After he returned to the village and informed them about the fact that he had taken care of the goblin camp, they were overjoyed at the fact that they will now be safe from the monsters.
The village chief gave him his payment while also some small gifts from the villagers, after which he went back to the town and quickly went to Rhia and showed her the ears and the pamplet as she smiled at him.
"Another job well done. Now let's see how many you have killed." Rhia said with a smile as she opened the bag.
Though she froze when she saw three very noticeable ears of Hobgoblins in the pile of the goblin ears in the sack. She took the pamplet and read through it to make sure that she was correct in the assessment of the quest.
'Th-There is no mention of Hobgoblins in the quest.' Rhia thought to herself in shock as this information was not on it.
"Armaros, did the villagers tell you about the Hobgoblins?" Rhia asked him which caught the attention of her coworkers and the adventurers who were near the counter.
"No. They just came out of their tents after I attacked the camp." Armaros said to her with a shake of his head.
"Oh so..." Rhia said before she started to count the ears inside the bag.
As the seconds went by her eyes widened when she saw how many ears he had exactly brought back as she looked at him in shock with her co-workers and the other Adventurers being interested in what she was doing.
"S-So, you killed an entire camp of 32 goblins and 3 Hobgoblins all by yourself?" Rhia asked in a shaky voice as she looked at the young adventurer in front of her as her eyes were wide in disbelief.
"Yes." Armaros said with a nod at her words.
Her coworkers were surprised when they heard that as they looked at Armaros in disbelief, and so did the adventurers who were near the counter as they looked at the boy in shock and surprise.
Hobgoblins, especially three of them, needed a C rank Adventurer as they are able to take on three of them. But 32 goblins on top of that? Not only would they have to fight against the Hobgoblins but against the goblins as well, which is not an advantageous position and could lead to the death of the adventurer.
And yet they are now hearing that a D rank Adventurer was able to kill the goblins and Hobgoblins all on his own. They couldn't help but look at the boy in shock as this is rarely done by someone, especially one so young.
Rhia almost fell down when she realised that he had done just that as she grabbed onto the table to stabilize himself as she looked at him. She quickly closed the bag and then grabbed his hand as he blinked in surprise.
"Come with me please." Rhia said as she let go of his hand to get out of the counter.
She walked out and grabbed his hand and pulled him with her as he walked after her, a little dumbfounded by how she was acting while Rhia's coworkers were looking at them go as they looked at each other. The adventurers who were able to hear what happened also started to talk about it as well, which gained the attention of the rest that were there.
Rhia brought him to a room as she opened the door and walked inside with her and placed him on the couch. This was the room where she and her coworkers can come to relax or to have talks with adventurers when needed, and she really needed to talk to the boy in front of her.
"Armaros, why did you attack such a large goblin camp?" Rhia asked him as she sat across from him.
"Because that's my quest. I mean, I did complete it and take care of all the goblins and Hobgoblins." Armaros said to her with his usual straight and serious face.
"Yes but Hobgoblins are very strong opponents and not to mention three of them. Only a C rank is able to have the power to take on those of such rank and only if they are alone. Fighting 3 Hobgoblins alongside 32 goblins is very very dangerous." Rhia said to him as she looked at him.
"But I still managed to defeat them right?" Armaros asked her with a raised eyebrow.
"That's not the problem. You could've died in the fight. Even if you managed to defeat them, it was still something that could've resulted in your death. I just want you to be more careful in the future, and if it's a situation that is dangerous, then you should retreat and get some help." Rhia said to him with a worried look.
"Why are you so worried about me? I mean, I am an adventurer like the rest of them?" Armaros asked her in slight confusion at her favouritism for him.
"Well, to be honest, it's because you are such a good person and I like you for it." Rhia said to him with a smile.
"Meaning?" Armaros asked in confusion at her words.
"Well, usually advanturers of your age care more about the glory of the adventure and money more than taking care of themselves and also helping the people. While I know they mean well since they are so young, they are quite impulsive and usually focus on getting more fame and money than helping the people." Rhia said to him with an exasperated sigh.
"And I'm different? I do want the money you know." Armaros said to her as she smiled at him.
"That might be true. But you also help others outside of the quests and not to mention you are very considerate and kind, and despite the fact that you have such strength, you didn't let it go to your head and are still humble. That's something that most adventurers do not have, and not to mention, many would just disregard what me and my friends tell them to do what they want." Rhia said to him as she remembered some young adventurers who became arrogant and overconfident after getting some success.
