Chapter 33 - The press conference

For the next 5 or something chapters I'm gonna focus on his growth as a person, I noticed that I've been too much in his wrestling life. So I hope you enjoy.

The Following day, Adonis woke up to his name trending on social media yet again. However, this time it wasn't trending just because of his upcoming Steal cage match againt Isaac Scotlyn next coming Tuedsday at WWL Nct, this time he was trending because of his Ice cream date with Akira Jackson the other day.

The photos from their date had gone viral, capturing the playful interactions and laughter they shared as they enjoyed their ice creams. Fans were buzzing with excitement, speculating about the nature of their relationship. Some were shipping them as a couple, while others were thrilled to see Adonis, usually so focused on his wrestling career, having fun outside of the ring.

Adonis couldn't help but smile at the thought of Akira. Their chemistry was undeniable, and he appreciated how comfortable she made him feel. As he scrolled through the comments, he noticed a mix of support and a fair amount of skepticism. Some fans praised their connection, while others questioned if this was just a publicity stunt, others were disappointed in this as they thought he was romantically involved with either Roxxy or Korra.

He sighed, knowing that the wrestling world thrived on drama and speculation. But for him, this was about more than just public perception. He decided to reach out to Akira, wanting to ensure she was okay with the sudden attention.

After a few minutes of texting, Akira replied with a playful emoji and a message that read, "Guess we're the hottest topic in town😝! How do you feel about it?" Adonis chuckled, typing back, "Honestly, I'm just glad we had a great time together. What do you think about going public? I'd love to keep hanging out."

Before he could send the message, his phone buzzed again with a notification. It was from his Sean Michaels, reminding him of the press conference scheduled for later that day. Adonis knew that discussing his upcoming match would be necessary, but he also sensed that questions about his personal life would inevitably come up. Taking a deep breath, he prepared himself for the whirlwind of attention that awaited him, both in and out of the ring.

At the press conference, the energy in the room was palpable. Adonis took his seat at the long table, flanked by his fellow wrestlers and the event organizers. Cameras flashed as reporters jostled for the best angles, eager to capture every moment. As the moderator began the session, Adonis felt a mix of anticipation and anxiety. The first few questions focused on the upcoming steel cage match against Isaac Scotlyn.

"Hey, Adonis. How are you champ? I'm Rayn O'Connor..I would like to ask, what's your take on the whole match with Scotlyn?"

"The match, huh? Well, I'm kinda sad. Honestly, I came to the Nct and obviously it's everyone's dream to be the top guy. But, in my way to the top, I ended up indirectly stopping Isaac's momentum. I'm I sad that I did? No, that's just how the business works. But, what I am sad about is the fact that instead of talking to me about it like the friends I thought we are, what does he do? He makes a plan to screw me over and keep the tittle on Karmello Hayze. The same guy who beat him for the title. It ain't my fault he lost the title in the first place."

"Hey champ, Samantha here. I'm a big fan of your work."

"Thank you, Sam."

"Anyway. I just wanna know, it's this match personal for you?"

"Personal? Not really, it's more about teaching him a lesson. Look, firstly I didn't ask to team with the guy. He had a beef with Karmello and I had I had one with Trick at the time."

Adonis spoke confidently about his training and strategy, emphasizing how important this match was for his career. The crowd listened intently, nodding along. But he knew what was coming next. After a few wrestling-related inquiries, a reporter raised their hand and asked

"So, Adonis, there's been quite a buzz about your ice cream date with Akira Jackson. Can you tell us more about it?"

The room fell silent as all eyes turned to him. He could feel a blush creeping up his cheeks but kept his composure. "It was a fun day," he replied, choosing his words carefully. "We both enjoy ice cream, and it was nice to take a break from the ring and just hang out."

A wave of murmurs rippled through the crowd. Another reporter chimed in, "Are we to assume this means you two are officially dating?"

Adonis hesitated, glancing at his manager, who gave him an encouraging nod. He decided to be honest. "I wouldn't say we're officially dating yet, but I really enjoy spending time with her. We connect on many levels, and that's important to me."

The reporters scribbled notes, their interest piqued. "So, would you say this is a distraction or motivation for your upcoming match?" someone else asked.

"Honestly, it's a bit of both," he admitted. "Having someone like Akira in my life adds a new layer of motivation. I want to be the best version of myself, both in the ring and outside of it. Cause if you look at what she accomplished in her creer before coming here to the WWL, it shows taht i have much ro learn from her."

"Adonis, you two did I commercial together for Audi not so long ago. Did the commercial connect you two or did you already know her before hand?"

"Honestly, I started to know her because of the advertisement gig. If anything I should be thanking them for introducing me to her." He says with a little smile. As the questions continued to flow, Adonis felt a sense of liberation. He realized that opening up about his personal life didn't have to be a burden; it could be empowering.

By the time the press conference wrapped up, Adonis was feeling energized. He left the venue, his mind racing with thoughts of the match and what the future might hold with Akira. As he walked to the car he rented, he decided to send her a quick text: "Just finished the press conference. I think we may have just made it official. Want to celebrate later?"

Within seconds, his phone buzzed with her reply: "Count me in! Ice cream again? 😊" Adonis grinned. Maybe this whirlwind of attention was exactly what he needed—not just for his career, but for his heart as well. As he drove off, he felt a spark of excitement for both the match ahead and the budding connection with Akira.
