Chapter 19 - A Little Friend?

Crystal was standing by leaning her back against the door of the car, waiting for someone. After a while she saw many students coming out from the building opposite to her which was a law school. Her eyes fell on a boy wearing specs, books in his hands and having a stoic face making her grumble "Why the hell I'm surrounded by gloomy faces?"

The boy was continuously looking at his phone when another boy beside him said something to him and he caught sight of her.

Seeing her a small smile appeared on his face, coming to her he asked "You didn't inform me that you are coming here?"

"I wanted to surprise you." She opened the back door for him in which he put his bag and books

"But still, you had to wait for me." he said adamantly

"I told you before that I don't want to disturb your studies." she sits on the driving seat

"You never did. I'm never disturbed by your presence." he immediately retorted

"I know" she said before changing the topic "So where do you want to have lunch? I'm treating."

"Why?"

"A meal of gratitude, for your help this morning." starting the car she told him

"Was it helpful?" a flash of happiness passed through his amber eyes

"Very. I'll tell you the details during lunch, which place?"

"Our usual one." he replied

"Done." straightening herself she drove to their usual place.

Arriving at their usual place which was a small restaurant with a decent interior and peaceful atmosphere, they took their seats.

"What exactly happened?" he couldn't help but ask

"Hold your horses boy, first let big sister order for you." She called a waiter after saying to the boy who surprisingly had a certain enthusiasm.

"What big sister? I'm just two years younger than you." He uttered

She was about to answer him but waiter comes to their table

Ordering their lunch she said "So, I basically sued that girl who caused that accident and who wrote that article."

Staring at the scar on Crystal's forehead, a light flashes in his eyes. "She deserves it."

"I'll make sure that she'll get what she deserves." She nodded her head in affirmation

"And?" he continued to ask

"And I resigned from there and decided to help my mother at her art museum."

"So, you're not working under that man?"

She shook her hand "No, I decided to focus on my life and my happiness." The boy smiled

"Now, you tell me how you get to know about that girls' information. You didn't do anything illegal, right?" She raised her brow by inquiring from him.

"I asked for help from one of my seniors. Why? don't you believe me?"

Hearing his question, Crystal smiled "In this life there are some people who I trust very much and you're one of them, Kayle."

Crystal's eyes were beaming with sincerity, they were so sincere that Kayle felt a kind of suffocation in his chest.

"I'll come in a minute." He rushes out from there.

Crystal looked at him and reminisced about the time when she met Kayle for the first time, a scared boy who was trying to act brave. That time he resembled another unknown boy, someone whom she cared for and someone who was close to her heart. In her previous life she never got that answer but after Rachel told her everything, she had an idea who that boy was, because of him she decided to help Kayle.

"Where are you lost?"

Her trance was broken by Kayle's voice "When did you come back?"

"When you were lost in your thoughts, look, the waiter also brought the lunch and you didn't notice."

When the waiter brought the food, he saw her looking at a blank space so he thought not to disturb her.

In the middle of lunch, Kayle said, "I've got a job."

"Really, where?" Crystal asked while taking a sip from her drink

"At a bar, as a singer." He notified

"Damm, that's great news. I'll come there to listen to you."

"Will you?" There was a spark in his eyes

"It's a big sister's promise." She ruffled his hair.

At the Maxwell Group, Lucas was staring at the resignation letter on his table. Ben, who was standing behind his boss, peeked at him and saw him looking at the resignation letter again.

From the time Ms. Wayne gave her resignation letter, his boss hasn't touched it or opened it. He was doing his every work, turning a blind eye to the letter which was making him confused about what he was exactly thinking.

Their thoughts were snapped out by the ring of Lucas' phone. Lucas attended his mother's call who asked him "Are you free tonight?"

"Why?"

"Waynes are coming today for dinner." She paused then continued "They wanted to discuss something regarding your and Crystal's engagement."

Lucas remembered how Crystal avoided his hand and her 'Inconvenience' word unknowingly made him irked and pissed off

"I'm busy."

Grace tried to persuade him "Lucas, listen…"

"Bye." Saying this he was about to put down his phone when he heard his grandfather saying "Tell that rascal that if he doesn't come tonight then don't regret it later."

He mumbled while throwing Crystal's resignation letter in the dustbin. "I never regret anything."
