Before they actually went to the center of the main camp, they first headed back to Kalbo's home. On the way, Kalbo explained that his home was actually not a home but rather a shelter for his pets.
"I like sleeping wherever and whenever, and the forest provides me food, so I don't have a real reason to stay at the camp." Is what Kalbo said when asked why. He says he likes exploring the vast forest and making many makeshift camps in the forest; however, there's probably more to that story, maybe because it reminds him of what had happened.
Kalbo lays down the wild boar on a flat rock. And if you're wondering, yes, the boar is already dead. Gold looks at it with interest, probably wondering how they're going to prepare it. Kalbo's sharp-toothed grin turns to Gold.
"Let's skewer this and cook it over a fire," Kalbo nudges Gold to bring a wooden pole that was nearby.
Basically a boar kebab. The boar they caught resembles that of a monster since random bones were sticking out from its spine and there were eyes in its tongue. It'll probably taste the same, right? Surely, there's no way that they could get poisoned or contract a disease by that. Knowing these two airheads, they'll probably still do it even if they knew the risk just because of curiosity.
Kalbo slices the boar's stomach open and removes its insides. Kalbo at first wanted to eat the innards as well but the innards were mostly fed to Kalbo's precious pets due to Gold's suggestion.
Gold, looking a bit nauseated, "C-can we feed those to...them?" He points to Kalbo's pets with a pleading voice.
Kalbo was a bit reluctant at first but thought about it and agreed soon enough. Heaven knows what kind of diseases the boar might've contracted so this was a good decision on Gold's end.
On second thought, it might not be such a wise decision. It's common sense to avoid consuming intestines, right? Maybe it's considered wise because Idiocracy is just the norm at this point. Credit is due, though, since it does kill two birds with one stone. Not literally, Fernando Poe Jr. is still alive and well.
Kalbo grabs a handful of whatever was in that boar and sets it down in Fernando Poe Jr's cage. It's still a bit surprising that a crow, would eat intestines but then again these probably aren't normal animals in the first place.
Kalbo left out some of the blood to dry in a bowl made out of clay. What's the use of the boar's blood? Maybe he will use it as a sauce of some sort? After the bowl was filled with boar blood, Kalbo just left it as is, so what was the point?
Purport feasted on the blood that seeped onto the floors. It kinda looks like a vacuum but for blood. Are Fernando Poe Jr and Purport some kind of man-eating monsters? Maybe the cages weren't because they were "special" or "rare", maybe it was because they were dangerous.
It does beg the question, how did he even tame or meet these odd-looking creatures? And why? Maybe he shot them with a dart laced with sleep-inducing liquid as he did with Gold, but they were at least helpful in some cases, unlike Gold.
They also prepared several ingredients: garlic, peppers, onions, and onion chives, which were just simultaneously shoved right inside the boar's belly when it was skewered.
Then it was stitched right back up using a hemp rope. The rope appears to be similar to the rope they used when they climbed the cliff. Using that to stitch seems to be difficult but Kalbo still manages.
"Oh, yeah. If we see my friends later, I'll introduce you to them." Kalbo says cheerfully.
Thinking about it, Gold's idiotic decision earlier might've been the right one since the entire ordeal appears to have bonded the two of them closer together. Hopefully close enough for Kalbo not to abandon Gold just because he's useless.
They headed over to the giant campfire and put the boar kebab leaning on a tree. Kalbo spots three other goblins who are sitting next to Bobo. Those are probably the friends he had mentioned earlier. They were roasting small pieces of meat that were pierced on branches. Looks like a mini barbeque session.
Kalbo calls for them, and they greet him but don't bother coming over. Not out of rudeness or anything, they were just too busy roasting their own food.
One of the goblins looked at Gold with judgemental disdain, and another goblin looked infuriated. Nevermind, they're actually trying to be purposely rude.
Kalbo walks over to him, and Gold follows like how a duck would. Kalbo presents one of his friends, "This is Tanga," Kalbo then presents the moron. "This is Gold." He must be trying to acquaint the two of them but it kinda creates an uncomfortable air. Tanga waved at Gold, forcing a smile; it must be awkward to greet someone you consider a pet. Gold waves back, his shoulders hunched from awkwardness.
Kalbo also tried to introduce the other two, who were identical twins, but they didn't pretend to be friendly with Gold nor did they try. The twins were hostile to Gold AND Kalbo for some reason. Are they really Kalbo's friends?
The goblin who was giving a judgemental side-eye was named Gagi. Gagi had its hair braided into and the braids were shaped into circles. Its hair was kinda similar to the leader's Goblin.
Meanwhile, the more blatant one who was spouting words filled with malice named Gago. Gago actually had hair, curly and black unlike Kalbo and Bobo who were practically bald.
Why were the two of them so aggressive? Was it because Gold was human? Are they also mad at Kalbo for being half-human?
"Kalbo mangmang ka ba? Dagdag ka lang ng dagdag sa pahamak sa tribo." Its voice was throaty and its face scrunched up like a piece of paper from anger. Why does its face look familiar?
Kalbo looks away from embarrassment. Gold looks at the situation and gets angry at Gago for being angry at Kalbo for no reason.
