Blue was on his back to the padded exam table as the doctor rubbed a cool gel on his bare belly which had a slight bump.
"Shhh…" He sucked in a deep breath through his mouth because of the chill.
"Are you okay?" Winter, who was standing by the corner of the exam room, stepped forward in concern.
"I'm fine," Blue said dismissively.
"The gel is cold so it surprises people when they come in contact with it," the male middle-aged doctor explained to Winter.
Winter nodded his head in understanding and took a step back.
The doctor began to move the transducer over Blue's belly. Blue kept his eyes on the screen, eager to see his child.
"Very strong heartbeat," the doctor remarked, glancing at the image displayed on the screen.
Blue couldn't make out a lot of things from the black and white image with lots of confusing features. However, he was able to see something flickering in the image and heard the consistent rhythm of his child's heartbeat.
