I'm sorry." He apologized.
How did he.....
" It's fine. It's not your fault. Thanks though, i had a great time." I say.
He flashed that charming smile of his, his eyes were back to normal,
" See you around, nerd." And he walked away, Xavier growled a little, frowning.
" What is wrong with you?" I asked.
" Nerd? Seriously? Since when have you given each other nicknames." He spoke, i spotted Evan taking a struggling sid out of the room.
" Sid—"
" She'll be fine. I told him to take her back." Xavier spoke before I could say anything.
" Okay."
He stared at me for a minute before tugging my arm gently and leading me out of the party.
********
" I can walk perfectly fine without you holding my hand, you know." I say and he released his hold on me making me miss his warmth instantly.
" You broke my rule." He says. And I knew he was talking about the dance.
" It was ridiculous, Xavier. You don't expect me to avoid all boys now because we're fake dating." I snorted, kicking a pebble out of my path as we walked.
" You should, for their own good." He declares,
"Fine. Get one thing straight though, you don't get to tell me what to do. I do whatever I want." I say.
" I'm not." He answered.
" Then maybe next time don't go all bat shit crazy when you see me at a party." I say.
" No promises." He answers.
We reached my dorm and stopped.
I looked up at him.
" Go on." He says, nodding towards the entrance.
Then I remembered something.
" You have brown eyes," I say and he stared at me in confusion. I continued,
" And Evan's are black."
" You can see eye colors, impressive." He says and I rolled my eyes.
" Sometimes they turn...red." I said.
" What do you mean."
" That night... when we first... bumped into each other..." I say softly, " your eyes were red. Deep red. I thought I was just imagining it but, today at the party, I could see other students with red eyes too."
" Maybe because red is also an eye color, genius." He says.
" No. I mean it is, but, it is not your's or Evan's, yet tonight.... Evan's eyes were red too." I say.
He pursed his lips.
I purposely left out the sharp teeth part cause I'm sure he already thinks I'm crazy.
" Maybe you were indeed imagining it, little girl." He says.
" I'm not." I said.
" Okay," he didn't believe me.
" Go to sleep, Miss Millers. It's late." He says.
I ran my tongue over my lip as I thought of it.
There's no way it was imagination. I'm going to figure it out somehow.
" Fuck." Xavier cussed, softly, breaking my thoughts.
I hadn't realize how close he was until now, his eyes ran over my body and stopped at my lips then slowly moved to my eyes.
I stared into his dark brown ones, it was like there was something magnetic pulling me in.
He raised his hand and pushed away stray hairs from my face with his fingers—that action alone causing butterflies to go crazy in my stomach, my breath hitching.
I won't let him get the upper hand this time.
" Good night, boyfriend." I whispered, and like instinct, I brushed my lips lightly over his cheek causing him to suck in a breath.
I smiled, gently pushed him away and walked into the small gate.