And it wasn't the young Adventurers as well. Older adventurers were for the most part jerks, to an extent. Since they fight against monsters they think of themselves as being superior to the civilians and the staff in the guild since they do not fight, and more often than not, they disregard the advice given to them by her and the others because they aren't "adventurers" like them.
And young Adventurers are too overconfident in their abilities, and while it could be attributed to their age, it still doesn't warrant the fact that they do not take the appropriate caution when they take a quest, as they underestimate their enemies like goblins which often lead to their deaths.
"You don't want to see me die?" Armaros asked her as he looked at her.
Rhia looked down when he asked that as she sighed to herself and looked at him.
"Yes, you are one of the most polite and considerate Adventurers I know of and I don't want you to lose your life. An adventurers like is dangerous, but that doesn't mean that you have to put yourself in dangerous situations. It's okay to put your own life first, it doesn't make you any less of an adventurer, it just means that you care about yourself." Rhia said to him in a gentle tone.
Armaros froze when he heard that, as this was the first time anyone other than Mary who has ever said this kind of thing to him. It also didn't help due to growing up in the Dawnbringer household, the only one who actually cared about him and talked about him with kindness was his nanny Mary, and the other nannies to an extent.
He relaxed after a second as he nodded and smiled at Rhia for her concern for his well-being and she couldn't help but think again that he looked very good with a smile on his face, like the previous times she had thought whenever he smiled in front of her.
"Thanks Rhia. I appreciate it." Armaros said to her with a smile.
"It's no problem Armaros. It's my job. Just make sure that you are more careful in the future." Rhia said to him with a smile.
"Okay, I will be more careful." Armaros said with a smile on his own.
He was also quite glad that Rhia was looking out for him, and while he didn't fully trust her, he can admit that his trust in her has increased in the time that he has been an adventurer.
"Alright then, now let's go and get you your rewards for killing those many goblins and Hobgoblins." Rhia said with a smile as he nodded at her words.
Then the two left the room and went back as she counted the money and gave it to him as he took it and nodded at the amount. Though he did notice that the adventurers around him were looking at him as he could feel their gazes.
Something which Rhia also noticed as she looked at them nervously before she turned to her friend on her right.
"Eli. Why are they looking at him?" Rhia asked her friend.
Eli is a young woman who is around Rhia's age with fair skin, long black hair which reaches her hip, brown eyes and a good face. She is dressed in the same outfit as Rhia as she looked at her friend.
"Because they know that he killed all those Goblins and Hobgoblins. I think they might want to recruit him. He is a promising adventurer." Eli said to her friend as she glanced at said boy as he went to get something to eat.
"That's..." Rhia couldn't help but look at him when she heard that.
'I hope he doesn't accept. I don't want him to turn out like most of the other adventurers by being with them.' Rhia thought to herself as she looked at the others nervously.
"It's fine Rhia. Armaros has a smart head on his shoulders, he'll be fine." Eli said to her friend as she said her face.
"I-I guess. He is a very considerate person." Rhia said a bit embarrassed at how easily her friend had read her intentions.
Armaros himself just ignored the attention he was getting as he ate his food as he thought about what to do after he left the Guild. And a small part of him did think about what his sisters are doing, but he immediately dismissed it as he knew that they would be more focused on their training like always.
'They will be taken off of well in the mansion. I have to make sure that I don't die during my adventures. I want one quest to be peaceful, but with the way things have been going for me, I might be... Yeah, don't think about it.' Armaros thought to himself as he ate his food.
Timeskip
"So this is an reconnaissance mission?" Armaros asked Rhia as he gave the quest pamplet.
It was the next day and he has come to complete another quest, which was when he saw the reconnaissance mission which surprised him. Though no adventurer had taken it, even though there were many in there.
"Yes. You have to go and investigate a village and see if there is any problems. It's nothing dangerous really, aside from anything that you might find on the way there." Rhia said before she added as an after thought.
"None of the other Adventurers took it." Armaros said as he gestured to the pamplet.
"Reconnaissance quests like this are not in the interest of Adventurers since it isn't monster subjugation or some other work. Reconnaissance is boring to them and they would rather leave it to the knights and other officials." Rhia said to him as she looked at him.
"Well, I'm fine with this one." Armaros said as he looked over the details.
"Okay then. Have a safe trip." Rhia said to him as he nodded to her as he walked away as she sighed in relief.
"You're relieved that he isn't going on any dangerous quests huh." Eli said to her with a smile.
"Yeah, I'm quite glad about that actually." Rhia said with a smile as she saw him leave the guild building, relief in her heart that he won't be in any danger in this quest.
