When Vennette's light spear met Kael's star-forged sword, the sky cracked. The shockwave sent them both flying hundreds of meters back. But neither of them faltered, landing simultaneously and launching back at each other without even taking a breath.
Kael summoned the Meteor Shower ability he had learned from Iskandir, calling down shards of stars from above. Each one crashed into the celestial floor like meteors, but Vennette stopped time—only for herself. Moving at the speed of light, she appeared behind Kael and struck his back with her spear.
But Kael used the mental copy technique he had learned from the Mental Twin: The body that took the blow was an illusion. The real Kael descended upon Vennette with a dark vortex.
Kael's fist sank into Vennette's chest.
The light trembled. As Vennette was knocked back, the sky suddenly turned red. The sacred clouds began to darken.
"You only represent purification," Kael said, approaching with heavy steps.
"But before purification, there must be sin. My existence is your denial."
Vennette fell to her knees but did not surrender. She opened her hands—and suddenly, thousands of memory spheres made of light scattered across the surroundings. Kael felt a detonation in his mind. Each sphere contained the final memory of a soul. A child who lost their mother. A soldier who watched their friend die. Kael felt all of them at once. His heart shook.
But then he remembered: Elira's laughter. Mara's embrace.
In that moment, Kael unleashed the soul thief once again—but this time, the target was Vennette.
Her light-made body began to crack. As Kael reached out, a dark claw passed through the light and reached Vennette's essence.
Vennette screamed. But it was not a scream of fear—it was a scream of surrender.
"Maybe… maybe even darkness... is a truth."
And then, she quietly vanished.
A sudden warmth flooded Kael's body. The power he had drawn from Vennette blended into his soul. This new power was a form of purification that could break the armor of light and bend time—but Kael would use it not to purify, but to burn.
He turned his eyes to the sky. Only one Apocalyptic Twin remained… and the most dangerous one had yet to appear.
