Just as he was about to dismiss the entire ordeal as a waste of time, Grey turned—and his breath hitched.
His fingers trembled, a cold shiver running down his spine despite the heat surrounding him. The sight before him was nothing short of unnatural—something that should not exist. His pupils constricted, his heart hammering against his ribs as an unexplainable sense of dread settled deep within him.
"What the hell…?!" he shouted, eyes widening in disbelief.
Behind the volcano, he could see a forest—unlike anything he'd encountered before. The trees weren't withered or broken like those from the forest he came from.
These ones looked alive—thriving. Thick, youthful trees intertwined and wove together with an elegant, almost artistic harmony. Lush leaves shimmered vibrantly in the light, birds perched peacefully, and animals—actual animals, not beasts—dashed about joyfully, unbothered and unafraid.