Kalbo notices Gold's newfound hostility and before it could escalate any further and offered the skewered boar as an apology, Gago accepts it bitterly. Why does Kalbo even need to apologize? While, yes technically he did bring this moron here, does he really need to apologize? What's the worst that could even happen? That might jinx it but it probably won't.
"Leave." Gago demands. Kalbo and Gold do leave but it leaves a bitter taste in my mouth.
In all honesty, it's much more fortunate that they didn't have dinner with Kalbo's "friends" and just headed Kalbo's pet enclosure, otherwise Gold might've caused a scene and fought a losing battle with Gago. Gago was obviously more muscular than Gold but I would've loved to see both of their faces bashed in.
They put in that much effort into that boar kebab and they couldn't even eat it in the end. What a waste. What are they supposed to eat now?
"Are you...hungry?" Kalbo asks, his eyes looking sunken and fatigued.
Gold nods, but not looking at Kalbo directly, maybe he's still ashamed.
"Figured as much. Here," Kalbo offers a bowl with the dried boar blood earlier. The boar blood turned into some sort of pudding.
"What? You don't like it raw?" Kalbo tries to ask seriously but lets out a snicker. Was that an...innuendo? Nevertheless, Gold doesn't understand and nods.
Kalbo grabs a knife made from stone and cuts the blood pudding into squares. He then asks Gold to go collect small fallen branches of trees and dried out leaves nearby. Gold does what's he told and walks a bit farther than what one would consider "nearby" and Kalbo doesn't notice. Is he trying to get lost? Unfortunately, he doesn't get lost and returns safely.
"Thanks." Kalbo pats Gold's head. Gold stood frozen in place after Kalbo pets him. Did that awaken something in him? Hopefully not.
Kalbo cooks the boar blood with a metal pan. After it was cooked, Kalbo stabs them with the leftover sticks and roasts them over the fire.
Kalbo gladly hands one of them them over to Gold and he gladly eats it. It's chewy but doesn't have any flavor so Kalbo suggest dipping it in chili sauce.
Gold eats the blood barbeque with the chili sauce and his eyes widen before crying. He looks at Kalbo as if he just betrayed him. Kalbo chuckles at Gold with no remorse. Gold begs Kalbo for water and Kalbo apparently doesn't have one of the most basic necessities.
Gold's face is as red as a tomato at his point. Just how spicy is the chili sauce? Kalbo feels a bit guilty now so he leads Gold to a lake. It was a bit farther than expected but they did reach it. It's quite dark out now.
Kalbo hands Gold a poorly-made cup and he hurriedly takes it. Gold bends down on the rocky shore and hurriedly drinks the water. Are they sure this water is safe in the first place? There might be parasites or like bacteria floating around.
Gold drinks a lot of water before his face returns back to normal. Yikes. Gold should start praying that the water doesn't have any parasites or else his stomach would wriggling with so many.
Gold looks down at the water. And there stood a reflection of him. Tired looking as always. Honestly, he looks like a local beggar but wearing fancyn and noble, worn-out clothes.
"Hey, why don't we dive in?" Kalbo suggests. Good, God, PLEASE no. Do they know time it is already?
Since they can't hear the pleas, they both jumped into the water. Gold's once frazzled hair, were now straight. His hair looked gray before but now that it's washed, it's actually white. He kinda looks majestic, especially under the moonlight.
Kalbo splashes Gold with water and Gold splashes him back. They played for a while before going out of the water. They were both dripping wet.. Kalbo shakes off the water like how a would dog do and Gold does the same. Classic, monkey see monkey do.
Wait. What is Gold supposed to wear now? Obviously he can't sleep with his wet clothes and he can't sleep buck naked either. Does Kalbo have any to spare? This is why bathing in the middle of the night and in the middle of nowhere is a bad idea.
Sounds of twigs breaking and crunching of leaves was heard nearby. Kalbo's goat eyes darts at the origin of the noise and
the two encountered Naoyoti once again. She had the same scars before but with the addition of the scars that Tongtong caused.
What is she planning this time? She's not here to kill Kalbo so maybe she's here to harm Gold this time?
Kalbo stands frozen in fear once again. Deja Vu? There's is one thing different though, Gold actually comes to defend Kalbo. Is he stupid or brave? Well, whatever the case, atleast he's trying to be useful.
Naoyoti swiftly moves and Gold clenches his jaw and closes his eyes, bracing himself. Instead, Naoyoti leans in for a hug. Huh...?
Gold's stands still, confused and stares at Naoyoti. Why the hell is she hugging Gold out of all people? This also snaps Kalbo out whatever trance he's in when he sees Naoyoti and he stares at the both them in confusion.
Gold looks at Kalbo for advice and Kalbo shrugs. "Kuya, bakit ayaw mo na ako tignan?" Naoyoti pleads, her voice a bit higher pitched than usual. Oh, she's crying.
After a few seconds of silence, Naoyoti stops weeping. "Kuya...tumangkad ka ba?" She asks, wiping off her tears with her palm.
Gold doesn't reply and she looks up.
Wait. Did she JUST now realized that it's Gold and not Kalbo?
