The Konoha army marched steadily homeward.
Obito, feeling a little bored, casually glanced around when his eyes caught something that stunned him.
"That's…"
His pupils contracted sharply.
He spotted a tall man in a red robe, wearing a mischievous grin, attempting to slide his hand around the waist of a woman dressed in green.
The very next moment, the woman bent backward in an unbelievable display of agility, dodging his hand.
Using the momentum of her backbend, she spun a leg up from behind and lashed it across the man's chest with a fierce kick.
"Ha-ya!"
"Ahh!"
To the astonishment of everyone present, the man in red was sent flying by the sheer force of the kick, tracing a perfect arc through the air.
Obito watched him sail off and chuckled in amusement.
"Haha, judging by the direction he's flying, Lord Jiraiya should be getting back to Konoha before us."
He grinned wider. "Though, I gotta say—Lady Tsunade's waist… Lord Jiraiya sure is in for a treat later."
The army soon returned to Konoha, and Obito barely had time to breathe before he found himself hauled into the Hokage's office by two serious-looking figures.
...
Inside the Hokage's office,
Minato and Hiruzen sat with solemn expressions, their eyes fixed intently on Obito.
Minato cradled a teacup, and Hiruzen puffed calmly on his pipe, waiting for Obito's explanation.
Obito looked at their composed and expectant faces and fell into thought.
"How should I talk my way out of this? I've got so many scripts, I don't even know which one to use…"
After a brief pause, inspiration struck him.
"Hmm, maybe I'll go with that set of lines—it's perfect for the situation."
Clearing his throat, he put on a dramatic expression.
"Lord Third, Minato-sensei, I wanted to live a simple life and interact with you as just an ordinary person… but it seems I can't hide my true identity any longer."
Both Minato and Hiruzen leaned forward slightly, their expressions more serious than ever.
"Does Obito have some hidden identity we don't know about beyond being the leader of the Night Organization?"
With a flourish, Obito wiped his cheek and revealed a smug grin, showing off his two large, violet eyes.
"I'm done pretending. It's time for the truth. I am the successor of the Sage of Six Paths."
"The Great Toad Sage himself appointed me as the savior of this world, with the mission of leading it to peace."
"Obito, you just throw the blame wherever you want, don't you?"
Had this been a few days earlier, Minato and Hiruzen would have likely dismissed Obito's words as nonsense.
But now, Obito had singlehandedly defeated an army of thousands. Naruto and Itachi had also recently received the Sage's legacy.
Given the timing, Obito's declaration fit all too well with the expectations they had of him.
It even made Obito's past eccentric behavior suddenly seem logical.
Creating bloodline limits out of thin air? Perfecting Sage Mode effortlessly?
The more unusual he was, the more it made sense for a savior!
Minato and Hiruzen exchanged glances, silently coming to an understanding they had reached earlier.
"Obito…"
Minato's gaze turned serious.
"Do you… wish to inherit the position of Hokage and become the Fifth Hokage of Konoha?"
(Danzo: What?! I do not approve of this!)
The moment Minato asked that question, it felt as if the entire world shook with anticipation.
However, being part of the world itself, none of them noticed anything strange.
Yet the system, upon hearing Minato's words, nearly crashed with excitement!
"It's raining money! It's raining money!"
"Ding! A choice has been issued!"
The sudden notification in his mind snapped Obito out of his shock.
He took a deep breath and looked at the three options the system provided:
Option 1: Accept Minato's offer to become the Fifth Hokage. Reward: 2 God-Tier Technique Packs.Option 2: Refuse Minato's offer and say that you're more interested in 'marrying the Fifth Hokage.' Reward: 1:1 Scale Tsunade Figurine.Option 3: Refuse Minato's offer and declare you have no interest in the position. Reward: 0.5 kilocalories of chakra.
Obito's expression turned strange as he read the options.
"Why does it feel like there's something weird mixed in here?"
He didn't rush to make a decision. Instead, he turned to Minato.
"Minato-sensei, being Hokage has always been my dream, but you're still in your prime…"
Minato gave a small smile and set down his teacup.
"Obito, you should understand your own nature by now. Even if you took over as Hokage right now, you wouldn't want to be tied down to the village."
Hearing this, Obito sighed in relief and grinned.
"As expected of you, Minato-sensei. So, I'm just taking the title, right?"
Obito had already figured out Minato and Hiruzen's intentions.
Defeating an army of 40,000 men had given him both fame and influence. In the current situation, leveraging that for Konoha's benefit was the logical move.
Minato nodded slightly, then shook his head.
"For the next few years, Lord Third and I will handle the village's daily affairs on your behalf."
"But there will come a time when you'll have to take the reins fully and shoulder the burden of protecting Konoha."
"To bear the Will of Fire… Obito, are you willing to take on this responsibility?"
"System, I choose Option 1."
After careful thought, Obito's expression turned solemn.
"I am willing, Minato-sensei."
Minato and Hiruzen smiled in satisfaction.
Hiruzen took a puff from his pipe, chuckling.
"Excellent, Obito. You have not let me or Minato down."
"You don't need to worry about the formalities. Leave everything to me and Minato."
At those familiar words, Obito suddenly raised his hand.
"Lord Third, Minato-sensei, I have a question."
"I've been planning my wedding recently. Do you think it's better to have the wedding before or after this whole Hokage ceremony?"
Minato thought for a moment and glanced at Hiruzen for his opinion.
"I think it would be better to have it after Obito's succession. What do you think, Lord Third?"
Hiruzen nodded thoughtfully, exhaling a cloud of smoke.
"I think we should combine the two events."
"Combine them?" Minato asked, surprised.
"Yes," Hiruzen said with a smile.
"A victorious return, a hero's appointment, and the Hokage's wedding… those three events would be enough to lift the spirits of the entire village."
"We could throw a grand celebration that the entire village could enjoy."
Then Hiruzen turned to Obito with a hearty laugh.
"Of course, that's just my suggestion. The decision ultimately rests with you, Obito."
